Former FBI Director James Comey expected to be indicted soon in Virginia federal court

Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be indicted on criminal charges in the coming days in federal court in Virginia, MSNBC reported.

The expected indictment comes on the heels of a top prosecutor resigning under pressure after opposing the filing of charges against Comey, who for years has been a target of President Donald Trump's ire.

I'm no fan of his.

But this is some scary shit.

by Anonymousreply 1September 25, 2025 1:32 AM

Trump (in his first term) sicced the IRS on both Comey and McCabe.

by Anonymousreply 2September 25, 2025 1:34 AM

Was it worth it, Jim?

by Anonymousreply 3September 25, 2025 1:36 AM

He destroyed the country. Give him the chair.

by Anonymousreply 4September 25, 2025 1:36 AM

Very very fascist

by Anonymousreply 5September 25, 2025 1:37 AM

r4, Trump is the one destroying the country. Comey sucks but Trump is only doing this for revenge.

by Anonymousreply 6September 25, 2025 1:39 AM

I bet his dick is 7" flaccid.

by Anonymousreply 7September 25, 2025 2:27 AM

Trump had formerly said that he was going to seek retribution to all of those who did him wrong. Sick, twisted fucker. Lock him up, he needs to be caged.

by Anonymousreply 8September 25, 2025 2:33 AM

Comey unleashed this beast upon all of us. He started the fire. May he rot in Hell.

by Anonymousreply 9September 25, 2025 2:35 AM

Comey is too evil for hell itself. I’m glad his bitch daughter lost her job because the only reason he went after Hillary was because she was a woman.

by Anonymousreply 10September 25, 2025 2:54 AM

Trump got in thanks to his little stunt. Martha Stewart also outed what a little fame whore he was in her documentary.

by Anonymousreply 11September 25, 2025 2:55 AM

R10, you're glad his "bitch daughter" was fired by Trump for purely partisan reasons?!

by Anonymousreply 12September 25, 2025 4:32 AM

The evil one is Donald Trump. Don't forget it.

by Anonymousreply 13September 25, 2025 4:46 AM

R1 It’s not scary. He sabotaged the Clinton campaign too.

No one should feel bad for him.

by Anonymousreply 14September 25, 2025 4:49 AM

Is this evil bitch wearing eyeliner?

by Anonymousreply 15September 25, 2025 4:57 AM

Comey will never, ever admit he fucked over Hillary on purpose. He was just a Boy Scout following the rules. Sure, Jan.

This is yet another bad road Dump is going down but I have zero fucks to give for Comey.

by Anonymousreply 16September 25, 2025 5:27 AM

I agree that he should swing in the towne sqyare for what he did during the 2016 election. But this will likely get tossed out by the first judge who sees it. Unless they find a way to assign it to Florida’s own, Aileen Cannon (who strikingly resembles catatonic, post-family annihilation Andrea Yates, minus the orange jumpsuits).

by Anonymousreply 17September 25, 2025 5:54 AM

I didn’t think he was particularly on our side. Frankly I couldn’t figure him out.

by Anonymousreply 18September 25, 2025 6:17 AM

hopefully this will send a message.

no one did more to get trump elected in 2016 than comey, and now trump is trying to put him in jail. it’s a good reminder to current and future collaborators that trump doesn’t give a fuck about them, so just stay away.

by Anonymousreply 19September 25, 2025 6:30 AM

R18 he’s a woman hater.

by Anonymousreply 20September 25, 2025 10:48 AM

R12 yes you stupid turd.

by Anonymousreply 21September 25, 2025 10:48 AM

R14, what's scary is that no matter how unsympathetic or deserving of retribution Comey is, Comey's indictment is purely personal revenge against him, a private citizen, by the utterly unhinged megalomaniac President of the United States, who has the entire force of the Federal government to throw at him - and Comey is likely to be the first of many going to Trump's guillotine, many of whom WILL be sympathetic. It's what Comey's indictment symbolizes that is so fucking scary.

by Anonymousreply 22September 25, 2025 1:24 PM

R29, no, Comey “helped” Trump not out of loyalty, but out of a sense of duty. He believed that getting caught concealing the investigation would be more damaging. Right or wrong, it wasn’t about support for Trump.

These charges could also flop; sending a message that Americans aren’t going to put up with thisz

by Anonymousreply 23September 25, 2025 1:44 PM

This will be the biggest mistake the Trump administration could make.

