The shit’s about to hit the fan per Robert Reich.

I am truly scared. I don’t see a way out of this mess.

Because it was far, far more important to vote for the orange clown who would put an end to chix with dicks from playing in women's sports.

by Anonymousreply 1October 7, 2025 12:46 AM

Hold me, David: I'm scared!

by Anonymousreply 2October 7, 2025 12:48 AM

I mean, yes but Reich is just stating the obvious. This is hardly a surprise to anyone who is politically savvy.

by Anonymousreply 3October 7, 2025 1:03 AM

The time to be scared was before the election. Once that happened, the US was screwed and the rest of the world started reordering its economies and alliances.

by Anonymousreply 4October 7, 2025 1:07 AM

Too Little-Too La…..

by Anonymousreply 5October 7, 2025 2:01 AM

I suspected they were at some point going to declare the insurrection act. How ironic, the actually insurrectionists of the 2020 election, projecting false insurrection claims on blue states.

by Anonymousreply 6October 7, 2025 2:12 AM

Remember -- every accusation is a confession.

by Anonymousreply 7October 7, 2025 2:17 AM

And who would I share this with? There's not a single person in the entire country that gives the slightest shit about my political opinions.

by Anonymousreply 8October 7, 2025 2:52 AM

I'm glad I'm old.

by Anonymousreply 9October 7, 2025 2:56 AM

I'd safely say that 85% of the Blue state anti Trump people are smart enough to know he has been engaging in provocative behavior hoping to instigate violence. We have mostly been disciplined and smart. Now maybe his intel people are telling him about the massive march being planned for October 18th. "No Kings." He is threatening to instigate some violence during those marches so he can suspend the Constitution and declare Martial Law. I don't think he is on strong legal ground to cite the insurrection act. Do not panic. Be smart. I am glad there's marches planned all over the United States. Even if I am not marching. He cannot possibly subdue t he kind of crowds that are expected. Not happening. He may tear gas them, beat them and send his thugs into the crowd to provoke violence, but it's on him. And the Media better be on their toes. People ought to film everything too. I honestly think it won't be as bad as it could be. His people are not competent, and not smart. Things are always bigger in his imagination than in reality. Remember that big parade he wanted? It fizzled. I want everything he attempts to fizzle. And our military better do their job to protect us from this asshole who wants to declare war on America.

by Anonymousreply 10October 7, 2025 3:04 AM

How does "Trumpistan" sound for the name of our new country?

by Anonymousreply 11October 7, 2025 3:13 AM

Sometimes I think it's t he media driving Trump. He says all kinds of random shit and he LOVES to threaten and intimidate people. But he only follows through when the media seizes on something he says and attaches weight and significance to it and literally promotes it. if they reported it and then just moved on and waved another shiny object in front of him to change the subject he'd be screaming about The View or some other TV show. The media goads him and he delivers.

by Anonymousreply 12October 7, 2025 3:18 AM

You may be right.

by Anonymousreply 13October 7, 2025 3:21 AM

Hegseth might fall out a window.

by Anonymousreply 14October 7, 2025 3:44 AM

Maybe those generals who got called fat will take care of him.

by Anonymousreply 15October 7, 2025 3:46 AM

Trump knows he is unpopular and he knows t he people in his cabinet are misfits and incompetents. Trump totally hates and resents his MAGA supporters too. These are not the kind of people he wants to be around. He wanted to be adored and accepted by the hoi polloi. The creme de la creme. The cool kids. And instead they mock him and ridicule him and do it publicly too. So he gets mean and vicious and stays in a permanent state of anger and outrage. As his niece Mary Trump warned us, he wants to tear the whole country down, burn it to the ground.

by Anonymousreply 16October 7, 2025 3:49 AM

[quote] What is Trump’s plan? What is the troika behind him (Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Russell Vought) seeking to accomplish, and how?

[quote] Sad to say, I believe Trump and his enablers have worked this out in advance. At the Pentagon on September 30, Trump pitched the plan to use American soldiers for the purpose of punishing his political enemies. He told hundreds of United States military leaders that they must prioritize “defending the homeland” against the “invasion from within” in American cities run by “radical-left Democrats.” He stated his intention is to use certain cities “as training grounds for our military.”

Trump's personality is irrelevant. Vance, Vought, and Miller are the ones telling him what to do. And they mean to kill us.

