A portrait of President Donald Trump may be featured on a commemorative $1 coin issued by the United States Mint in honor of America’s 250th birthday in 2026, according to first drafts of the images confirmed by the US Treasury.

He's probably going to fire the artist for the realistic heavy crows feet. Didn't he and the MAGAtry lose their shit on some oil painter because they thought s/he was too life-like and insufficiently deferential in the rendition? Death threats, IIRC.

We can expect to see this kind of shit all through the 250th celebration year effectively ruining it. Disgusting.

Can't be, R6; this artist's rendering doesn't show Trump's sanitary pad/ear bandage.

R14, yup, Trump would love to be a Roman Emperor.

Sometimes, AI can be awfully handy.
[QUOTE]Roman Emperor Vitellius is the most famous glutton, known for his extraordinary and decadent banquets, which included elaborate dishes like flamingo tongues and peacock brains.
[QUOTE]The definition of gluttony: Vitellius was known for his extreme indulgence in food, to the extent that his name became a synonym for gluttony.
[QUOTE]Excessive feasting: He famously held four elaborate dinners daily and one legendary banquet that reportedly bankrupted the imperial treasury, according to the historian Suetonius.
[QUOTE]Lavish ingredients: His dishes included exotic and expensive items such as pike livers, pheasant brains, peacock brains, and flamingo tongues, which were transported to Rome by naval ships.

He's really turning into a modern day Nero.
History shows this will all implode (it always does) but critical mass is running late.

Child molestor coins? God approves!

It will implode R17 but not for a long time yet. Trump is just a figurehead. He was the glue that got the MAGA Party elected. Trump is the clown and the entertainment. Trump captures the news cycle and drowns out everything else.
The real people who are running the US Federal government are Miller, Vought et al. They keep Trump busy and allow him his pet projects and pet executive orders for show and pamper his ego for the base while the real lasting damage is currently being done at great pace behind the scenes. At great pace.
Not very many Americans seem to grasp what's actually happening which is very worrying.

Slightly different take, R19. Trump is a bit more than a clown or glue. As a completely unprincipled demagogue, he has great skill in identifying and riding whatever populist waves would bring him to power, and simultaneously riling up the energy in those waves.
Much of the energy comes from Christian Nationalism—the perversion of Christianity with roots in the decision of the Southern Baptists to defend slavery and worship wealth. Their focus is on gender conformity and combating feminism and LGBT rights. They also are hostile to science and reason
Closely related is naked white supremacism resentful of the civil rights movement, demographic change and immigration.
Since his only interest is accumulating power to punish his perceived enemies and enrich himself, that left a vacuum for other extreme elements of the Republican Party to buy their way in to power by helping him with money or by providing government leaders who would be given free reign as long as they didn’t interfere with his private agenda. They are not so much telling him what to do as they are taking advantage of his vast ignorance and indifference to accomplish their own agendas by riding the waves
It’s all for sale—policy, pardons, merger approvals .

Doesn’t an individual have to be dead first to be commemorated on U.S. currency?
