New Yorkers, how do you feel about this?
Queens will be the home of the biggest casino resort in America

They'll feel just fine, once the money starts pouring in.

Yeah, this is going to end well.
Poor J-Zee got locked out and now Bey has to tour again.

Anybody who still thinks casino gambling revives declining or dying communities/neigborhoods, really is delusional, especially with the advent of on-line gambling apps.

Is Queens disneyfied like the rest of NY?

R2 Jay-z was proposing a 250 million dollar hotel-casino on half a block in Times Square; one in which he would have majority ownership. Jay-Z is worth 2.6 billion dollars.
Nas is worth only 50 million dollars and will have some minority stake. This resort is going to cost 5 billion dollars. Do I need to spell it out for you. He is more of a”face” of a project that got successfully approved.

Isn't Resorts World about to go under? Their ginormous Las Vegas property is mostly empty. Will the taxpayers have to bail this out when it fails?

Of course, R7. That's the American way.
When people make mistakes/bad choices, they must own up to their decisions and face the consequences.
When corporations and their very expensive corporate VIPS make bad decisions, they must be bailed out each and every time.

R8 because some are too big to fail.

R5, I think you're correct, except for one glaring exception. The casinos in CT on the Rhode Island border really have been a boon to an area without much industry. I'm not much of a gambler, but I will go every once in a while to see a show, if the act isn't coming to NY. It's a mild pain in the ass getting there, but the casinos always seem to be packed.

Wait until Brenda Dickson starts her residency.

[quote]While a significant year-over-year decline was expected after the 2024 Super Bowl, Resorts World appears to be in massive trouble if it can’t turn things around.

R4 There is no neighborhood in queens that is dying.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 28, 2025 9:39 PM |
The current location in queens is already quite dreadful.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 28, 2025 10:50 PM |
I didn't think Queens could get any trashier.
