another pit bull attack
Woman attacked by dogs loses all four limbs
by Anonymous | reply 64 | September 29, 2025 3:09 AM |
Cheryl says Janelle was riding her bike to a friend's trailer last week when two pitbulls from inside attacked her.
Okmulgee police say the dogs were secured in a trailer near East 12th St, but it was broken into, which may have been why the dogs got outside.
Police say the person who lived in the trailer wasn't home at the time of the attack. Cheryl says Janelle didn't know he wasn't at the trailer.
Okmulgee police say the owner of the dogs was in jail at the time of the attack, and the person taking care of them was ticketed.

Okmulgee is an armpit of a town, I have driven through it before.
Just south of Okmulgee is the tiny town of Henryetta, famous for producing the noted heterosexual quarterback Troy Aikman.
Poor kid, she’s like a war victim, she doesn’t deserve this.

Why didn’t the dogs attack the person who broke into the trailer? Bizarre story. On a related note, I really want to volunteer to help walk dogs at my local shelter. Sadly, most of the dogs there are pits or pit mixes. I’m terrified of them.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 27, 2025 3:08 AM |
Pitbulls and pit mixes are banned by law up in Ontario, and for good reason. They are a very small % of the dogs but they’re like 2/3 of the human fatalities or serious injuries from a dog attack.

These dogs are absolutely everywhere. They are the predominant dog being bred by illegal breeders (often abused then dumped) and also the majority breed in animal shelters now. There are simply too many, too violent and unpredictable. If we in this country cannot breed them every damn owner needs to buy an insurance policy on them ;an expensive one) and at least make people pause before owning one.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 27, 2025 11:48 AM |
Time to open a chain of kill shelters specifically for bully breeds. Shitbulls are ugly and dangerous.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 27, 2025 4:19 PM |
R25 That's the part that boggles my mind. They are extremely ugly dogs. I don't understand the attraction to them. Decades ago, it was Doberman Pinschers that got all the flack. I haven't seen one in years, but I don't remember them being hideously ugly on top of being dangerous. Pitbull people need professional help.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 27, 2025 4:35 PM |
R26, it's the savior complex. There are tons of men who own them but also short women who want to feel powerful. These people often have no idea how to control these dogs.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 27, 2025 4:42 PM |
Pit bulls don't kill people, bad owners kill people.
I have a cousin who is a dog trainer as a side gig. She LOVES pit bulls and things they are merely misunderstood love puppies. She also hates Cesar Milan with a passion.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 27, 2025 4:46 PM |
This is a pit mix this gorgeous man adopted, right? (According to the story, you never know if any of this is true.). I have to admit it's an appealing story, and dog. But there are thousands of these videos normalising pits.

Great point. If man-eating pitbulls don't deter thieves, why even have 'em?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 27, 2025 5:12 PM |
Years ago, my small dog was attacked by a pit bull while we were out for a leashed walk. Luckily, the pit bull pushed me down first (I was in the way) and I fell on top of my dog. The pit chomped as hard as it could on my dog’s hind quarter. He needed surgery to close the wound. If that pit had been able to get to the upper part of my dog’s body, that would’ve been it.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 27, 2025 5:14 PM |
People with anecdotal stories of good pitbulls refuse to see that they are the exception instead of the rule. As any reputable vet and they will tell you that pitbull's aggression is genetic and not just training. Sadly, they all need to be put down. Sorry.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 27, 2025 5:21 PM |
R32, The scariest stories are the ones about "good" pitbulls that just snap out of nowhere. I heard a story a year or so ago about a woman who left her adult pitbull in the room with her toddler and it ended up killing it randomly. Sad story but the mom really was an idiot to leave that big dog alone with that poor kid.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 27, 2025 5:36 PM |
r28 Pit bulls are a disgusting dog breed and should be eradicated. If you have a pit bull, you are automatically a bad owner because you lack common sense. Same thing with people who keep wild animals like chimpanzees and large wild cats. You can't change an animal's natural instincts. And it's always the same story: they are so sweet... until they snap.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 27, 2025 6:32 PM |

[quote]Pit bulls don't kill people, bad owners kill people.
Oh get the fuck out of here with that bullshit R28.
The aggressiveness is bred into their DNA! It doesn't matter how well or how poorly the owner treats the animal, they are ticking time bombs / walking lawsuits.
There are Australian Sheep Dogs and Border Collies that have never before laid eyes on a sheep, but will still instinctively "herd" toddlers because they were bred as working dogs to do just that! I'm pretty sure the owners had nothing to do with that behaviour.

Here's an article from People, detailing various recent violent dog attacks, including a pit bull attack which resulted in the death of a 6 month old girl. Moral of the story, if you care about your safety: cross the street whenever you see a pit bull. And don't visit family or friends who have a pit bull. All pit bull owners claim their vile, ugly beast is a sweet angel who wouldn't hurt a fly. But why would they hurt a fly? It's obvious they prefer human flesh.

Disagree. Some dogs shouldn't be domesticated. This is one of those breeds.
There should be a law banning them as family pets. Or families should be forced to pay insurance if they own one. With high premiums.

My neighborhood is chock full of pit bulls. I told you guys I was yanked down from behind by a loose pit bull and broke my left humerus, and I can no longer lift that arm above my shoulder (thanks, VA!!). I guess I should be grateful it wasn't worse, but I was badly bruised on my left cheek and my right hand and knee, so it was no picnic, either.
I went for a walk today past a whole bunch of pit bulls (3? 4? I walked fast and didn't look) behind a 4.5 foot fence. I know they can jump over that -- the one that came after me did it. I crossed the street, but I know that's not really much of a help.
Yesterday, when I took my walk, I saw a loose one in the back of someone's yard (perhaps it didn't see me -- it didn't approach), and my neighbor across the street has a whole slew of them and two were loose in his yard a few days ago. I kept my gate closed.
I did get some pepper spray about a week ago. I'm not confident that it will protect me, but a gun is too heavy to carry while wearing gym shorts and I'm not confident that will protect me either.
What am I gonna do -- lock myself inside and never come out...?

What are you talking about r56 ? Pits are still the best nanny dogs. I know because in medieval times when the parents went to work, they left the kids with the family pit ! The baby from r43 obviously provoked the dog. I hope he can be rehomed and find a better family ! Remember: it's not the dog, it's the owner.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 28, 2025 10:39 PM |
They're banned where I am but a lot of people have mixed breed dogs that are similar. There are also pitbulls and pitbull mixes in certain areas. Most people who own them end up in jail on drug convictions or end up giving them away. After breeding them for easy cash.

A shame I never had such a dog around to keep my children in line.

Adopt Zack! > Frequent Flyer; this is Zack's SECOND stint in shelter
> Originally rescued from an "abusive home", meaning, his behavior was (continues to be) a mess.
> extensively rehabbed, board-n-trained, spent 4 years in shelter/rescue/foster, finally adopted, owner died suddenly, so now you can make Zack your own!
"loves snacks" (very rare trait for a dog) > "loves walks" "loves people" (SO RARE.) > NO DOGS NO CATS NO KIDS UNDER 12. MUST BE ONLY PET. "He must be the only king of your castle!" -> Dog either resource guards or has a helluva bite history.

She may lose too much muscle tissue to be fitted for prosthetics. She may be stuck with the stumps.
If this happened to one of us, there’d be no legal means of assisted suicide.
It’s a fate worse than death to be trapped like this for the remaining decades of one’s life. She won’t be able to feed herself, toilet herself, scratch an itch, or ever leave that bed.