Comey knows where the bodies are buried, and he's going to dig them all up for the world to see.

by Anonymousreply 24September 25, 2025 1:45 PM

Not exactly, R24. Mr. Comey could make the unfortunate choice to be near an open window.

by Anonymousreply 25September 25, 2025 4:47 PM

Poor Pammykins is nervous about charging Comey.

On the one hand, charging him could completely end her career. On the other hand, not charging him could completely end her career.

Thoughts and prayers, Pammykins. You chose this job.

by Anonymousreply 27September 25, 2025 4:55 PM

R27 She's gonna need a job after this administration. So yes.

by Anonymousreply 28September 25, 2025 4:58 PM

I can’t stand the sanctimonious sexist Comey.

But what r22 said.

by Anonymousreply 29September 25, 2025 5:01 PM

Trump is just a numbskull figurehead like Reagan and GWB. He didn't get to where he is now without years of support from millions of assholes like Comey. As with Saint Charlie, I don't wish this fate on him, but I also did everything I could to prevent it., and I'd rather reserve my sympathy for the truly innocent victims of this situation he helped bring about.

by Anonymousreply 30September 25, 2025 5:03 PM

Indicted for being taller than Trump, Comey is 6'8".

by Anonymousreply 36September 25, 2025 11:06 PM

I hate sticking up for Comey because I can't stand him, but I don't trust ANYTHING coming out of Trump's DOJ cabal.

Hell, I don't put it past them to create false evidence to put before jurors.

And it even crosses my mind to think they gathered fake grand jurors and paid them.

Too far, you say? I'm dabbling in Q-anon level conspiracy theories? Not when you know that the identities of grand jury members are sealed.

Once again, President Blowhard abuses his power.

by Anonymousreply 38September 25, 2025 11:12 PM

Don't worry, legal eagle Lindsey Halligan is on the case!

by Anonymousreply 39September 25, 2025 11:13 PM

Apparently Trump is the most powerful president of all time and I’m saying this disregarding all the unconstitutional shit he has done. Biden and the DOJ just did not have enough time to prosecute Trump with documented tweets of him causing an insurrection. 4 years simply wasn’t enough time.

Im starting to think all this shit is a farce. And this is just important people high performance art as they all laugh all the way to the bank.

by Anonymousreply 40September 25, 2025 11:15 PM

One of the first statements out about Comey is from Sen. Kaine:

“I’ve had my differences with James Comey in the past, but I can spot trumped-up charges a mile away. Trump said he’d go after him, then fired a superb, ethical prosecutor when he refused to bring frivolous charges against those whom Trump perceived to be his enemies. Now he has installed yet another one of his personal lawyers as the interim U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia—this one a Florida insurance lawyer with no prosecutorial experience and no connection to Virginia—to do his bidding. The rule of law must prevail.”

R40 Garland had the opportunity to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate Trump on Day 1 of the Biden administration. Instead, he waited three fucking years to do it. Had he acted earlier, Trump may very well have been in prison today.

by Anonymousreply 42September 25, 2025 11:21 PM

Highly doubtful, R42.

by Anonymousreply 43September 25, 2025 11:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 45September 25, 2025 11:25 PM

Trump is gonna regret this move.

Comey's attorneys will release all the dirt Comey has on the orange turd.

This could end up being very entertaining.

by Anonymousreply 50September 25, 2025 11:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 51September 26, 2025 12:00 AM

Comey is a motherfucker for what he did to Hillary Clinton and her presidential campaign. We ended up with a disaster and Trump.

However, this indictment is wrong. Trump and his authoritarian administration that he is working to create are going down a dangerous path for the country.

by Anonymousreply 71September 26, 2025 1:40 AM

It isn’t, r70? Everyone is all excited thinking that asshole is going to “reveal” some damning info about the traitor, and I’m saying he won’t do shit.

The case will get tossed and he will continue to be a rethug loser.

by Anonymousreply 72September 26, 2025 1:46 AM

[quote]Everyone is all excited thinking that asshole is going to “reveal” some damning info about the traitor,

Who's saying that, r72? What info would he have? This is about defending himself against the charges. What info on Trump would be germane to this case?

by Anonymousreply 73September 26, 2025 1:50 AM

It’s important for everyone to know that it was a grand jury that indicted him. A panel of regular citizens looked at the evidence that the government presented and decided it was sufficient to bring him to trial. This proves that the Comey protectors in the Justice Department and elsewhere were not telling the truth when they claimed there was no evidence.

[quote] The case will get tossed and he will continue to be a rethug loser.

