I've just started. It seems to do the trick.
How much do you drink? I do about 2-3 oz in the morning and also in the evening.

That's what my mother made us kids do.
It works.
Or just eat a couple of prunes instead.

I did for a while but Prune Juice is high in sugar. A standard dietary label for prune juice lists about 180-190 calories, 42-45g of carbohydrates per 8-ounce serving. I switched to Dietary FIber, think Benefiber but I buy the store brand which is cheaper, a serving size of 1 tbsp (4g) containing 2g of Total Carbohydrate and 2g of Dietary Fiber, with 0g of Total Sugars and 20mg of Sodium, has the same effect without all the sugar.

I drink a glass of Metamucil/psyllium every morning.

Not a prune juice guy, but I well remember the green glass bottle of it that was always in the fridge when I was a lad(many moons ago) I do eat prunes, I chop up 2 and add them to my thrice-weekly bowl of oatmeal. Keeps me "astonishingly regular"(can't remember where I first heard that phrase)
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 26, 2025 7:55 PM |
I think I need some. I did cut down on my eating, but poo every 4 days doesn’t seem right. I cut my dogs food down too and it’s a lot less.

There's a better, more modern work-around.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 27, 2025 12:28 AM |
Prunes and prune juice are naturally high in the sugar alcohol sorbitol which produces a laxative effect. Lots of fruits are high in sorbitol and can produce the same result. i.e. Stone fruits: Apricots, cherries, peaches, plums, prunes. Also, apples, pears and blackberries. Some sugar free candies have sorbitol.

I've had been taking Metamucil for 20 years. I have always had a very tricky digestive system. But after a 9 day hospital stay at the beginning of May and a massive amount of antibiotics (once in the hospital and 2 times after I came home) for a really bad respiratory virus that attacked my heart I find that I no longer have to take anything. I can only think those antibiotics did something to cure whatever was wrong with my digestive system. Not to be vulgar, but my morning poops are incredible now.

Resetting the bacterial balance, R16. I took Metamucil for years. Got terrible stomach cramps. Then one day I just stopped taking it. No more stomach cramps. I'm pretty regular.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 30, 2025 1:31 AM |
I read on Datalounge years ago that if you want to stay regular, eat three prunes a day. More if traveling.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 30, 2025 1:34 AM |
I eat 2 dried prunes a day. I can bottom with a 20-minute notice. I'm 33 yrs old.

I swear by prunes. Definitely keeps things flowing.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 30, 2025 2:14 AM |
Prune juice is delicious, I wish I could drink it every day. Luckily I don’t need to but it is my first line of defense dealing with an occasional log jam. I keep the little cans in my pantry.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 30, 2025 2:23 AM |
It's better to eat the fruit; you get more nutritional benefits, plus the fiber.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 30, 2025 2:34 AM |
Bartender, bring me a pile driver. Prune juice and vodka.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 30, 2025 2:34 AM |
A l big mug of hot lemon water in the morning, a lot of water during the day, and 2 capsules of flaxseed oil pm, and I go 2-3x day, pretty much all my meals out.

I try and introduce prune juice into every meal, even if it's just a small amount, I go through 3 liters per week. I had a dinner party last week and did prune juice spritzers, which were a hit.

I have it in my "arsenal" of things to keep me regular, along with raspberries and celery juice.

I find blackberries to be superior to prunes, in laxative power, especially if you cook them(which is what I prefer) To a half-pint of berries add one-quarter cup of water, a TBSP of sugar and some freshly-grated nutmeg, bring to a boil and stir gently for 2 minutes. Chill and enjoy. For me this is 5 or 6 servings.

That's interesting because it took me months to get my digestive system "in order", and I'll skip the details. But, I had a minor procedure done and I had to take a single antibiotic pill before the procedure. Completely fucked up my system.
Can't remember the name of the antibiotic, but as R17 mentioned, for me, it sure reset my bacterial balance.
Antibiotics are apparently a very YMMV thing. I should really memorize the antibiotic, so that it never happens again. I think it was a red pill. Thanks for reminding me.

The best sugar-free candy to alleviate constipation is the sugar-free Russell Stover chocolates that are available at Dollar Tree. For some reason the peanut butter cups work best. Reese's also has sugar free peanut butter cups with "malitol" as the first ingredient and those work too.

I took 5 sips of prune juice the last time I was constipated and it worked. I pooped twice after 30 minutes of drinking the juice.

R32 - just because you're a cumdump whore with a prolapsed anus does mean I am. And no, not everyone that bottoms is a cumdump whore like you, only those who don't believe many of us are tops, even in our older years.
I've bottomed no more than eight times in my life.

Even ABC doesn't want to revisit:
On January 8, 2020, ABC confirmed that a television pilot, which would serve as a sequel to the series, had been ordered. The pilot was never filmed, but was set to be directed by Zwick, written by Zwick and Herskovitz, and have four members of the original cast (Ken Olin, Mel Harris, Timothy Busfield and Patricia Wettig) reprising their roles.[6] In June 2020, ABC passed on the series.
