Trump moves to declassify Amelia Earhart records

President Trump told his administration on Friday to declassify any federal records about Amelia Earhart, the pilot whose 1937 disappearance over the Pacific Ocean has drawn decades of public fascination.

Trump wrote:

"I have been asked by many people about the life and times of Amelia Earhart, such an interesting story, and would I consider declassifying and releasing everything about her, in particular, her last, fatal flight! She was an Aviation Pioneer, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and achieved many other Aviation “firsts.” She disappeared in the South Pacific while trying to become the first woman to fly around the World. Amelia made it almost three quarters around the World before she suddenly, and without notice, vanished, never to be seen again. Her disappearance, almost 90 years ago, has captivated millions. I am ordering my Administration to declassify and release all Government Records related to Amelia Earhart, her final trip, and everything else about her. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

No thanks, I'll wait for the Epstein files. Unredacted.

by Anonymousreply 2September 27, 2025 1:06 AM

Why were they still classified? Evidence of sapphic tendencies?

by Anonymousreply 3September 27, 2025 1:10 AM

What's this all about? Is he going to use this as an example of why he thinks DEI is bad?

by Anonymousreply 4September 27, 2025 1:15 AM

He can’t distract MAGA from the red meat of the Epstein files with some dusty old info about a missing lesbian pilot from a century ago. Nice try Drumpf.

by Anonymousreply 5September 27, 2025 1:31 AM

If he wants to distract, he should release the Roswell information on UFOs.

by Anonymousreply 6September 27, 2025 1:42 AM

Why in the world would anything about Amelia Earhart be classified?

by Anonymousreply 7September 27, 2025 2:28 AM

Was she trafficked by Ghislaine Maxwell?

by Anonymousreply 8September 27, 2025 2:35 AM

Now do the Epstein files Trump, you promised to release all of the FBI's investigative files when you ran for President.

And no the grand jury testimony is not the investigative files, in fact the judge who refused to release the Grand Jury testimony said the DOJ is free to release what they have, so don't come to him asking to release the Grand Jury testimony when you have it all and can release it yourself.

by Anonymousreply 9September 27, 2025 2:42 AM

Amelia was a handsome woman. Who here is going to take one for the team and read her files?

by Anonymousreply 10September 27, 2025 2:45 AM

I'm also wondering why anything pertaining to Amelia Earhart would be classified after so many years.

by Anonymousreply 11September 27, 2025 2:53 AM

It’s unfortunate that the first word in the thread title is “Trump”, since some people will only focus on that instead of discussing the more interesting topic of Amelia Earhart.

by Anonymousreply 12September 27, 2025 2:56 AM

Now we'll finally find out who was behind her DEI hire!

by Anonymousreply 13September 27, 2025 2:58 AM

Trump really has his finger on the pulse! Epstein who? Amelia Earhart is the hottest topic of 2025.

by Anonymousreply 14September 27, 2025 3:00 AM

She was more incompetent than the woman who drove the Black Hawk into the passenger plane at Reagan National.

by Anonymousreply 15September 27, 2025 3:01 AM

Look at that nice doggie over there! Isn’t he cute! Let’s go pet him!

by Anonymousreply 16September 27, 2025 3:05 AM

Amelia looks a little bit like the Senatrice.

Also, where are the Epstein files?

by Anonymousreply 17September 27, 2025 3:20 AM

I drove to the Amelia Earhart home in Atchison, Kansas but it was closed. It looked quaint from the outside.

by Anonymousreply 18September 27, 2025 3:21 AM

Another fun fact, another home she once lived in is now the site of a Little Caesar’s in Des Moines, Iowa.

by Anonymousreply 19September 27, 2025 3:23 AM

Fascinating, r19. I'm so glad you shared that.

by Anonymousreply 20September 27, 2025 8:00 AM

I wonder what he watched on t.v. the night before?

This is either a really sad misdirection or another sign of brain rot.

by Anonymousreply 21September 27, 2025 9:56 AM

It's obvious that this was an Andes rugby team plane crash situation where Earhart died in the crash and her navigator survived by eating her corpse.

by Anonymousreply 22September 27, 2025 10:54 AM

r10 Me, after I take of a few things first.

by Anonymousreply 23September 27, 2025 11:40 AM

If it was classified, maybe it involved the rumor that she was asked/ agreed to spy for the US while flying over the Pacific.

by Anonymousreply 24September 27, 2025 11:43 AM

Pan American Airways, with assistance from the US Navy, was mapping the Pacific for commercial air service in the 1930’s while the Japanese Navy was simultaneously surveying Pacific islands and atolls for military use. The potential stops had been mapped, but both sides of the eventual conflict were attempting to determine which could be developed as ports and airfields, ostensibly for commercial purposes but soon enough for military use.