Comey getting a mugshot and having it released to the public makes the whole thing worth it.

by Anonymousreply 74September 26, 2025 1:51 AM

[quote]This proves that the Comey protectors in the Justice Department and elsewhere were not telling the truth when they claimed there was no evidence.

You’ve apparently never heard the quote about a grand jury indicting a ham sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 75September 26, 2025 1:55 AM

R74 Grand juries will indict a ham sandwich. Means nothing.

by Anonymousreply 76September 26, 2025 1:56 AM

I have no idea why the people in this thread think he’s going to reveal something, r73.

R24 and r46 are salivating at the thought that fool is going to reveal something about the traitor.

So not everyone in the thread, but two people are speculating about it.

by Anonymousreply 77September 26, 2025 1:58 AM

[quote] Grand juries will indict a ham sandwich.

The guy who threw that sandwich at a CPB officer and was arrested for it was not indicted by a grand jury. They declined to do so, proving the lie that it’s a rubber stamp.

by Anonymousreply 78September 26, 2025 2:04 AM

R74, then explain why a prosecutor was fired for declining to bring charges

by Anonymousreply 79September 26, 2025 2:11 AM

Also, with the Comey grand jury, there were three counts presented by the government. After reviewing the evidence, the grand jury decided there would be indictments on only two of the counts, with insufficient number of jurors believing the evidence warranted an indictment on the third count.

by Anonymousreply 80September 26, 2025 2:13 AM

Idiot at R40

BIDEN DID NOT PROSECUTE TRUMP BECAUSE HE WANTED HIM AS AN OPPONENT IN 2024. Democrats were begging Biden to start criminal justice proceedings. Biden thinks only of himself and the power he feels he is entitled to. Hell isn’t hot enough.

by Anonymousreply 81September 26, 2025 2:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 82September 26, 2025 2:18 AM

[quote]Republicans have this genius for making Lefties defend things they don't really like. Hillary. James Comey. Obamacare.

"Lefties" don't like Democratic candidates? The rule of law? Increased access to health care? You seem to be confusing the particulars with the principles that progressives defend: a double straw-man move, depending on what you mean by "lefty."

by Anonymousreply 106September 26, 2025 11:47 AM

This lawsuit is going nowhere. It is so weak that Trump’s last prosecutor refused to take it because they said they didn’t have enough evidence /basis to go through with it. Now he’s appointed a “lawyer “(bimbo) who was in one of his pageants. Oh yeah, she’s a real estate lawyer who’s never prosecuted a case.

And if the case does go through it’s an absolute disaster because Comey will now be compelled to divulge absolutely all he knows about Trump’s actions.

by Anonymousreply 107September 26, 2025 11:48 AM

Comey should discuss the Epstein files in all of his legal challenges to this case, throw it in whenever he can. Otherwise, bye Lurch!

by Anonymousreply 108September 26, 2025 12:47 PM

R73….

by Anonymousreply 109September 26, 2025 12:53 PM

We get it, R72. You think you know everything.

by Anonymousreply 110September 26, 2025 1:06 PM

R74 What you're forgetting to mention is that grand juries only seee and hear what the prosecution presents to them, so their decisions are made solely on one-sided information. And being as the Trump administration is so grossly incompetent, it will likely be quite easy for the defense to sink the case quickly in trial.

by Anonymousreply 111September 26, 2025 1:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 132September 27, 2025 2:34 AM

What “crimes” did Hillary commit? And the time frame to prosecute those crimes has probably passed. Plus Trump will be very busy going after the black female prosecutors who went after him.

by Anonymousreply 133September 27, 2025 3:27 AM

Do even MAGAs want Trump getting revenge on his enemies when inflation and joblessness are real problems? I think not.

by Anonymousreply 134September 27, 2025 3:29 AM

Since when do MAGAs care about any actual issues, R134? They just want to be entertained by their orange god.

by Anonymousreply 135September 27, 2025 3:35 AM

I don't give a single shit about him nor what this may "mean for democracy".

by Anonymousreply 136September 27, 2025 3:36 AM

That is so true R135.

by Anonymousreply 137September 27, 2025 3:37 AM

The details of the case are weak mishmash. Zero percent juicy and legally there is no substance to it. It’s going to turn out to be an embarrassment for Trump and the DOJ.

by Anonymousreply 138September 27, 2025 3:39 AM

Everybody knows about how Trump threatens and then lodges these charges to destroy someone with a financial burden, severe stress, interruption of employment, intense scrutiny by media and public. He instructed Bondi to do this and has installed a loyalist to do it. Trump doesn't care if the case is thrown out R138. He won't be embarrassed. He'll just say "corrupt, RAAADICAL liberal judges" etc. The point is to ruin the person's life and family with what's required to fight a federal government level case. Trump's done this hundreds of times as a citizen in his lifetime.

by Anonymousreply 139September 27, 2025 5:13 AM

Comey is a kkkunt! He allowed that shit about Hillary and her assistants husband's emails/computer shit come out b4 the 2016 election of course with the help of the Guliani foul... however, discovery in this case will destroy trump and I'm so happy about that!!!

