I love PETA. I don't love all the crazy crap they do but as they admit, they have to do that stuff or the media will ignore them. 98% of what they do is granular, helping rescue animals in distress all over the world. And unlike most American charities, where the CEO and top people make insane amounts of money, PETA execs earn basic salaries. All the money goes to their work.

The excuse they give for putting so many animals to sleep is that they take the extremely sick animals no-kill shelters refuse. But the truth is, they also kill healthy animals who could potentially find homes. I honestly believe they kill dogs and cats in such high numbers because they know that if they're adopted, their owners will feed them meat.

They fundamentally oppose the continuation of pet ownership, endorsing a “no-birth nation” policy. If a person can spend their money on having a pet or spend it on sterilizing dogs to make sure no more puppies are ever born, they’d prefer you spend the money on sterilization.