The USN had pre-positioned ships along her expected route to offer radio direction finding and communications. These vessels were used to search for Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, when radio transmissions ceased. When her plane was lost, the United States did not want Japan to know how deeply they were involved in the effort to chart the Pacific Ocean nor how useful that information would be within a few years.

by Anonymousreply 25September 27, 2025 12:19 PM

Aaron Rupar:

If I was Donald Trump I would not be drawing the public’s attention right now to my ability to release files.

by Anonymousreply 26September 27, 2025 12:27 PM

If they have information about her that was in the classifieds, I wonder if it was something in the personals. I

by Anonymousreply 27September 27, 2025 1:11 PM

Question ~ why would trump promise to release the files if he knew his name was in them?

by Anonymousreply 28September 27, 2025 1:16 PM

R28, she disappeared nine years before he was born, so I doubt his name is in them.

by Anonymousreply 29September 27, 2025 1:23 PM

Do the Lindbergh baby next!

by Anonymousreply 30September 27, 2025 1:39 PM

by Anonymousreply 31September 27, 2025 1:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 32September 27, 2025 2:05 PM

by Anonymousreply 33September 27, 2025 2:20 PM

I'm not sad she's dead. She was a dyke with small tits.

by Anonymousreply 34September 27, 2025 2:21 PM

Breaking - declassified Earhart records reveal Trump was a frequent passenger aboard Amelia's flights to Epstein's pedo island!

by Anonymousreply 35September 27, 2025 2:36 PM

R25, once upon a time, many decades ago, Earhart's disappearance was treated as a great mystery. Some people claimed that the Japanese had something to do with her disappearance and may have held her prisoner.

by Anonymousreply 36September 27, 2025 2:48 PM

Why would Trump try to use Amelia Earhart as a distraction from the Epstein files.

MAGAts don't know who the hell she is (as with most historical figures cause "book learnin' is for fags"), nor do they care.

by Anonymousreply 37September 27, 2025 3:09 PM

Oh, did she molest little kids?

by Anonymousreply 38September 27, 2025 3:14 PM

I bet some 5th grade teacher made him read a book about her and he busted a nut to the pictures and he's been obsessed ever since. So he read that book and Hitler's speeches and maaaaaybe Art of the Deal

by Anonymousreply 39September 27, 2025 3:41 PM

[Quote] Another fun fact, another home she once lived in is now the site of a Little Caesar’s in Des Moines, Iowa.

I’ve ordered pizza from there, but it never arrives.

by Anonymousreply 40September 27, 2025 4:13 PM

[Quote] MAGAts don't know who the hell she is (as with most historical figures cause "book learnin' is for fags"), nor do they care.

As soon as he mentions someone or something on social media, the MAGA rubes scurry to find out all about it and become half-assed “experts” on the subject.

And so it distracts them from the fact that Trump raped sex slaves.

by Anonymousreply 41September 27, 2025 4:16 PM

There was a fascinating profile of her a few months ago in the New Yorker. Apparently she was a barely qualified pilot pushed into the limelight by her opportunistic husband. Everyone knew she was not up for the flight, but the couple were hungry for fame and cash.

by Anonymousreply 42September 27, 2025 4:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 44September 27, 2025 6:08 PM

I could see him trying to blame James Comey or Hunter Biden for killing the Lindbergh baby

"He got in a time machine and killed that kid! No one can prove otherwise!"

by Anonymousreply 45September 27, 2025 6:18 PM

Well, I guess we're not going to have an interesting thread about Amelia Earhart.

by Anonymousreply 46September 27, 2025 6:21 PM

R24 According to Captain Janeway on Star Trek Voyager, it is historical knowledge that she was on a spy mission. Oh, and she disappeared because she was transported to the Delta quadrant.

Mystery solved.

by Anonymousreply 47September 27, 2025 6:23 PM

He must have an entire secret cabinet that comes up with daily weird shit for him to do and release and declassify and sign into order. Everyday it’s something so you can’t remember the last. The White House should just post stories in Instagram like the NYPost.

by Anonymousreply 48September 27, 2025 6:31 PM

This is another conspiracy theory. Of course it will distract the QAnon and MAGA loons away from the evidence of Trump being a kiddie raper.

by Anonymousreply 49September 27, 2025 6:47 PM

[quote] Well, I guess we're not going to have an interesting thread about Amelia Earhart.

You just have to ignore the nuts who are having a conversation among themselves about something other than Earhart.

by Anonymousreply 50September 27, 2025 6:53 PM

[quote] Some people claimed that the Japanese had something to do with her disappearance and may have held her prisoner.

If she was spying, it would be nice to have the issue settled, and not just be a matter of speculation.

by Anonymousreply 51September 27, 2025 6:55 PM

Will Hillary Swank play her in the sequel? Amelia:28 Days Later. Produced after the secret info comes out.

Or perhaps Jamie Lee Curtis or Viola Davis.

by Anonymousreply 52September 27, 2025 6:56 PM

Why is everyone assuming she was gay? She was married to George P. Putnam.

[quote] Why is everyone assuming she was gay?

From Wikipedia:

[quote]Putnam, who was known as GP, was divorced in 1929 and sought out Earhart, proposing to her six times before she agreed to marry him. Earhart referred to her marriage as a "partnership" with "dual control"; in a letter to Putnam and hand-delivered to him on the day of the wedding, she wrote:

[quote]I want you to understand I shall not hold you to any midaevil [sic] code of faithfulness to me nor shall I consider myself bound to you similarly ... I may have to keep some place where I can go to be by myself, now and then, for I cannot guarantee to endure at all times the confinement of even an attractive cage.

Could that “some place where I can go to be by myself” actually have been a den of lesbians? Perhaps the files will shed light.

by Anonymousreply 56September 27, 2025 7:08 PM

R55 She was an aviator. Did you expect she would have worn Sunday floral dresses and have hair down to her waist?

by Anonymousreply 57September 27, 2025 7:09 PM

She was bisexual wasn’t she? I always assumed the affair with Gene Vidal was true.

Gore Vidal had an interesting take her final flight. I don’t take him too seriously though. He was exhausting when it came to putting himself near the center of all major events in the US after 1935.

by Anonymousreply 74September 28, 2025 5:56 PM
