It's Pete's fault!

Dear Mr. Duffy:
Since you took over DofT in January, there seems to be a lot of shit like this happening a lot more often. What gives, asshole?

It's a hangover from the Sleepy Dead Zombie Joe Biden years! It will take years to recover from that disaster. Nothing whatever to do with me! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I recently flew and our pilot was a woman. I could almost hear the collective sighs of the MAGAts on board.

"One person was taken to a hospital, airport officials said, in the rare and frightening incident."
Not so rare, really, at this point.

Our Secretary of Transportation is famous for being on MTV and he's not George Michael!
I was a contestant on Remote Control once, can I be Secretary of Education?

Roanoke passengers again. Last week a United Express plane overran the runway down there. Everyone was ok.

How the hell can something like this happen, given that the planes are moving relatively slowly when taxiing and that, obviously, the people in the cockpits should be able to see the other plane?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 2, 2025 2:26 PM |
Another Trump plane crash is not unexpected.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 2, 2025 2:31 PM |
Thanks for sharing, R12, but the news articles about the LaGuardia collision said that BOTH planes were taxiing, whereas in the story you posted, one of them was taking off and so was obviously moving much, much faster.

Well, start by firing and insulting all of the experienced air traffic controllers so that when you discover that they are in fact needed, they won't come back because you've insulted them and told them that you do not value their education, experience, sacrifice and the grit it takes to do this incredibly high-stress job. Think of it; one false word can cause the deaths of hundreds of people and a spectacle shown all over the world. Unlike political jobs, there are no do-overs in ATC. Duffy and Trump told air traffic controllers they are on their own, so they are acting like it.
Then, denigrate and dismiss all of the female, black, hispanic and all foreign workers who work in international travel. Again, all jobs that demand education, skills, experience and commitment as one wrong, mis-translated or misspoken or misunderstood word from the cockpit can result in disaster.
Finally, act like the air traffic record that we've maintained for decades — air travel is, or was up until January 20, 2025, still the safest method of transportation — will continue without disruption despite the catastrophic disruptions the new administration has wrought.
It's called cause and effect. And it doesn't take an aerospace engineer to see the relationship.

A Delta regional took off on the wrong runway (it was both shorter and under construction) at Bluegrass in Lexington KY and the co-pilot basically drove it into a barn killing everyone BUT himself.
Stay away from Delta regionals people.

Another convenient distraction from Epstein and Autocracy.

Air traffic controllers are "essential" so they must continue to do their jobs during the current government shutdown - but they are not getting paychecks. I can only imagine how much the resentment will build.

Damn Delta regional pilots!
One or both possibly related to Mr. Magoo?

After duct-taping the damaged planes pilots took to the air…

by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 2, 2025 7:15 PM |
I would expect this type of thing from Spirit Airlines because they would have to deal with some wig snatching while landing and taxiing. But Delta branded operators? Hold me David because I am scared!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 2, 2025 8:13 PM |
The crash was due to wokeness!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 2, 2025 8:16 PM |
A passenger was playing Bad Bunny and the pilot had a seizure
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 2, 2025 8:38 PM |
I understand all of those things, R15. But I still don't understand how two aircraft who are taxiing on runways -- not taking off or landing, but taxiing -- could crash into each other, since they are both moving at relatively slow speeds and the personnel in the cockpits of each can presumably look out of the windows and clearly see the other plane. I would appreciate it if someone could explain this to me.

Planes don't have brakes, R27.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 4, 2025 3:52 AM |
OK, some dumbass won't get that R28 is rhetorical because of course planes have brakes, just not like the brakes on a car. Even these smaller planes are tens of thousands of pounds and require a great deal of force to move, so once in motion they don't stop quickly. Plus, you can't just swerve out of the way because even small planes require a lot of room to maneuver.
We have ground control for a reason; just not one a MAGAt can understand.

Have you ever been on one or at least sober when it landed?

Understood, but BECAUSE plans are so huge, that makes them all the more easily visible from cockpit windows. And for the last time: Since the planes are moving relatively slowly when taxiing, and the people in the cockpits can obviously look out the windows, regardless of what they're being told by ATC they should be able to avoid colliding with each other.

Already egregiously overworked people in an extremely high-stress occupation who now also have to worry about how they’re going to afford to live and support their families? What could go wrong!