There won't be civil war, that's for sure. No one would want to be off their phones for that long.

by Anonymousreply 20October 7, 2025 4:02 AM

At this point, a child molestor is turning the planet upside down to not expose his demons.

by Anonymousreply 21October 7, 2025 4:04 AM

Hegseth would love to go to war. He is insane. But I can't see some of the others getting on board with Trump going to war with America. I don't think Rubio, or Dr. Oz or the treasury Secretary would go for it. I don't think RFK would either. Not sure about Bondi or Patel, but Tulsi would.

by Anonymousreply 22October 7, 2025 4:06 AM

We didn't sign-up for a civil war. It will cost is money so it's not happening.

First of all, you don't understand the meaning of the word "hoi polloi".

And I don't think you grasp the fact that the culture has changed. Like it or not, the right has a patina of "cool" with many, especially the young, that it hasn't had for a long time. This Trump administration is very different from his first. He's now surrounded by people who are loyal and do his bidding. Trump's approval rating might be low, but on a National level, it's higher than any Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 27October 7, 2025 4:43 AM

Global dictators enjoying the show.

by Anonymousreply 28October 7, 2025 4:45 AM

[quote]Trump knows he is unpopular

No he doesn't. He honestly believes he is very popular (he just quoted a number of 65% approval the other day) because that's what his staff tells him. He has no clue what's really going on and relies entirely on his staff (one example is how Oregon's governor had to tell him that nothing was happening in Portland because his staff and Fox News had convinced him that the city was burning to the ground - but now he's forgotten everything she told him and he thinks it's burning down again).

by Anonymousreply 29October 7, 2025 4:58 AM

I assume even if Trump doesn't get the "violent demonstrations" he wants - like people collectively decide not to do much other than mundane demonstrations so as not to provoke Trump - Trump will just get actors to do it for him (or people will just want to start shit in his name even without his urging). Or he'll simply turn the screws so hard and do so much awful stuff that violence is a deserving response. I mean, we're basically already there or almost in Chicago.

by Anonymousreply 30October 7, 2025 4:58 AM

At least Broadview declined Kristi a bathroom break. Fun fact, they were one of the first towns to get an Old Navy in 1994.

Trump has billionaires, venture capitalists, Silicon Valley titans of tech, Amazon, Google, and Meta in his circle. Uh...that's pretty creme de la creme.

Dump idolizes despots whose people fear them and are punished for saying bad things about them. He likes power. He’s a whiny, narcissistic asshole with delusional thinking. He wants blue states to fall in line and be punished for criticizing him like it’s North Korea. In all this, never forget that Biden and Garland sat on their hands.

by Anonymousreply 36October 7, 2025 10:12 AM

How about me, R22? Would I be down with civil war?

by Anonymousreply 37October 7, 2025 10:47 AM

I concur with R36. I would also add to always remember that WE DON'T DO THIS TYPE OF SHIT HERE! THIS IS AMERICA!!

by Anonymousreply 38October 7, 2025 11:20 AM

Things are pretty bad and it's obvious that the MAGAs want to instigate a civil war, but Trump couldn't even get Jimmy Kimmel yanked off of TV. They're overreaching and even their base isn't behind it all 100%.

by Anonymousreply 39October 7, 2025 11:36 AM

Why is R36 grayed out?

by Anonymousreply 40October 7, 2025 12:43 PM

Let's hope you're right R39. They're very motivated and determined.

Anyone watching Pam testifying before Senate Oversight Committee? Out of the gate she's a snarling junkyard dog, with a little help from her backup bitches La Senatress and Blackburn.

I tried to create a dedicated thread, but no go.

Oh yeah, Pamela Jo, I’m real scared.

by Anonymousreply 43October 7, 2025 2:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 44October 7, 2025 3:42 PM

Stop listening to or even reading these agitators. People like Reich are helping to generate in the general populace unnecessary perspectives and feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, fear, and anxiety. Why would he do this? Because it drives views to his stuff, makes sponsors/advertisers connected to his stuff happy, and also, unwittingly (if he isn't stoking fear on purpose), helps the current administration seem all powerful and in control. Discernment, people. If someone is banging a drum that makes everything seem hopeless, ask what that individual could possibly gain from keeping a fearful population constantly checking their substacks or following their social media accounts. (Hint: exposure and money coming to them via a manipulated population).

by Anonymousreply 45October 7, 2025 3:58 PM

Yea, R45, better we should listen to the likes of the neo-Fascist whores over at Faux News 24/7, because as we all know, they don't have an axe to grind with anybody.

