Happy 94th Birthday to Angie Dickinson
Actress Angie Dickinson turns 94 today. Born Angeline Brown, she got her start on television in the 1950s, starring in anthology series. She has appeared in more than 50 films. She's known to television audiences as Sergeant "Pepper" Anderson in the NBC crime series Police Woman which aired from 1974-78.
Two years later, she was offered the role of 'Krystle Carrington' on the ABC drama 'Dynasty', but turned it down (at the time of the offer, George Peppard was cast as 'Blake Carrington'). When the show became a hit on ABC, Dickinson expressed interest to Spelling for the role of 'Sable Colby' five years later, when Aaron Spelling was creating the spin-off 'Dynasty II: The Colbys'. She co-starred in the 1985 mini-series 'Hollywood Wives' which helped her come close to being cast, until Spelling saw actress Stephanie Beacham in the ITV drama 'Connie' and made her the offer, instead.

Happy birthday, Angie! You will forever live in my mind as the person that told Pat Sajak politely to go to hell.

Her daughter Nikki was a micropreemie like me, she weighed 1lb 12oz and nobody thought she would survive. She had a wicked case of Asperger's. Had she not committed suicide she would be turning 60 next year. 😞

Angie has always had this mysterious allure and straight guys like my dad were all for it.
She wasn't the prettiest but she had "it". And she's kept her secrets to herself which is amazing. Angie saw a lot.
I remember "Police Woman" as a kid and I always wanted to fix her hair. It was never right.

So today you're a world-renowned hairstylist to the stars ? You list the Kardashians, JLo, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as your clients - all because you wanted to fix Pepper Anderson's hair back in 1974-78 ?

Long after the Rat Pack passed into that great casino in the sky, two of their greatest "broads" are still around: AD and Shirley MacLaine.

Dressed to Kill felt like a comeback to the big screen.
I remember staying up for a late movie, The Sins of Rachel Cade, when I was very young and my older sisters were babysitting. I'm sure it didn't get much of it. Then a bit later she was doing cheesy TV roles, like Circle of Fear, just prior to Police Woman. For some reason I initially thought Police Woman was a spinoff of Police Story.
Loved the opening of Police Woman.
Happy Birthday to the old gal

Was she included in that DL list of "great Hollywood broads"? She should have been. I think she came along just as the old-timers were fading and trying to figure out a way to stay relevant in the about-to-be swinging 1960s. I bet she could tell a million stories, if only the ones from Roddy McDowell's Sunday parties at Malibu. Probably not many left -- Jane Fonda, Mia Farrow, RJ Wagner. . .

Angie really lucked into her comeback role in Dressed to Kill. Brian De Palma was obsessed with working with the idea of working with Lucille Ball (he originally wanted her for the Margot Kidder role in Sisters but she was filming Mame at the time) and he essentially wrote the film for her. He was very excited when she said she wanted to do Dressed to Kill and told her that she could use a body double for the shower scene but she said that she was proud of her body and looked great for a woman her age and wanted to show it off. It was expected to be a career game changer leading to a whole new career onscreen, think On Golden Pond, Driving Miss Daisy, or Extremities...Unfortunately, she withdrew from the production at the last minute on the guidance of someone close to her and DePalma had to scramble to recase very fast and someone suggested another tv icon, Angie Dickinson, and the rest is showbiz history.

Had no idea she was still alive!
I think she was a bit of a health nut over the years - I’m glad it paid off.

I really enjoyed the neonoir film Point Blank, partly for her performance in it (also Lee Marvin’s).
