I'll second your list OP, with the exception of George Carlin. The others don't deserve the career they have.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 26, 2025 4:58 PM |
I'm too American to get Billy Connolly as a standup (and the accent barrier is a problem) but he was very good in "Mrs. Brown" and a BBC TV version of "Androcles and the Lion" I saw him in. The other conedians you mention I'm not a fan of at all.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 26, 2025 5:04 PM |
Who asked you, OP? Negative Nancy
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 26, 2025 5:06 PM |
It would be easier to list comedians OP finds funny.
Jerry Lewis
Carrot Top
Gallagher
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 26, 2025 5:27 PM |
R4 I don't know who Gallagher is but I agree with the other two. Not funny at all.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 26, 2025 5:52 PM |
Minnie Pearl to the top of OPs list! š¤”
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 26, 2025 5:54 PM |
You guys are high.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 26, 2025 5:56 PM |
I'd call the OP ridiculous but I agree with all but one of the people in her list.
However, in R4 we all can see that she is a little rattled by preparing her tome and can't be bothered to read her responses.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 26, 2025 6:02 PM |
Sandra Bernhard's comedy is niche, and very much geared towards intelligent, wealthy people. I find her hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 26, 2025 6:08 PM |
Some of Sandra's older material is funny. I like Jerry Seinfeld, but I think Larry David made him funny. I love Gervais and Carlin {RIP}. Shumer, DeGenerate and ODonnell are terrible and I've always hated all three.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 26, 2025 6:15 PM |
R1 But you do.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 26, 2025 6:23 PM |
I find several comedians on OP's list amusing, but mostly not LOL funny. I think there's a distinction.
Billy Connolly had a (HBO?) special probably 20 years ago that had me rolling on the floor laughing.
Carlin was a genius.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 26, 2025 6:24 PM |
Comedians OP finds funny
Paula Poundstone
Elayne Boosler
Rip Taylor
Wayland Flowers and Madame
George Burns
Paul Lynde
Phyllis Diller
Martha Raye
Mae West
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 26, 2025 6:31 PM |
Dane Cook and Matt Rife: Bragging about how "sexy", "straight" and a "pussyhound" you are during your stand-up routines IT'S NOT COMEDY.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 26, 2025 6:33 PM |
R9, me too.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 26, 2025 6:38 PM |
[r-4] Perhaps OP enjoys the comic stylings of Bob Hope, Red Skelton and Jeff Dunham. And like Bill Cosby, they never work blue.
And, [r10]- *DeGenenerateā*? What the hell is wrong with you?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 26, 2025 6:44 PM |
Don Rickles...obnoxious, never funny
Joan Rivers...very funny.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 26, 2025 7:10 PM |
Matt Rife...get the hell off the stage. Horrible.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 26, 2025 7:11 PM |
Chelsea Handler...not funny as a comedienne, but she does have a good podcast.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 26, 2025 7:12 PM |
Kill Tony...little fucking piece of shit unfunny runt.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 26, 2025 7:13 PM |
Ricky is very funny.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 26, 2025 7:24 PM |
Jerry Seinfeld was never funny as a standup.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 26, 2025 7:24 PM |
I agree too, except with George Carlin. Sandra Bernhard has her moments.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 26, 2025 7:29 PM |
Rosie could be very funny back in the day.
May I add Hannah Einbinder to the list. Sheās good on Hacks but I tried to watch her standup special and it was bad.
Leanne Morgan can be very good but a little cornpone goes a long way. Also, I lived in her part of TN for years and no one talks like that.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 26, 2025 7:32 PM |
Op are you talking exclusively stand up, or each entertainers body of work in general. Martin Lawrence and George Carlin are hilarious in standup. Iāve never seen Carlin in movies or anything. Donāt find Ellenās standup funny but she can be funny hosting duties or on shows.