It’s hard to feel sorry for Comey Gurl.

Even in his response video, he’s ever the sanctimonious little bitch.

Of course we can’t condone political prosecutions, etc.

by Anonymousreply 142September 27, 2025 8:03 AM

[quote]Is this evil bitch wearing eyeliner?

The real crime is that awful, three-shades-too-light concealer he’s always wearing.

by Anonymousreply 143September 27, 2025 8:09 AM

IF it sticks, this will be Trump's greatest accomplishment IMO

by Anonymousreply 144September 27, 2025 10:31 AM

[quote]It’s going to turn out to be an embarrassment for Trump and the DOJ.

I think it's obvious Trump and his sycophants are incapable of feeling embarrassed.

by Anonymousreply 145September 27, 2025 11:22 AM

I don’t understand why he still has a hard on for Comey. He fired him, fired his daughter, & now this?

I’ve never understood people who are constantly seeking revenge, other than they’re usually VERY unhappy people.

by Anonymousreply 146September 27, 2025 11:55 AM

What’s happening to Comey is bad. But he’s such an enormous piece of shit that I really don’t care.

by Anonymousreply 147September 27, 2025 11:58 AM

[quote]IF it sticks, this will be Trump's greatest accomplishment IMO

Among so many fine accomplishments.

by Anonymousreply 148September 27, 2025 12:01 PM

R146 - if you haven’t noticed, Dump is throwing everything at the wall to distract from who knows what *wink, wink*. Plus he’s an enormous piece of shit who demands loyalty but gives none in return. Unless you’re Russian. Oh, and he’s a petty snowflake. But as others have said, fuck Comey. If not for him and his interference, 2016 might have gone differently.

by Anonymousreply 149September 27, 2025 12:07 PM

Of course, Trump doesn't care if Comey (or any of his other targets) are actually found guilty, he just wants the hassle and expense of a defense to scare off other critics.

Americans are litigious but have not mainstreamed legal insurance? It's like health insurance, for legal troubles. Wouldn't Comey have it?

From cleveland.com. Probably limited to subscribers, so here it is:

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former Miss Colorado finalist Lindsey Halligan has now been crowned the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia by/behalf of President Donald Trump who is not only Commander-in-Chief but U.S. Attorney General/Prosecutor-in-Chief and TV Programer-in-Chief. Halligan promptly followed Trump’s orders and brought an indictment of former FBI Director James Comey on two counts Thursday.

Former Miss Colorado finalist turned insurance lawyer Halligan has zero experience prosecuting criminal cases just as there is zero credible evidence to justify indicting Comey. There is however ample evidence the Prosecutor-in-Chief Trump’s case is vindictive which is why odds are it will soon be dismissed.

Halligan first met Trump at his Florida golf course in 2021. She stood out wearing a suit, not a swimsuit, a business suit and was hired as one his staff attorneys a year later. At the time she had only handled insurance cases.

When interim U.S. Attorney for Virginia Erik Siebert, also a Trump appointee, stalled bringing Comey charges for lack of strong evidence, he was fired by Trump and replaced by Halligan. Before the grand jury, Halligan presented the case herself without any assistance. Those are two big red or Trump Orange flags the case is weak. The lead prosecutor usually never presents to the grand jury and it’s usually done as a team.

An Inspector General’s investigation and report had already cleared Comey on all related to the indictment.

Another sign of Halligan’s inexperience as a criminal prosecutor showed when the charges she brought before the grand jury were mis-numbered with two count twos.

Beyond Trump’s personal vendetta and retribution, the two counts Comey was indicted on are:

1) Making false statements. 2) Obstruction of a congressional proceeding.

The flawed bases of the indictments is the exchange between Sen. Ted Cruz and Comey during a Congressional hearing.

In questioning Comey, Sen. Cruz misrepresented the actual on the record account of former FBI Assistant Dir. Andrew McCabe about a leak from the FBI to the New York Times. Questioning Comey, Cruz incorrectly said McCabe had testified Comey authorized the leak. In fact, McCabe said he himself had authorized the leak not Comey, and he only told Comey about it the day after it was done when the news broke.

by Anonymousreply 152September 28, 2025 12:14 AM

Oh, cool, now I have another reason to hate Ted Cruz

by Anonymousreply 153September 28, 2025 12:22 AM

Such incompetence. But she has great tits.

