JK Rowling DESTROYS Emma Watson

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 55October 1, 2025 4:33 AM

"I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points.

I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days.

Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn't want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them.

However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public. Years after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.

When you've known people since they were ten years old it's hard to shake a certain protectiveness. Until quite recently, I hadn't managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio. For the past few years, I've repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Emma specifically, most notably on the Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Ironically, I told the producers that I didn't want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said.

The television presenter in the attached clip highlights Emma's 'all witches' speech, and in truth, that was a turning point for me, but it had a postscript that hurt far more than the speech itself. Emma asked someone to pass on a handwritten note from her to me, which contained the single sentence 'I'm so sorry for what you're going through' (she has my phone number). This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family's safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness.

Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is. She'll never need a homeless shelter. She's never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I'd be astounded if she's been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her 'public bathroom' is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who's identified into the women's prison?

I wasn't a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women's rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.

The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me - a change of tack I suspect she's adopted because she's noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was - I might never have been this honest.

Adults can't expect to cosy up to an activist movement that regularly calls for a friend's assassination, then assert their right to the former friend's love, as though the friend was in fact their mother. Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it."

by Anonymousreply 1September 29, 2025 3:55 PM

Rowling has gone off the deep end. Attacking the actors, who grew up with her, for disagreeing is low.

by Anonymousreply 2September 29, 2025 3:57 PM

"DESTROYS"

Are you 12, OP?

by Anonymousreply 3September 29, 2025 3:58 PM

This is the same woman who supported Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp. Women can rest easy knowing that JK Rowling is fighting male abusers.

by Anonymousreply 4September 29, 2025 3:58 PM

Rowling sounds unhinged.

by Anonymousreply 5September 29, 2025 3:59 PM

Woman who uses male/nonbinary pen names leads worldwide purge of trans people.

by Anonymousreply 6September 29, 2025 4:01 PM

Rowling sounds like someone who was publicly (and snidely) criticised by someone she was fond of, at a time when she was being threatened with everything from cancellation to rape and death, and has decided that she is no longer interested in insincerely proffered olive branches. Good for her!

by Anonymousreply 7September 29, 2025 4:03 PM

She doesn’t sound unhinged.—Kelley Wolf sounded unhinged.

by Anonymousreply 8September 29, 2025 4:04 PM

She's an exceptionally clear, articulate, forthright writer.

by Anonymousreply 9September 29, 2025 4:08 PM

I think she sounds hurt rather than unhinged.

by Anonymousreply 10September 29, 2025 4:14 PM

Emma Watson sounds tiresome to be with—hasn’t she stopped acting? Which is fine, she was terrible, but what does she do nowadays?

by Anonymousreply 11September 29, 2025 4:16 PM

R11, she is apparently studying creative writing (which I found somewhat funny after she destroyed her relationship with Rowling, who could teach her more about the subject than most colleg profs).

Besides her studies, I believe her latest appearances have involved looking pretty in adverts while wearing designer frocks.

by Anonymousreply 12September 29, 2025 4:19 PM

I just don't get it. Oh well, her circus, her monkeys as they say.

by Anonymousreply 13September 29, 2025 4:25 PM

Daniel Radcliffe and the other boys get a pass tho. Fuck off Joanne

by Anonymousreply 14September 29, 2025 4:26 PM

She sounds unhinged because this is also JK talks about. She lives and breathes revenge for her perceived enemies.

by Anonymousreply 15September 29, 2025 4:26 PM

OP is like one of those Japanese warriors stuck on an isolated island after WWII.

They keep soldiering and fighting on, despite the war being over, because that is what the emperor would want.

by Anonymousreply 16September 29, 2025 4:31 PM

Maybe Watson can give up all future residuals.

by Anonymousreply 17September 29, 2025 4:35 PM

Watson's "I'm here for all the witches, bar one" comment was the sort of thing you'd expect from a teenager, not a woman in her thirties. JKR is absolutely correct to call out her luxury beliefs.

In the next few years, we're going to see the first generation of child transitioners go to the press about what happened to them: being sterilised, never being able to experience sexual pleasure, and gradually realising that they were tricked. The backlash against trans ideology is only going to get stronger.

by Anonymousreply 18September 29, 2025 4:48 PM

[quote] Daniel Radcliffe and the other boys get a pass tho. Fuck off Joann

“However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public.”

R14, Rowling has also made a reference (in the passage above) to one of the “boys”(aka men now in their thirties) but she did so in some weird abbreviating cipher. Maybe you can decode it?

by Anonymousreply 19September 29, 2025 4:57 PM

Team J. K..

by Anonymousreply 20September 29, 2025 5:01 PM

[quote]She's an exceptionally clear, articulate, forthright writer.

