I've watched my brother, his wife and his son deface their bodies with these gigantic nonsense tattoos. My only thought was "wow that's gonna be hard to remove later." Are tattoos going out of style? I hope so.
Never had one, never will. Pity those who followed the crowd.

My mom used to say things like tattoos and piercings were young people's way of keeping old people off them. Works for me.

They certainly won't go out of style in our lifetime.

Sure, just as soon as the "XXX is the most attractive/gorgeous/beautiful XXX in the world" threads stop as well.

I've always thought tattoos were trashy. However, I got nipple piercings maybe 25 years ago and finally took them off. I had an MRI and had to remove them so decided to keep them out. With that, I now have 2 nipples that look like pencil eraser ends. I'm actually buying nipple covers, via Amazon, so I can conceal.

You die, we buy.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 27, 2025 12:22 AM |
The fad has definitely passed its peak. You're starting to see people lining up for laser removal.
What on earth are nipple covers, R7???
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 27, 2025 12:24 AM |
My mother, evil, told me that one tattooed possessions - cattle and slaves.
One also displayed jewelry on his spouse. I don’t know who the fuck One was, but this family comes from a long line of working poors. Too much time with BBC programming on PBS.

[QUOTE] Hawt!!!
It’s not like they’d be lining up modeling gigs without the ink, R13. Maybe that person has a fond memory attached to getting their tattoo when they were young, something that makes them feel good whenever they see it in the mirror and travel back down memory lane. You ever think of that? Cause if that’s the case, I highly doubt the person in your pic gives a single fuck what you or anyone else thinks about their tattoo.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 27, 2025 12:57 AM |
Whenever I see attractive men and woman with their limbs and necks cover in ink, I wonder how much $$ was spent getting the 'body art'. They should be putting money aside for retirement and an emergency fund
In 1985 I got a small tattoo when I was 27 and feeling rebellious about the oppressive corporate job i had. It was on the shoulder (so it wasn't visible) and cost about $160 back then. Over the years, it started to get blurry and faded. People asked if it was a birthmark or a bruise. In 2018, made the decision to get it lasered off. The cost was about $1000 for the many visits which went over a year. So.... removing a small, 2-inch tattoo cost more, took longer and was much more painful than getting it in the first place.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 27, 2025 1:41 AM |
Wow R17 I never got one because I couldn't commit. I figured it would be more painful to remove than get.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 27, 2025 1:51 AM |
Meh - they are here to stay.
I have one - and thankfully stopped at one. It's quality and in a good area - upper shoulder, so it can be hidden.
It's all the visible trash and dry erase board type of tattoos that are just so unsightly.
They have the ability - if done well - to make some people more attractive and also the same ability to make them much less attractive. Art is like that - you have to get good art.

Interestingly the tattoo pigment and metals mixed in dyes and injected under the skin may make you sensitive or develop allergies to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and haircolor later.
The ink is often homebrew recipes, and not regulated by the FDA.

R28, that’s why Gen Z isn’t into tattoos. They’re not about putting chemicals in their bodies. It’s all about pureness.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 27, 2025 8:32 AM |
R30 That's not true at all, gen z have tons of tattoos, gen z girls on dating apps probably more than 60 percent of them ask for guys to please have tats and tats are soooo sexxyyy omg. 38 percent of gen z already has a tattoo. the business is in decline because people can't afford them, and many of those people will get a self made stick and poke or buy a kit on temu or something instead. i assume you read something about parlors in decline and then came up with this weird purity thing yourself.

Tattoos are partly behind the rise in cancer among the young.
[quote]When tattoo ink penetrates the skin, some of it is absorbed into the lymph nodes. The researchers are particularly concerned that tattoo ink may trigger chronic inflammation in the lymph nodes, which over time could lead to abnormal cell growth and an increased risk of cancer.
[quote]"We can see that ink particles accumulate in the lymph nodes, and we suspect that the body perceives them as foreign substances, explains Henrik Frederiksen, consultant in haematology at Odense University Hospital and clinical professor at SDU. This may mean that the immune system is constantly trying to respond to the ink"

r34 -- Now if they'd just find out cell phones held next to the face for hours each day REALLY DO cause head, neck, and brain cancer to some degree.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 27, 2025 10:54 AM |
They seem here to stay, but the non-conformist allure they once had is long gone. I imagine the shift will be generational with a new group coming of age eventually rejecting them as something old people do. Styles do change though especially with gay men. I can often tell how old someone is by their ink. I’m so glad I never got that tribal, Celtic or barbed wire arm band I was considering decades ago! Lol. I do like some tattoos that are artistic and well composed and executed, but that’s about no more than10% (in my opinion) of what I see.

