Recent shows where a large number of the principal cast has died

I’ll start: The Sopranos

Holy shit. But a lot of these people were old anyways.

Moesha. Lawd that set was cursed. Either that or Brandy is.

by Anonymousreply 3October 7, 2025 1:21 AM

R2 Lots, look it up. Tony’s dad, Livia, Frank Vincent. Even Vito’s secret lover though he obviously died young or not in old age.

Everbody Loves Raymond.

Ray/Robert's parents. Debra's parents. Amy's parents. One of the twin boys.

60 Minutes. Still on the air. Everybody dead or zombies.

by Anonymousreply 9October 7, 2025 1:30 AM

It's rather amusing that Six Feet Under has a surviving cast.

by Anonymousreply 10October 7, 2025 1:51 AM

That's not a lot, r4. The Livia actor and Frank Vincent were both old as shit. You're talking about a show with a giant cast of age 50+ actors. Of course some of them are dead, 20 years after the finale

by Anonymousreply 11October 7, 2025 1:55 AM

R10 Tell that to my career.

Glee.

by Anonymousreply 17October 7, 2025 2:37 AM

R17 beat me to it. It has to be the most cursed cast if there ever was one.

by Anonymousreply 18October 7, 2025 2:51 AM

R18 In Tvland only

by Anonymousreply 19October 7, 2025 2:52 AM

OP, you really need to define "recent."

by Anonymousreply 20October 7, 2025 2:55 AM

R20 Anything from the 80s on. Though I’m not a stickler cuntish OP. If you have a fun fact about old shows where the cast died young or when the show was still relevant please share.

by Anonymousreply 21October 7, 2025 2:58 AM

Almost the entire cast of Designing Women.

by Anonymousreply 22October 7, 2025 4:14 AM

Larry Sanders Show - Hey Now!!! Garry Shandling and Rip Torn. Jeffrey Tambor has disappeared after getting in trouble for that last show he was on. …. where are Janene Garafalo and Jeremy Piven these days?

by Anonymousreply 23October 7, 2025 4:48 AM

R23 I didn’t know he died. I used to stay watching the Larry Sanders Show as I waited for soft porn to come on.

by Anonymousreply 24October 7, 2025 4:55 AM

I was watching some clips of the Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget, made in 2008 and I was amazed at the amount of people in there that are already dead.

Bob Saget, Greg Giraldo, Gilbert Gottfried, Norm Macdonald, and Cloris Leachman.

Nancy Marchand (Livia Soprano) died WHILE THE SHOW WAS ON THE AIR.

[quote]It's rather amusing that Six Feet Under has a surviving cast.

Frances Conroy retired from acting, and that's sometimes a sign that an actor is in poor health. If she dies in the next few months, it'll be really weird because in the final episode, her character dies in 2025.

But for a show that ended 20 years ago with a large cast of regular and recurring players whose youngest main cast member is now pushing fifty, they are doing pretty damn well. You have to go deep down into the cast list before you find actors who have died: it's basically just Michelle Trachtenberg and the actress who played Rachel's hooker friend.

R27 Cosby Show but I went and fucked things up.

Cheers is probably headed there. Kirstie Alley died in 2022 and George Wendt died a few months ago. The actor who played Coach died while the show was on.

I recall some rumors that Shelley Long is in poor health. I think John Ratzinger will be the next one to go, followed by Long, then Rhea Perlman, followed by Kelsey Grammer and then Ted Dansen. Woody Harelson will be the Betty White of the cast.

R32, I think Bebe Neuwirth will be the last to go. She's not that much older than Harrelson, women tend to live longer, and she's less likely to get in an accident while stoned.

by Anonymousreply 33October 7, 2025 2:55 PM

[quote] I think John Ratzinger

Oh, dear. Wasn't he a Cardinal?

by Anonymousreply 34October 7, 2025 2:57 PM

Diff'rent Strokes

by Anonymousreply 35October 7, 2025 3:02 PM

I think Jerry Mathers, 77, is the last surviving member of the Leave it to Beaver cast.