No sirree, Bob, not even the 750 million dollar lawsuit they lost for deliberately lying about current events.

by Anonymousreply 46October 7, 2025 4:05 PM

You're only halfway correct, R25. This "patina of cool" you assume the right wing have gained especially by younger generations is an illusion brought to you by the same captured and manipulated news and social media in order to create that very idea in the general populace. Why don't we have news articles, stories, videos or social media showing the opposite? Why do you think? Who owns the media? Who manipulates the algorithms to push that "patina of cool" illusion into everyone's feeds? Who sends the millions of bots, many pretending to be from "younger generations" supporting RWNJ ideological narratives, into the forums, comment sections, feeds of the general populace? Dive into discernment and coherence thinking and you'll get your answer quick enough, and it's not how it is being portrayed. Once you assume that 85% of ALL news and social media is deliberate propaganda manipulating perception and emotion, clarity will arrive. Also take frequent breaks and stay offline. Move through the offline world. Look around you. There's peace in being offline and it's just waiting there for you.

by Anonymousreply 47October 7, 2025 4:07 PM

Yep, R16. Multiply those factors by how awful he feels physically, constantly. When I wake up with a stiff neck or a sore back or a cold, I become grouchy, bitchy, irritable, and very impatient about everything. My outlook becomes more dour and I'm more prone to anxiety. Trump is declining physically. He knows it. The world knows it. He knows the world knows it. He's acting out accordingly. It's ugly for us, yes, but he's absolutely miserable every waking moment and I am overjoyed about this because it is at least a tiny consolation. Every day he knows his death is coming. He can suppress this knowing all he wants, but his body knows, and his subconscious knows. Death by a thousand invisible poisonous cuts!

by Anonymousreply 48October 7, 2025 4:13 PM

[quote]I can't see some of the others getting on board with Trump going to war with America.

But that's not necessary, R22. That's the whole idea of the so-called "unitary executive." Trump (as Commander-in-Chief) gives an order, and it is followed by the military -- no Congress (or anyone else) necessary.

Members of the military are not only trained to obey orders, there is built-in punishment for when they don't. For lesser offenses (which can be whatever the military wants them to be (even not making your bed if some higher-up is out to get you), there is the Article 15 process (see link). For serious offenses, there is the court-martial (i.e., military court) after which (if found guilty), the offender can spend years at Ft. Leavenworth, KS making big rocks into little ones, after which the offender will still get a Dishonorable Discharge.

My guess is, if the Commander-in-Chief gives an order, most will be loath to disobey it no matter what it is.

It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

R25 will believe whatever bullshit Trump/MAGAts/Republicans are trying to shovel in his piehole.

by Anonymousreply 50October 7, 2025 4:38 PM

R46 - where in my comment did I say to watch Fox or even mention that channel? ALL news and social media are coordinated, manipulative propaganda. ALL OF IT. Reich may have good intentions and genuinely feels he's being earnest and helpful, but at this point, anything that spirals the population into deeper fear and helplessness is part of and contributing to the propaganda problem.

by Anonymousreply 51October 7, 2025 5:10 PM

[quote]You're only halfway correct, [R25]. This "patina of cool" you assume the right wing have gained especially by younger generations is an illusion brought to you by the same captured and manipulated news and social media in order to create that very idea in the general populace.

Illusion or no, brought to us by "manipulated news and social media" or no....that fact is, it's there. The pendulum swings.

by Anonymousreply 52October 7, 2025 5:28 PM

Disagree R52. If you believe the "pendulum" is swinging to support the right, you're falling in line with the propaganda. It's about the evolution of cycles, which is not represented by the limited back and forth movement of a pendulum. If anything, what's going on will have more of a boomerang effect and it's not going to benefit those in power because they expose their paranoia and fear by how much they're acting absolutely bonkers desperate right now. I remember when my parents felt they were losing control over me when I was a kid, the punishments and groundings would get increasingly more severe in direct proportion to how much they felt their authority was evaporating. That's the same thing that is happening now. That's not a pendulum swing, it's the cyclic evolution of society in response to authoritarian overreach. This is exactly why these loons are taking over the news and social media. They are frantic to control the narratives from as many points as possible.

by Anonymousreply 53October 7, 2025 6:29 PM

What's happening right now is not "a pendulum." It's a sledgehammer. It's fast, direct, massively powerful and intended to cause pain and destruction.

Wale the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 54October 7, 2025 7:06 PM

Fascists always eat their own

by Anonymousreply 55October 7, 2025 7:33 PM

[quote]If you believe the "pendulum" is swinging to support the right, you're falling in line with the propaganda.

You're wrong.

The extremes of the left have produced the swing to the right. Whether it's in the US or Europe.

Here's an easy example. And it was discussed on another thread: go to the democrats.org website . Scroll down the homepage. Look at the photos with the titles "Leadership", "The Issues", "Contact", "Take Action".

Now at the top menu, click on "Where We Stand"".

The message from the Democrat party is clear. You wonder why young men feel they don't belong and why they've veered to the right? That has nothing to do with Fox News.

