It looks like the guy with the knife was a Door Dasher who double parked while delivering food, blocking Sanchez’s vehicle when Sanchez was in a hurry to get out of there. That’s what prompted the argument which led to a fight, and the Dasher claims he brandished the knife in self defense.

Mark Sanchez, the former N.F.L. quarterback who is a Fox Sports commentator, was arrested on Saturday after he was stabbed during a confrontation with a truck driver outside an Indianapolis hotel, according to court documents.
Mr. Sanchez was arrested at a hospital on Saturday and charged with battery resulting in injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, the police said. All of the charges are misdemeanors.
Mr. Sanchez was intoxicated when he confronted a truck driver who was parked in the loading dock of the Westin Hotel in downtown Indianapolis, according to charging documents filed in Marion County Court on Sunday.
The driver, an unidentified 69-year-old man who wears hearing aids, had arrived to recycle the hotel’s frying oil early on Saturday, the police said.
Mr. Sanchez confronted the driver at the loading dock, saying the man did not have permission to be there and that the hotel did not want its fryer oil replaced, according to court documents.
The driver, who told the police he did not have his hearing aids in at the time, was confused and told Mr. Sanchez he needed to call his manager. He said Mr. Sanchez smelled of alcohol and that his speech was slurred, according to court documents.
Mr. Sanchez then attempted to enter the truck cab, blocked the driver from retrieving his cellphone, and eventually shoved him. The man, fearing he was in danger, pepper-sprayed Mr. Sanchez, whom he did not recognize, court records said.
But Mr. Sanchez wiped his face, the driver told the police, and continued advancing toward him.
“This guy is trying to kill me,” the driver recalled thinking, according to the police.
Fearing for his life, the driver took out a knife and stabbed Mr. Sanchez, who eventually ran away.

FOX affiliate exclusive, so I will cut and paste if you don't want to click:
Scott Bennett was closing up Loughmiller’s Pub & Eatery at 12:30 a.m. Saturday when an injured man started pounding on the bar’s window.
“As I was closing, somebody was beating on the window, just a random person,” Bennett said. “I looked and saw that the person needed help and went outside and the person had blood on him, and he said that he’d been shot.
“Brought him inside and laid him down, and we called 911 and put towels over the injuries that he had.”
Bennett didn’t know it at the time, but he was trying to save the life of former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, who was in Indianapolis to call the Colts-Raiders game Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium for Fox Sports.
“There was blood, definitely, it wasn’t shooting out or anything like that, but there was definitely blood,” Bennett said. “Some from the chest and some from the abdomen and crotch region, there was blood on his pants. I was trying to talk to him a little bit, tried to get his name, couldn’t really understand what he was saying. I didn’t recognize him at all.”

Wind sprints are something athletes do to increase explosive speed and endurance. You essentially run as fast as you as you can for a certain distance, rest, then do it again. Rinse and repeat. It seems very odd that Sanchez was doing this.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | October 6, 2025 7:12 PM |
Good that he's been charged with a felony! Does Indiana or Indianapolis have any elder abuse laws? Body slamming a 69 year old against a wall and then down onto concrete could have resulted in incredible grevious bodily injury or even paralysis or death had the victim gone down at a bad angle. It could happen to younger people, as well, but past a certain age the vulnerabilities increase and the damage is far worse.

Many fans like you are feigning "What, I don't understand? I've never met Mark, but I *know* this isn't him" while trashing the Indy police, r151. You're trying to be subtle, but it ain't working
Why trash police in a conservative city in an even more conservative state? Every answer you need is upthread if you're minimally cognizant. We pray for your health and your ability to remain non-suicidal once the surveillance tapes are released.

R151, the complete incident is one video, possibly from several different security cameras, but it's unlikely that there's any audio. It appears that Tole, the guy with the truck, pulled up in the alley in back of the Westin hotel. Sanchez, who was already there, apparently stoned and running around like a fool, objected to the truck being in the loading dock. Tole said that he could smell alcohol on Sanchez's breath. Sanchez tried to climbed into the cab of the truck (perhaps to drive it out of his way); Tole objected. Sanchez didn't like that; he threw Tole against the wall. Tole pepper-sprayed him but Sanchez kept attacking him. Tole pulled a knife and stabbed Sanchez several times. Apparently Sanchez kept hitting Tole and Tole stabbed him a fourth time, which finally seemed to have an effect. Sanchez ran away and must have been found somewhere bleeding.
Sanchez later said that he could not remember what had happened.

R152, what are you even fucking saying? I simply said I don't understand everything that happened, asshole. Thanks R154 for the recap. I'm still wondering why the hell Sanchez felt like he was the loading dock police. Drugs and alcohol I suppose.

Indianapolis is blue, not conservative. You can see the blue blob in the middle of the state on any recent election results map.

HIs former teammates have also said that it's totally out of character, but that shows that you really don't know people as well as you think they do.

Angel dust? Is this 1979?

R162, there’s a theory that if you regularly get blasted with pepper spray you can develop a resistance to it. So maybe this has happened to Sanchez before.
