My husband and I call this type of American woman a “screaming me-me”. Unfortunately we see a lot of them when travelling all suffering from an extreme case of main character syndrome.

When I was in my late teens to early twenties during my college years I would work in restaurants as both a waiter and a counterman for additional income, and I would get this type of rude harassing attitude from patrons from time to time. Mostly from women but also sometimes from men. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. I would try to walk the line between being professional and keeping them at bay without causing a negative vibe that they would stiff you on the tip.