The trans issue, the "woke" (for want of a better word) issue, mass immigration and so on, has made an impact and has been a turn-off to many. Both here and abroad.

You may think they're fools. Fine. But that's the world we live in.

People are not afraid to come out as being on the right as they once were, and the Democratic Party needs to deal with it.

by Anonymousreply 57October 7, 2025 8:02 PM

You're obviously still basing your opinion on all the stale handwringing over the "woke agenda" or you've fallen for the ludicrous "but but but it's SOCIALISM" red scare-style tactics. This propaganda is making you believe people are running to embrace the right wing nutjob ideology. All that has happened is the percentage of the population that used to hide their xenophobia, misogyny, bigotry, and homophobia are now more comfortable being obvious about it. It's the ugly exposure of what was already there, carefully concealed, not a transfer of ideological sympathies from one "side" to the other "side." It's most certainly not pretty, but the exposure of such gross bigotry is necessary.

by Anonymousreply 58October 7, 2025 9:38 PM

R56 is a DL classic, spewing the same old fucking garbage, day in and day out, in the same tedious, lecturing schoolmarm manner.

A classic example of if you throw enough shit against the wall, eventually something is going to have to stick.

by Anonymousreply 59October 7, 2025 9:46 PM

Also, R56, it's hilarious that you think any "mission statements" put out by the Democratic Party should be taken seriously at this point. Of COURSE, they've veered to the right. My god, sweetie, have you even been watching the last 20 years? They follow the orders of the same wealthy corporations or other corrupt individuals with money as the GOP. That much should be so obvious by now. This way, the Democrats can pretend powerlessness, which is exactly the game they're playing now. And if you want evidence look at all their bullshit "reach across the aisle" approaches over the years, and even more importantly, look at how many Democrats voted to approve and/or confirm Trump's most egregious appointments. GTFO with acting like the two-party system isn't merely one party pretending to be two sides at odds with one another.

by Anonymousreply 60October 7, 2025 9:46 PM

Yep, R59. I laughed out loud when I read that comment because, yeesh, it's so pathetically obvious they've been spoon-fed the hysteria and are enjoying it.

by Anonymousreply 61October 7, 2025 9:52 PM

R56 is spouting Propaganda and talking points from his team leader. Extremists on the Right.

by Anonymousreply 62October 7, 2025 10:41 PM

The coordinated and stale propaganda from our resident and steadfast right-wing trolls is reaching levels of absurdity never before seen on DL.

by Anonymousreply 63October 7, 2025 10:51 PM

Posts R58 etc are exactly why it's going to be hard for the Democratic Party to dig itself out of the hole it has dug itself into.

by Anonymousreply 64October 7, 2025 11:37 PM

Posts like R64 are exactly why Trump is going to mske the entire USA look like Germany in May of 1945 and idiots like R64 will still think Trump is a god. The blind devotion and fanaticism to a fourth rate cult leader is so strikingly similar. It' frightening to think human beings can be do easily duped and led astray.

by Anonymousreply 65October 8, 2025 12:01 AM

Note the stupidity of R65.

Simply stating the TRUTH, that the country has veered to the right (see the election results of 2024), means that I believe Trump is a God.

THAT's how low IQ he is.

by Anonymousreply 66October 8, 2025 12:09 AM

Your self righteous indignation has been duly noted, R69, aka Defucktardo.

But a variation of Eistein's definition of insanity most certainly applies here: posting the same old, rewarmed, rehashed shit over and over and over and expecting anybody to give a dead rat's ass about it.

[quote]It's the ugly exposure of what was already there, carefully concealed, not a transfer of ideological sympathies from one "side" to the other "side."

You're wrong.

The Guardian: "Data says Americans are becoming more conservative. "

"Earlier this summer, Gallup published some surprising numbers: more Americans identified as “socially conservative” than at any time in about a decade. Thirty-eight per cent said they were “conservative” or “very conservative” when it came to social issues, as opposed to 29% who said they were “liberal” or “very liberal”. A year earlier, 33% were on the conservative side, and 30% liberal."

Mind you, this was in 2013, the 2024 election provided further proof. And recent polling shows Democrats with a lower favorability than Republicans.

Also, this from Pew Research JULY 23, 2025: "46% identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, and 45% identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party. This balance of partisanship is similar to 2024, but the current near-even division marks a shift from the affiliation advantage the Democratic Party enjoyed a few years ago."

by Anonymousreply 71October 8, 2025 2:02 AM

Can we stop pretending Biden, DNC, and Kamala didn't screw voters over in 2024?

by Anonymousreply 72October 8, 2025 2:17 AM

Hey, so this is real bad:

[quote] A Trump administration official has allegedly claimed the US president has "plenary authority" while on a live interview with CNN. White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller made the comment in relation to deploying National Guard troops in Portland, Oregon. But the viral moment came immediately after, when he appeared to cut himself off mid-sentence, leaving his statement incomplete.

