The abuse ‘must end’ the former child star behind Laura Ingalls Wilder declared of horse-drawn carriages.
Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert sent a direct message about the business of horse-drawn carriages in New York City.
On Sept. 26, the former child star behind Laura Ingalls Wilder in the beloved historical drama took to Instagram with a video to raise awareness for the conditions horses endure while pulling carriages near Central Park.
“This is disgusting and must end. No one should be allowed to profit off another of god’s creatures’ suffering,” Gilbert, 61, declared in the caption. “We need to pressure the city of #newyork #newyork #nyc to end this barbaric practice … These horses deserve freedom. They deserve to be horses!!!”
In the featured video, which some may find triggering, a woman’s voice narrates alongside clips of horses collapsing from heat and exhaustion while pulling carriages in NYC.