I completely concur with you about Steve Harvey.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 26, 2025 7:33 PM |
Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom ever and I find his standup bits on there funny. I think I might actually check out his full length standup. I love Jerry.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 26, 2025 7:34 PM |
My parents loved Seinfeld and watched him daily on one of those syndication stations. I took them to see his stand up when he was performing nearby and it was horrible, not even a little funny. They were crushed. Without Larry David I don't believe he'd have had much of a career at all.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 26, 2025 7:41 PM |
Sandra Bernhard is probably my favorite comedian.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 26, 2025 8:07 PM |
R26 is in for a rude awakening. Seinfeld was Larry David.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 26, 2025 8:10 PM |
The only stand-up comedian I've ever enjoyed is John Mulaney, less so since everything went wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 26, 2025 8:32 PM |
Phyllis Diller
Don Rickles
Jonathan Winters
Joan Rivers
George Carlin
Stephen Wright
Gary Shandling
Rodney Dangerfield
Natasha Leggero
Jeff Ross
Ricky Gervais
John Mulaney
Bill Burr
Just a few I like off the top of my head.

Unless more people discuss why they like and dont like the comedians on their lists, this thread is boring and pointless.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 26, 2025 8:41 PM |
Michael Ian Black and his pathetic queer-poseur antics.
He annoyed the shit out of me during in his appearances on VH1's "I Love the..." series.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 26, 2025 8:46 PM |
OP sounds fun at parties. š
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 26, 2025 8:47 PM |
Will Farrell
Chris Farley
Cheri Oteri
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 26, 2025 9:04 PM |
R25 Comedians in general.
Robin Williams. I loved his stand up and movies. I always thought he was hilarious and brilliant but some people found him annoying and unfunny.
Two more to add to my list of unfunny comedians: Tom Green and Norm MacDonald.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 26, 2025 9:13 PM |
R26 I thought everyone was funny on Seinfeld except for Jerry. I also find him smug.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 26, 2025 9:14 PM |
People like Bob Saget(rip) and those Full House cunts. Never found them funny. Hated the show. Standup sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 26, 2025 11:19 PM |
R37 Jerry could be funny on Seinfeld, just a lot of the episodes require him to be the straight man to George and Elaineās chaos. Albeit he is playing the straight man as a somewhat neurotic Jew New Yorker. I think there is a term for it actually.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 26, 2025 11:21 PM |
DL posters I have never found funny, or literate.
OP.
If you're alive, hun, it's present perfect. "I have never found"
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 27, 2025 12:01 AM |
@37 Jerry Seinfeld is supposedly worth more than a $billion. In his shoes, I'd be smug, too.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 27, 2025 12:03 AM |
R40 is an 82 year old nun with a bug up her ass.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 27, 2025 12:09 AM |
R42 is OP, thin-skinned and barely literate.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 27, 2025 12:11 AM |
Let's not forget Jim Carrey... or, maybe we should!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 27, 2025 12:14 AM |
R44 Jim Carey is fkin hilarious and I generally loathe physical comedy. Heās also a good actor. Heās like the white Eddie Murphy, he just never did standup like that. Heās brilliant in comedy films.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 27, 2025 2:08 AM |

R49 Why? Do you suffer from Parkinson's Disease?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 17, 2025 12:05 PM |
R48 - hey, oh⦠oh eh⦠you think Iām not funny? Are you some kind of homo or something?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 17, 2025 12:18 PM |
Rita Rudner
Janeane Garofalo
Paula Poundstone
Jonathan Winters
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 17, 2025 12:39 PM |
As a genre, I have never found standup particularly funny or compelling.
With that said, I adore Kathleen Madigan and have never laughed so hard as when I've seen her live.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 17, 2025 12:47 PM |
Hannah Gadsby
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 17, 2025 1:55 PM |
I agree with OPās list except for George Carlin. I wish we had Carlin around today. What he would do to Mango Mussolini would be beautiful.
Iād add Bob Hope and Milton Berle
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 17, 2025 3:13 PM |
^and Jerry Lewis
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 17, 2025 5:21 PM |
Stephen Wright said the neighborhood he grew up in was so dangerous the ice cream truck played Helter Skelter. I don't find Sarah Silverman funny most of the time, she goes for lazy jokes.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 17, 2025 5:29 PM |
George Burns
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 17, 2025 5:32 PM |
Ricky Gervais OP? This clip I rank as perhaps the funniest bit I have ever seen. I still watch it and cannot help but to laugh out loud every single time.