And she makes it look so easy (it's not).

by Anonymousreply 21September 29, 2025 5:06 PM

Now her statement at R1 is grayed out. The trans crowd is like the Charlie Kirk crowd - they're not really interested in free speech if they don't like what you're saying.

by Anonymousreply 22September 29, 2025 5:13 PM

I can see it, R22. Try "Asbestos Eyeballs."

by Anonymousreply 23September 29, 2025 5:20 PM

“I support allllll the witches bar one”.

I’m glad Jo is in her Fuck Them Kids era

by Anonymousreply 24September 29, 2025 5:33 PM

Rowling: Trans people don’t exist, and if they did they should not be allowed any kind of life!

Watson: I don’t agree.

Rowling: Watson supports a holocaust against women!

by Anonymousreply 25September 29, 2025 5:42 PM

You’re not even trying anymore r25.

by Anonymousreply 26September 29, 2025 5:45 PM

R25 Grow up.

by Anonymousreply 27September 29, 2025 5:46 PM

[quote] Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is.

This is so true. Emma is a huge twat who is too stupid to see that she’s a twat.

by Anonymousreply 28September 29, 2025 5:54 PM

Rowlings points are valid. There is a sometimes an irresolvable conflict inherent in the idea that trans people must always be treated according to their internal identity no matter who else is involved and in what circumstances. This is particularly the case in high stress environments like rape centers and prisons

How one thinks this conflict should be resolved is a value choice. It is simply arrogant to declare one option “correct” and the other wrong. I tend to come down on the side of trans people because I think a lot of the reaction to the idea of “penis in the dressing room!” is hysteria. But rapist in a woman’s prison is a different calculus for me.

Rowling draws the line in a different place than I do and has had her life threatened for it. She has every right to be pissed.

I don't think it's hysteria. Let's be honest, if a man wants access to the women's dressing room, there's a decent chance he's a pervert. But I agree that it's less of a priority than the prison issue.

We agree!

by Anonymousreply 33September 29, 2025 9:37 PM

She recently trashed people who took issue with Charlie Kirk. But has had nothing to say about Trump or Republicans saying equally vile shit about Democrats.

People want her to be some liberal social justice warrior who's "Down with the people". But she's a conservative whose ideals are rooted in heterosexual white male privilege. Her biggest supporters in the UK are staunch conservatives, and she has tweeted and defended a few big-name rabid conservatives.

She worked in UNICEF and spent many years mired in poverty and yet her first line of defense is to throw her wealth in people's faces. She's limited. It's also why she doesn't speak in public about this and hides behind one poorly written 2020 essay mired in hysteria mixed with highly debatable facts.

[quote]which I found somewhat funny after she destroyed her relationship with Rowling, who could teach her more about the subject than most colleg prof

Or Emma could just read The Worst Witch novels instead of bothering with the second-rate knockoff.

Again, the "champion of women" could never be bothered to acknowledge the woman who clearly inspired her to write that hackneyed series. But she made sure she named the men who influenced her. That speaks volumes about her.

by Anonymousreply 34September 29, 2025 9:58 PM

R34, I read The Worst Witch novels before Harry Potter, and the latter had much more of an impact on me. The Worst Witch books were fun, but HP is timeless children's literature. Even as a kid, I didn't think the similarities went beyond surface-level. I don't think JKR is conservative, either.

by Anonymousreply 35September 29, 2025 11:01 PM

[quote] If a man wants access to the women's dressing room, there's a decent chance he's a pervert

And we know that spending years in therapy, thousands of dollars on medication and wardrobe, and tons of emotional toil looking for acceptance from family and friends is so much easier than just walking into these spaces. Why, by this point, there must be literally thousands of cases of women being assaulted by trans people in dressing rooms, restrooms and locker rooms.

What’s that? It has barely ever happened at all? How can this be?

by Anonymousreply 36September 29, 2025 11:06 PM

VALIDATE MY FETISH!!

by Anonymousreply 37September 29, 2025 11:18 PM

R36, people spend years of their lives training as priests and teachers just to get access to people they want to abuse. They spend years grooming single mothers to get access to their kids. But that aside, JKR objects to self-ID, which cuts all of the gatekeeping out.

That "thing that never happens" has been happening for years. Here's a case from last week, but there are loads more.

by Anonymousreply 38September 29, 2025 11:25 PM

Are teachers and priests despised for being teachers and priests? Where’s your outrage that even the huge majority of them who don’t victimize women and children are allowed to exist?

Should we also hound straight men, straight women and gay men out of existence because a small number of them do terrible things?

