R5, Drew Tuma is not Reggie Acqui's "girlfriend". They are both married (to men) & both say that their marriages are happy (for whatever that may be worth) -- Tuma married just a few years ago, Aqui has been married for quite awhile.

I really like Tuma, who's a good meteorologist in addition to seeming like a genuinely nice guy. Acqui does a fine job (used to be a correspondent on CNN) but comes off as grumpy &/or childish sometimes. For example, he bashes Groundhog Day every year without explaining why (what could he possibly have against that?) & it just seems like a jerk move. And he gushes about Beyonce & Disneyland like a middle school student. Silly.

I liked Reggie. He was a breath of fresh air in the morning, and he camped it up quite a bit at times. That probably scared some conservative viewers.

I remember when they sent him to cover the Republican convention in 2016. He was extremely professional when talking to the MAGA nutjobs and reported everything objectively. I was worried for him, though, afraid some nutjob Trumper might beat him up.

I assume you're referring to ratings or some such measuring stick that KGO uses to decide which personality is most popular with viewers, return on investment? I'm so old that I remember my parents watching Huntley & Brinkley every night -- we all preferred Brinkley because he was funny but no one paid attention to our preferences & of course they should not because both guys did a great job & served different purposes. This is a news show, for goodness sake, not some kind of contest between the various employees of a TV channel (& one owned by Disney at that!).

He had a terrible gambling addiction. He lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, which led him to start drinking, which was interfering with his job at GMA. He decided to step away, deal with his addictions, and come back to the Bay Area.

Good for him, R44. I think he does a great job & really doesn't seem as old as he is (70s?) -- I knew he used to gamble, didn't realize that he drank too. He's overcome a lot & seems to be doing very well now.
