107 DAYS Kamala Harris

The reviews are in. I'm going to read it.

"This account of her campaign is fascinating, although not always for the reasons she intends. It is an odd mixture of grievance, justification and self-aggrandisement, with a large dollop of accidental self-parody ... It is also thrillingly catty ... This memoir is a monument to Biden’s failures and Harris’s too, even if the latter are mostly omitted." SUNDAY TIMES (UK)

"I don’t know if Harris found writing 107 Days cathartic, but reading it certainly wasn’t. Instead, the book, which unfolds in strictly chronological order, is a frustrating slog. It seems likely to alienate her critics further and provides no closure or hope for her supporters ... Which isn’t to say there aren’t some real insights ... But while Harris doesn’t refrain from criticising Biden, she doesn’t go full-throttle either, remaining guarded on some of the key questions that still trouble people ... As for any Harris supporters hoping 107 Days might bring closure or optimism, they will also be sorely disappointed." GUARDIAN (UK)

"Taut, often eye-opening ... A thread running throughout is one of bitterness toward Biden’s inner circle, whom Harris felt had been poisoning the well since she first took office ... Does an excellent job of conveying the difficulty of seeking — and occupying — high office, and suggests that if she’d won, Harris’ resilience and ambition would have served her well as the leader of the free world. Many of her insights are astute, though occasionally tinged with rancor ... the brilliant, charismatic woman who came close to breaking the ultimate glass ceiling has given us an essential portrait of an unforgettable turning point in her journey, but 107 Days is mainly absent the perspective and blueprint for going forward that so many of us hunger for. A few years out, that wisdom may come." THE LOS ANGELES TIMES

I’m def buying it because I know it’s going to be an entertaining juicy read. Plus I love me some Kamala Harris. She was attorney so she has to be a decent writer.

[quote] She was attorney so she has to be a decent writer.

One review said she was surprisingly competent.

by Anonymousreply 2September 26, 2025 1:21 AM

You can be sure she employed a ghost writer. I doubt Kamala was burning the midnight oil slogging away at this.

by Anonymousreply 3September 26, 2025 1:35 AM

R3 Some write during the day, whether by choice or force.

Kammie Dearest

by Anonymousreply 5September 26, 2025 1:45 AM

Oh well, her loss (thanks to Elon's vote-erase program) will be Trump's downfall. He's going to wish he chose fines + house-arrest at Mag-a-Lardo. DC isn't Manhattan.

by Anonymousreply 6September 26, 2025 2:07 AM

I’n enjoying watching her throwing everyone under the bus but unable to articulate it in “friendly” interviews .

by Anonymousreply 7September 26, 2025 2:32 AM

R7 wadaya mean?

by Anonymousreply 8September 26, 2025 2:35 AM

R8 please watch the Maddow or The View appearances and you will understand.

by Anonymousreply 9September 26, 2025 5:52 PM

Libby just notified me that my copy is in at the library!

by Anonymousreply 10September 26, 2025 7:35 PM

R9 I saw the Maddow interview and still somewhat confused. Are you saying she talks in word salad even when it’s not a “gotcha” journalist. That is just something the rethugs constantly branded her as, so it has steeped into your subconscious. I mean she does ramble sometimes. But she was pretty clear to me.

by Anonymousreply 11September 26, 2025 11:23 PM

What can be, unburdened by what has been.

by Anonymousreply 12September 26, 2025 11:29 PM

The book is very good taking you through the hour by hour experience of what it was like for her. Even if you're not a big fan her resilience in the face of hesitant support from her own party and personal friends is pretty impressive.

You did not need to be a "rethug" to see that Kamala often spoke in confusing word salads.

And sometimes she seemed totally sloshed. This is hilarious:

R14 I thought she was fine until the very end when she went moony. "Someday we'll be able to literally see the craters on the moon with our OWN eyes! "

by Anonymousreply 15September 27, 2025 12:39 AM

R14. She does not seem sloshed and it's a bit corny , but it,'s not hilarious.

She would have to undergo several levels of brain damage before she would routinely speak as stupidly as Biden, the Bushes, Trump, John McCain, etc.

by Anonymousreply 16September 27, 2025 1:17 AM

She sounds positively loopy at R14. She talks to the kids like they're 5 years old.

She's trying so hard. She's doing that thing people do when they've had a little too much to drink.

The subject of the thread is Kamala Harris.

But as far as speaking stupidly goes, Kamala held her own. This is just....bizarre:

^ You have to especially go to 3:41 in that video.

You're telling me she doesn't sound drunk? If she's not, she's doing a great impersonation of a drunk ass woman sitting at a bar talking to whomever will listen.

by Anonymousreply 18September 27, 2025 2:07 AM

R17 The shit so fkin stupid. So someone made a reel of her love of venn diagrams. How bout we make a reel of Trump cussing out actresses the day after the Oscars, or critiquing their dresses, some dumb vile shit cloaked in white immunity. It’s fucking sickening. Yea the bitch seems corny when she is talking about Venn diagrams but it’s fun and light. A lot of these big dummies managing work centers could probably use it for their benefit. Basic ass cunts. I sometimes hate Americans, and I’m American.

Do it!

In the meantime Kamala really does sound like a drunken idiot at times.

by Anonymousreply 20September 27, 2025 2:25 AM

R20 I don’t give a fuck if she likes to take a martini or 2 to calm her nerves. She has never appeared aberrant. This motherfucking coke head, crack head, amphetamine addict—whatever the fuck it is, has some said some completely wayward, dysfunctional shit. 1000 time worst than Harris’ Venn diagrams. A New York accent doesn’t fool me. Fucking piece of trash is our current president. It’s a disgrace.

Give it up. The only person you're making look like an idiot is yourself.

by Anonymousreply 23September 27, 2025 3:09 AM

What of the stepdaughter says the author?

by Anonymousreply 24September 27, 2025 3:36 AM

From Australia, I still don't understand what happened. Not far out from the election, she was leading in the polls and seemed certain to win. Then she became the butt of jokes and a lot of idiots wanted Trump in again.

What went wrong?

He's a fucking felon,.

by Anonymousreply 25October 5, 2025 8:50 AM

Well, she was never certain to win. Polls consistently showed a close election.

by Anonymousreply 26October 5, 2025 10:18 AM

[quote]she was leading in the polls

Polls are always wrong because most conservatives refuse to participate.

by Anonymousreply 27October 5, 2025 11:54 AM

She was mad she couldn’t have gay BFF Pete as her sidekick.

by Anonymousreply 28October 5, 2025 11:56 AM

The big winner here may just be Gov. Walz.
