R1 stop showing up to work.

Do they strike at the DMV, OP/Teafake?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 30, 2025 10:04 PM |
R3 It doesn’t matter if people have to go homeless. It must be done. And yes, it would work. I think less than 5% participation is historically enough to bring any economy to its knees.

It's a big step, but the system does ultimately depend on acquiescence. And yes, even just 5 percent simply not showing up, everywhere, in every job, all across the nation, would be a hell of a statement. 10 percent better of course, and so on. But even small percentages put the ownership class on notice.

If the bulwark, the majority report, midas touch, etc. all pushed it, it could happen. I’m disappointed in the lack of organizing and action from left wing and anti authoritarian independent media outfits.

I think a general strike doesn't mean EVERYBODY stops working. I think it is coordinated to shut down different things at different times but there needs to be support structures in place. Why aren't the Democratic leaders helping?

A sex strike would be far more effective.

OP walks through life with a bullhorn, a Che Guevara t-shirt and a keffiyeh from Temu.

How do we still have queens acting like everything is perfectly normal?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 30, 2025 10:51 PM |
It’s been tried the Feds brought out the military to crack heads and they did crack heads.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 30, 2025 10:52 PM |
where and when r14, what are you talking about?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 30, 2025 10:59 PM |
I think Trump is terrified about these mass demonstrations and he knows we are going to have a massive protest on October 18th. So his visit with the generals and the massage about domestic use of the military, was very much a warning. of course the Generals could flip the script and stage a military coup.

How about voting?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 30, 2025 11:13 PM |
This is an important part of west coast history.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 30, 2025 11:19 PM |
But voting is boring, R17. The People must Rise Up and burn everything down! I’ll be over here, pushing people of color to the front lines to make sure they are seen! Besides, somebody has to take charge after the revolt, and with my breeding and connections, I’m the logical choice!

What we all ought to be doing RIGHT NOW is pressuring the Republicans in t he House and Senate. We need how many? 4in each House to join the Dems and put an end to all this shit.

As we saw with ABC/Kimmel/Sinclair/Nextstar, economic boycotts work. People can lose their jobs if they strike, but they can't force us to spend money if and where we don't want to.
As an alternative to a strike, I'd like to see us clog the streets with traffic so much that it brought commerce to a halt. All we'd have to do is get in our cars and drive to the nearest port, and then circle. If traffic in our major cities halts at rush hour, imagine if it halted for a day, or a few days... it would scare the living crap out of TPTB. And when they roll out the tanks as a show of force, it slows things down even more... who wants to leave the house when you might get crushed by tank, caught in cross fire, or worse. More economic collapse. Eventually, the corporations will tire of it and will bring force on the administration to back down.

[quote] It doesn’t matter if people have to go homeless. It must be done.
And pray tell, just how many of us who are living paycheck to paycheck must go live in the woods, fighting off the wild Brenda Dicksons for food and shelter, for this necessary endeavor to have its intended effect?

R22, It's BrendaD Ickson!

Stikes are pretty common in Europe -and they work. The trick is to organize them so you get the biggest impact with the lowest participation. Air traffic controllers can't strike without getting fired, but airport baggage handlers can. Longshoremen and teamsters can strike... Think about the impact of those "day without an immigrant" events. People tend to drift through their days without realizing just how much they depend on Uber drivers and grocery baggers. Also, a general strike is for a set period of time -a day or two only. It's not like a labor dispute where the strike continues until the dispute is resolved. Its point it to show how important workers are in keeping our country going.
And there's nothing wrong with a bullhorn and a Che Guevara t-shirt -if they are used to make conditions better for people! Bending over and taking it in the ass is fine in the bedroom, but not at work.

People don't want to lose their jobs. So I think a general strike may be a great idea, but may not be practical. I do like the idea of traffic slowdowns and clogging up traffic so work comes to a halt. "Gee, boss, I was caught in traffic and it just wouldn't move."