Ink is a rite of passage. Young people feel like it’s just a matter of time before they start getting tats. Parental approval might delay the timeframe til they get older. Influencers play a big part. Boys see girls lusting after someone like Vinnie Hacker and grow up imitating everything they do, gym and tats especially if you weren’t lucky enough to be born with that face.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 27, 2025 12:54 PM |

[quote] I highly doubt the person in your pic gives a single fuck what you or anyone else thinks about their tattoo.
Bullshit. They care what others think, since part of the reason (usually a big part) is to draw attention to themselves from everyone. They want you to care enough to notice them - they even post pictures of themselves on line (as in the OP).

R34 the bigger risk is of undiagnosed melanoma due to skin cancers being covered in ink.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 27, 2025 1:54 PM |
Skin is the largest organ of the human body, and to me, when it is properly maintained, is a thing of beauty.
Why people want to cover up that beauty with nasty ass ink is beyond me.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 27, 2025 2:38 PM |
I think it’s a quality/quantity thing. I have 2. Tributes to my late brother & parents. Love them. Might get one more & then done. Calf and wrist. Figured they’d age better. Easily covered when I want. No regrets.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 27, 2025 2:46 PM |
R48, I was going to say something similar about the skin being the largest human organ. I never thought that tattoos could be healthy and wondered how the body responded to having all the chemicals injected into the skin. I'm not surprised to see R34's thread. Some tattoos are attractive and well done. The vast majority are not, especially the random, cartoonish type.
I have a similar reaction when I see tattoos as when I see someone smoking. The former, I'm glad I never got one; the latter, I'm glad I quit.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 27, 2025 2:50 PM |
So many in my generation (millennial) have tats. I despise most of them. Exception is a small one here or there on the arms or something like that. The huge tats that cover a good portion of the body make you look like a clown. And when you change your mind and want a different one (or no tat at all) in 20 years since your tastes and views have changed, have fun getting those huge things removed!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 27, 2025 2:51 PM |
What's the guy's name in the OP pic. I know he's a very successful fame whore influencer for his tats, body, and now his long dick. But he never appealed to me so I've never learned his name. Is he still a big deal?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 27, 2025 2:56 PM |
I think they do it because clothes and hairstyles are so drab and hideous these days and they all have horrible body dysmorphia. At least tats are something they can show off that make them feel special.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 27, 2025 3:06 PM |
It's a weird kind of camouflage that says look at me at this point. It reminds me of the insects and crustaceans that cover themselves with bits of detritus to hide from predators

This past summer, I hired a bodybuilder covered in tats from his neck down, who was traveling through my area as a 'erotic masseur'. First time I was ever with a guy like that because I usually go with minimal tats when I hire masseurs. But I was curious how any sensual experience could be with a guy covered in tats, he was reasonably priced, had a very handsome face, and very positive reviews.
I have to say, it became 'distracting'. The massage aspect was pretty awful (he was no masseur despite what his ad credentials were), so it turned into a muscle worship / sucking experience. As much as I wanted to appreciate his muscled body (hidden beneath the tats), it was hard to focus on feeling him up when I was distracted by all the graffiti. Same with his cock - what should have been a real enjoyable experience (he had a nice big one), I couldn't get into it with all the ink covering it.

I think of them as souvenirs/trophies that can’t be repossessed or denied - physical evidence almost like autograph collectors.
I’ve had stretch marks since I was thirteen and I have never had a desire to add any more blemishes to this body. These are not lightning marks, they are 3D.

Why can’t Trump one day wake up in one of his verbal seizures and start blurting out “Tattoos are the worst thing in the world. They’re even worse than James Comey, and let me tell you how awful he is. He probably has dozens of tattoos. We’re going to ban them. We are already setting up the military to go after these parlors that attract all sorts of nasty types. Make America Inkless Again!”
