I Am Wickeded Out!

I have nothing against a heavy advertising campaign and a bit of product placement, but this second installment of Wicked is really going over the top. I just saw a commercial for Secret deodorant-with Wicked scents. Le Creuset is selling Wicked-themed cooking pots! At this point I am taking this as a sign: the film stinks and you need some pot to get through it.

What other Wickedness is creeping into ads and products?

And the first installment is unwatchable! UGH!!Paula Prentiss replaced Joanna Cassidy…. who was fired after filming a week of scenes. I was Wicked out after 20 minutes

The Wicked douche, which is turning women's pussies green.

Wicked candles.

Get it?

I can barely say "Wickeded"!

$750+ million worldwide, plus another $100 million from streaming, says you're wrong, R4. (And, oh dear.)

by Anonymousreply 6October 4, 2025 5:10 AM

R6 A lot of garbage produced by Hollywood has made a ton of money. Box office success often has nothing to do with the quality of the film. Maybe for an 8-year-old this film is OK but at two hours and 40 minutes it's unendurable

Not really a good idea since the movie stunk

r10 I saw that at Target the other day.

Universal has made hundreds of millions of dollars off Wicked merchandise. It's a huge cash cow for them.

They had a Wicked merch showcase at Hudson House this week. It's so fun.

by Anonymousreply 28October 4, 2025 6:55 PM

That film is for the poors who don’t read. It’s lousy fanfic.

I'd rather ride and cuddle with Jonathan Bailey.

by Anonymousreply 30October 4, 2025 7:14 PM

Aren't our landfills full enough?

by Anonymousreply 31October 4, 2025 7:14 PM

It seems the Swiffers aren’t really for Wicked. They made a display case.

Jesus Christ, can we stop with the stupid multiplication sign to mean collab?

by Anonymousreply 33October 4, 2025 8:05 PM

When I started this thread I had no idea just how many product placements there were! Whatever happened to product placements matching the film?

by Anonymousreply 34October 4, 2025 8:10 PM

YOU MUST CONSUME OR THE FREE WORLD DIES!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 35October 4, 2025 8:37 PM

I wasn't that impressed by the first film. I will see the second one eventually, probably on streaming, but I am not going to seek it out. The musical never did anything for me, and I saw it around 2005 (Rue McClanahan was in it at the time). The film seemed really overly bright and washed out, too, which seemed like an odd choice.

by Anonymousreply 36October 4, 2025 10:30 PM

I regretted watching the first film in theaters. It was a disjointed bunch of vinaigrettes stringed together with no rhyme or reason and absolutely no pacing. It works much better on streaming where you can watch in chunks.

by Anonymousreply 37October 4, 2025 10:33 PM

I can't imagine that some of these product branding deals are profitable for the products.

A while back I saw Carnation creamers for coffe which were branded for White Lotus - huh? There was a Thai pineapple coconut flavor.

Some of these just don't make any sense.

by Anonymousreply 38October 4, 2025 10:41 PM

"a disjointed bunch of vinaigrettes"

heheheh

by Anonymousreply 39October 4, 2025 11:10 PM

Take the gas pipe OP.

by Anonymousreply 40October 4, 2025 11:14 PM

I too CANNOT WAIT until Wicked is behind us FOREVER.

by Anonymousreply 41October 4, 2025 11:36 PM

All of the Wicked merch will be coming soon ... to your local Dollar Tree. Or Marshall's. Or Ross. Or TJ Maxx. Or wherever things go now that Big Lots and the 99 Cents store are dead.

by Anonymousreply 42October 5, 2025 3:19 AM

I've never seen it but if kids like it, that's okay.

by Anonymousreply 43October 5, 2025 3:30 AM

[Quote] I haven’t seen one Wicked ad or product yet.

I haven’t either, r11 — I think most of these Kmart kweens spend all day watching network television, after having listened to the “morning zoo” with John Ray and Billy Bob on “Quad City’s number one radio station, KFLY-AM!”

by Anonymousreply 44October 5, 2025 3:31 AM

[quote]I haven’t seen one Wicked ad or product yet.

I'll you one better.

I haven't seen Wicked yet.

by Anonymousreply 45October 5, 2025 4:02 AM

I said nothing about quality, R7. I said $750+ million contradicts the claim it is unwatchable.

Whether you are superior to the people who paid the $750 million to watch it is another question entirely, but seems to be the one you want to discuss.

by Anonymousreply 46October 5, 2025 7:35 AM

[quote]I said nothing about quality, [R7]. I said $750+ million contradicts the claim it is unwatchable.

Exactly what Faye Dunaway said to Della Reese right before she crashed her fat black ass through that glass door.

by Anonymousreply 47October 5, 2025 7:46 AM

Is there a wicked douche?

by Anonymousreply 48October 5, 2025 9:13 AM

Disney must be KICKING themselves for not buying the book.

by Anonymousreply 49October 5, 2025 9:25 AM

I can enjoy midget anorexic songstress in small doses but I can't last longer than a minute of Cynthia Erivo on my screen.

by Anonymousreply 50October 5, 2025 10:47 AM

R48 continued - mint and bubblegum.

by Anonymousreply 51October 6, 2025 12:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 52October 6, 2025 4:52 PM

No, he gets nothing.

by Anonymousreply 54October 6, 2025 4:58 PM

This reminds me of the 90s when you’d get a toy related to whichever new movie Disney was releasing with a Happy Meal. Albeit, that was mild and marketing is now cranked up to 11 to ensure as much money as possible is made.

A wicked cooking pot? Good grief.
