Ryan Walters Resigns as Oklahoma's State Superintendent of Education
Ryan Walters announced Thursday night that he is resigning as Oklahoma’s state superintendent after nearly three years of near-constant controversy.
On a Fox News program around 10:45 p.m., Walters announced that he is becoming the CEO of the Teacher Freedom Alliance.
Teacher Freedom Alliance's stated mission is to "assist educators in their mission to develop free, moral and upright American citizens," and the non-profit organization's website states that it currently has 2,617 teachers enrolled as members.
He did not say whether he is still considering a gubernatorial run in 2026.
“We’re going to destroy the teachers unions,” Walters said on the cable news program Thursday evening. “We have seen the teachers unions use money and power to corrupt our schools, to undermine our schools. We are one of the biggest grassroots orgs in the country. We will build an army of teachers to defeat the teachers unions once and for all.”

From the end of the article:
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, who has been anticipating Walters to be one of his challengers in the next GOP primary for the state's next governor, immediately issued a press statement reacting to Walters' announcement.
“Ever since Gov. Stitt appointed Ryan Walters to serve as Secretary of Education, we have witnessed a stream of never-ending scandal and political drama. From the mishandling of pandemic relief funds that resulted in families buying Xboxes and refrigerators to the latest squabbling with board members over what was or wasn’t showing on TV, the Stitt-Walters era has been an embarrassment to our state," Drummond's statement reads.
"Even worse, test scores and reading proficiency are at historic lows. It’s time for a State Superintendent of Public Instruction who will actually focus on quality instruction in our public schools. Gov. Stitt used to say he would make us Top Ten, but after seven years we are ranked 50th in education. Our families, our students and our teachers deserve so much more.”

Oklahoma is ranked at #48 for education in the US. Fundie MAGA christian Walters wants to get it down to #50.

Wow, this is really unexpected. This little fundie wing nut was using that position as his MAGA podium to spread Jesus and Trump far and wide and now he formed some wing nut organization with 2600 people? There must be some kind of scandal boiling under the surface. Maybe the porn during his zoom meetings is the tip of the iceberg..

Oklahoma is already ranked #50, R5.
Oklahoma AG Gentner, from article in OP:

To confirm: A study released by WalletHub this summer ranked Oklahoma 50th of 50 states and the District of Columbia for public schools. (See link below to article about study, which contains a link within it to actual study.)
Which state ranked 51? New Mexico.

This is your typical American citizen of the Trump era: full of fake religious piety, full of fake patriotism on the outside, rotten to the core on inside, completely amoral and immoral.
Which is why the Republican Party is growing in membership so rapidly, especially among the young.

He probably defended his obvious pron addiction by saying the Bible doesn’t say anything about porn, it also doesn’t say anything about abortion or gay people, but Christians won’t ever acknowledge that.

R6 kind of think the porn he broadcast during school meetings is the cause of it. It’s an open and shut sexual harassment case and this is probably part of the ongoing settlement.

I hate that I find him so damn hot. If he would have gotten past his mental issues, and just been a normal Republican, I guarantee he could have been the state’s senator in looks alone, then from there, who knows.
But he had to act like he was dropped on his head as a child.
Further, he also seems gay. Been around those types, usually from mega churches. Then again, could be wishful thinking. Either way, I’m sad to say I’d blow him in a NY second.

Gentner Drummond is, of course, part of the extraordinary wealthy Drummond family, who own a huge amount of land in Oklahoma, seized up during the days the Killers of the Flower Moon era. Pioneer Woman Rae married into the family.
Early photos of Walters on instagram showed him in a Taylor Swift t-shirt, happy go-lucky looking, surrounded by male friends. They’ve since been deleted, but you can find them if you look hard enough.
Somewhere along the way, he turned into a hateful religious nutcase, married with three children in five years.

R27 he is just another closet-bisexual that sought out public office, so he did a rush job marriage and kids setup to have the family-man requirement locked down.
Just like the donor that plucked Charlie Kirk out of obscurity, someone clearly whispered in his ear and told him to make a name for himself. I BET he was hoping to be made Ed Sec under Trump’s second term or tapped for higher position.
This new role will give him more access to DC, and access to Donald.
Or, a scandal is gonna break, hopefully included nudes!

R28, if he had billions of dollars, he’d definitely be in Trump’s inner circle. I’m sure he’s grifted and skimmed taxpayer dollars, but he’s not wealthy enough to be noticed. Which must chap his ass on a daily basis. He’s tried to institute Trump bibles, he tried to require mourning time for Charlie Kirk in schools, he tried to prosecute teachers who supposedly cheered Kirk’s demise. But never a peep from Washington D.C.
Walters and Governor Bull-Stitt both wanted to be promoted to D.C., but Stitt threw his support to Rhonda early in the presidential campaign, and was never forgiven.

I saw a TikTok video from a teacher in Oklahoma showing that those Bibles include the Constitution but only with the Bill of Rights (no 11th-27th Amendments) and includes the 3/5 rule for Black people. The 13th Amendment essentially removed that from the text. The 14th is about due process, of course, and this is the one that people receive proper treatment. The right hates this because it says "people" and not "citizens."

Sorry to disappoint everyone who thought Ryan Walters had porn on his TV screen during a board meeting, but the official investigation revealed it was a racy scene with naked women in the 1985 Jackie Chan movie [italic]The Protector[/italic].
Oklahoma House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, R-Bristow, who was the first to publicly call for an investigation, later announced that after his own sleuthing, he believed that the Walters TV incident was likely just “a bizarre accident” involving the Samsung TV Plus streaming services Channel 1204 showing an obscure, 1985 Jackie Chan film called “The Protector.”
In a press conference in Oklahoma City, Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said the situation was “the first of its kind” but that his office sought evidence of the truth without regard for politics.
Johnson said that in consultation with Samsung officials and follow-up interviews with board members Carson and Deatherage, he verified that it was the Jackie Chan movie that was playing on Walters’ office TV.
“It was just an accident, but with that being said, they did see what they came out and talked about. They did see those images,” Johnson said, according to a recording of the press conference from The Oklahoman.

Attorney general orders forensic audit of Oklahoma State Department of Education
"In light of Ryan Walters’ departure as state superintendent, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has ordered an investigative audit of the State Department of Education.
“Now that former State Superintendent Ryan Walters has formally resigned, a number of current and former OSDE staff have raised credible concerns about the spending practices under his leadership,” Drummond wrote in a Wednesday email to State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd, ordering the audit.
As requested, the audit would span Walters’ entire tenure as state superintendent, which ran from Jan. 9, 2023, through Tuesday. State statute allows for the Attorney General’s Office to call for an audit of government entities, including OSDE."