Kit, just admit that you’re a bigoted asshole and maybe you can get some help.

by Anonymousreply 39September 29, 2025 11:49 PM

Trans people aren't being hounded out of existence. They're being told that they haven't actually changed sex, and that prisons, sport, refuges etc. should be divided by sex rather than gender identity. If agreeing with that makes me a bigoted asshole, then fine.

by Anonymousreply 40September 30, 2025 12:04 AM

[quote] I don't think it's hysteria. Let's be honest, if a man wants access to the women's dressing room, there's a decent chance he's a pervert. But I agree that it's less of a priority than the prison issue.

This is an example of hysteria—hypothetical perverts so anxious to see naked women that they will present themselves as women to gain access? Really? What percentage of trans women do you suppose are actually hidden straight men looking for cheap thrills?

The fact that you define a trans woman as “a man” and likely a pervert tells me a lot about where you are coming from. They are not men and there are easier ways to see some tits.

by Anonymousreply 41September 30, 2025 12:17 AM

I don't think JK is whatever the English version of MAGA is, but I do think she is angry and fed up with the way she was treated, the death threats, physical and sexual violence, all because of an opinion. I don't believe that JK is anti-trans; she's just pro-woman.

by Anonymousreply 42September 30, 2025 12:22 AM

Post circulating on Reddit:

[quote]I've read Harry Potter more times than I'd like to admit. When you start paying attention, it's easy to see JK Rowling's distaste for women and femininity. She can talk all day about protecting "women and girls," but all of her main female characters abhor anything frilly or girly. Her female villains all align closely with femininity than her protagonists. Look at descriptions of Umbridge, and her love of pink and cats. Look at the way Harry describes Ginny as never being weepy. Look at Hermoine's annoyance at Fleur and the Beauxbatons for their love of beauty and dressing feminine.

[quote]I read the first essay JK Rowling wrote about transgender ideology. I had looked up to her for years and wanted to know what she was saying, wanted to see it myself. It's tame compared to what she's saying now, but it's the basis of her hatred. She writes that she hated being a girl as a teenager - she says it's because of "oppression" but I have never hated being a woman. I've hated the oppression of us, but I've never wanted to identify as anything else. But JK hated being a woman and she states that had being transgender been popular when she was a teen, she probably would've transitioned to being a man. I'm not usually one to say "oh they're homophobic so they must be gay" but ever since I read that essay, I've always had this feeling that her real hatred is a self-loathing that she is unable to accept who she is and would rather attack a community that is based in accepting yourself despite what others may think. It's projection at its core. Which is why she's happy to openly attack women, both trans and cis, because she herself values masculinity and men more than women. She isn't protecting anyone but her own fragile ego and inability to be honest with herself.

by Anonymousreply 44September 30, 2025 12:54 AM

It’s Reddit: it has millions of posts for and against any subject. You could even find posts from women (the terribly old-fashioned type who don’t even have a penis) who are grateful to Rowling for speaking out, because they (like her) know what it’s like to be fearful of male violence and because they resent being made to feel like oppressors because they won’t lie about what a woman is, or about their feelings regarding kids being given elective mastectomies.

by Anonymousreply 47September 30, 2025 2:03 AM

r45/r7

I'm asking this with 100% sincerity. Why did you Ww yourself so much? Is it because you want everyone to agree with you? Or did you want people to see your post and think "that guy is the right opinion?" Or is this some self-esteem issue? In any case, I do hope things improve, sweetie.

by Anonymousreply 48September 30, 2025 2:03 AM

R48 I’m asking this with 100% sincerity. Do you dilate? Are you an autogynophile?

by Anonymousreply 49September 30, 2025 2:08 AM

R48, you can lie as much as you like. In any case, I will now avail myself of D/L’s “begone, moron” button, and I expect to see your sad post, and half of this thread, blissfully disappear from my life.

by Anonymousreply 50September 30, 2025 2:08 AM

R48 can't believe that he's in the minority and that people support JK Rowling's reasonable stance on this issue.

Give it up R48 - you're just a simpleton who goes along with whatever the flavor of the month is and whatever is cool to support - without any thoughts of your own.

by Anonymousreply 51September 30, 2025 2:39 AM

r45 / r49 / r50/ r51

Oh sweetie, you ok? Bless your heart. I actually agree with you - I support JK. My point was... you've WWed yourself repeatedly. Please see the original question at r48. Bless your heart. Really - I hope things improve. Please do keep WWing yourself. You need it.

[quote] She recently trashed people who took issue with Charlie Kirk. But has had nothing to say about Trump or Republicans saying equally vile shit about Democrats.

She has mocked Trump for years, but she denounced Kirk’s murder because she is a public figure would be a target for murder by a trans-activist. She who could gets rape and death threats constantly. Constantly. People show up to her home and take publish selfies of themselves waving the trans flag. As for complaining that she’s not supporting Democrats, she’s not American.