[quote] "I would note the administration won an identical case in the Ninth Circuit just a few months ago with respect to the federalising of the California National Guard. Under Title 10 of the US Code, the president has plenary authority. Has —."

[quote] Mr Miller then appeared to freeze on camera mid-sentence. Immediately after, CNN host Boris Sanchez suggested that there were some technical difficulties that forced them to take a commercial break.

[quote] What is plenary power? It refers to a government official having absolute control on a matter, according to Cornell Law School's Legal Information Institute. That means a president with plenary power on a particular issue wouldn't need approval from other government bodies when making decisions.

CNN has edited out his use of the term "plenary power" from the clips they uploaded to YouTube. CNN is covering up for Miller, who slipped up and showed what they have planned in the coming days and weeks. So far, crickets from the mainstream American press.

Thanks for posting, R73. That pretty much affirms what I said at R49.

But at this point, you'd have to be a naked mole rat to miss what's happening.

by Anonymousreply 74October 8, 2025 6:18 AM

I feel like Miller and the Media in general is goading Trump on.

by Anonymousreply 75October 8, 2025 2:41 PM

R71 Absolutely hilarious that you are quoting "data" from a legacy media outlet that we all know has been compromised with a veer to the right, and presents RWNJ propaganda like it's "news." Same as ALL the other legacy/status quo media. Sure, that's gotta be trustworthy data, right? GTFO.

by Anonymousreply 76October 8, 2025 4:22 PM

Also, for R71, the models for polling are no longer trustworthy or accurate. An accurate, clean, sample model is simply not possible in today's perpetually online world because the models still being used are outdated and unable to accommodate the behavior of younger generations with regard to polling methodology. Sample sizes are also never large enough, and thus all polls revert to providing slanted info due to the outdated models being used. So none of that polling info you provide can be trusted to be an accurate assessment.

by Anonymousreply 77October 8, 2025 4:28 PM

"Can we stop pretending Biden, DNC, and Kamala didn't screw voters over in 2024?"

Can we stop pretending 80 million American voters are intelligent, rational, thinking human beings when they voted for a convicted felon, child rapist, violent sexual predator, habitual chronic liar, and deeply, emotionally disturbed man child for POTUS in 2024?

by Anonymousreply 78October 8, 2025 4:41 PM

R56 has been on the Ignored Ward for some time now.

Does he cut-and-paste from other sources and claim the text as being original? Notice his usage of "Democrat Party" and "Democratic Party" within the same post.

by Anonymousreply 79October 8, 2025 8:26 PM

R77 Yeah, OK: the country has not veered to the right.

All polling is wrong. All those votes Trump (Trump! of all people) got, do not indicate that the country has veered to the right. All 7 swing states. All those EC votes. All false.

The country is solidly on the left. Kamala won.

2026 and 2028 will be a breeze.

Anything else, we should all believe?

by Anonymousreply 80October 8, 2025 8:38 PM

R80 now you're being ridiculous, but I'd expect that from you. I never implied Kamala won. Never implied the country is solidly left. Never said all the EC votes were false. I did say that the news media and social media, with the help of RWNJ slanted narratives and bot-driven engagement, have been attempting to manipulate the public's perception so that they feel fearful, helpless, and anxious. The current government and thus news and social media have a strong interest in making the country believe the country is veering to the right. If anything, more and more people are opting out of the corrupt "lesser than two evils" voting system which is why it seems like a lot of the country isn't participating in voting. However, the data and polling on those numbers is ALSO suspect because of outdated polling models used to gather that data. In addition, the corporations that are capitulating to this authoritarian administration are not doing so because they are willingly "veering to the right." If you think that, then you're even more dense than I thought. The corps are doing it so Trump won't single them out for some kind of punishment, and to get legislation put through that favors their profit margins. They do the same thing when the Democratic Party has been in power - that's where all those DEI policies came in, remember? The corporate wealthy take the "when in Rome" approach. They'll bend the knee, kiss the ring, and genuflect to whichever political party can give them more wealth. And they'll vomit out ideological platitudes to appease the idiots in office.

[quote]..... in making the country believe the country is veering to the right.

You're wrong.

The US IS veering to the right. It's not some illusion.

The REASONS for the trend are up for discussion and debate, but the RESULT is that the country has veered to the right.

You can say until you're blue in the face that it hasn't, but you're denying reality.