[quote]U.S. Magistrate Judge Lindsey Vaala expressed confusion and surprise at some points during the seven-minute court session when a federal grand jury impaneled in Alexandria, Virginia, returned the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey Thursday night. According to a transcript of the proceedings obtained by CBS News, Judge Vaala asked the newly named interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan — a former Trump personal lawyer — why there were two versions of the indictment.

[quote]But two versions of the indictment were published on the case docket: one with the dropped third count, and one without. The transcript reveals why this occurred. "So this has never happened before. I've been handed two documents that are in the Mr. Comey case that are inconsistent with one another," Vaala said to Halligan. "There seems to be a discrepancy. They're both signed by the (grand jury) foreperson."

[quote]And she noted that one document did not clearly indicate what the grand jury had decided. "The one that says it's a failure to concur in an indictment, it doesn't say with respect to one count," Vaala said. "It looks like they failed to concur across all three counts, so I'm a little confused as to why I was handed two things with the same case number that are inconsistent."

[quote]Halligan initially responded that she hadn't seen that version of the indictment. "So I only reviewed the one with the two counts that our office redrafted when we found out about the two — two counts that were true billed, and I signed that one. I did not see the other one. I don't know where that came from," Halligan told the judge. Vaala responded, "You didn't see it?" And Halligan again told her, "I did not see that one." Vaala seemed surprised: "So your office didn't prepare the indictment that they —" Halligan then replied, "No, no, no — I — no, I prepared three counts. I only signed the one — the two-count (indictment). I don't know which one with three counts you have in your hands." "Okay. It has your signature on it," Vaala told Halligan, who responded, "Okay. Well."

This is like when Alina Habba was so incompetent she didn't know to check the box on the form requesting a jury trial. And then Trump whined about not having a jury trial.

by Anonymousreply 155September 28, 2025 1:13 AM

What a shitshow. More monkey wrenches in the wheels of the American justice system.

So, Comey's already been exonerated by a DOJ IG investigation for the very same thing he's now been criminally indicted for by DOJ.

[quote]Comey's already been exonerated by a DOJ IG investigation

We know that Comey has friends everywhere. That's been the problem.

by Anonymousreply 162September 29, 2025 12:54 AM

Problem? What are you talking about, r162?

by Anonymousreply 163September 29, 2025 1:29 AM

R162 Go jump up your mother’s clown hole.

Comey is innocent of these supposed crimes. It doesn’t make him a crook or a special case. It makes him innocent.

Innocent until proven guilty...

Michael Cohen stunned an MSNBC panel on Saturday by stating that he believed former FBI Director James Comey “likely committed a crime” while reacting to news of the indictment.

Cohen, who was President Trump’s personal lawyer for many years, surprised MSNBC panelists Elise Jordan, Ayman Mohyeldin and Molly Jong-Fast by saying, “I believe likely he will be found guilty.”

“Well, that’s interesting,” Jordan said as Cohen added, “I believe likely he committed a crime.”

“Wait, what?” Jong-Fast added.

“I don’t know what that crime is, but there are hundreds of thousands of documents, and the government has each and every one of them, all they need to find is that one,” Cohen said.

“I’ve been through this system. I know better than anybody what a weaponized DOJ looks like and feels like. It is insurmountable.”

Jordan pressed Cohen on whether he actually broke “the law,” as he explained he pleaded guilty in his case.

Cohen was charged and then pleaded guilty in 2018 to crimes including tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and lying to Congress.

Cohen later cooperated with investigations into Trump, publicly testifying against him during Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s hush money trial and becoming a vocal critic.

Mohyeldin asked Cohen to clarify whether he thought the Department of Justice had been weaponized under Trump.

Cohen argued the DOJ had been weaponized by the government for as long as it’s been around.

“I think your argument is it was weaponized then, by Comey against Donald Trump. That’s what you’re arguing right now,” Jordan said, attempting to clarify Cohen’s argument.

“And so you think that there will be evidence that will show that in court, and so thus validate Donald Trump’s vendetta against James Comey.”

Cohen agreed and said, “I couldn’t have said it better myself.”

Comey was indicted by a grand jury on two counts: alleged false statements within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch and obstruction of congressional proceeding.

Comey will reportedly turn himself in on Friday and his arraignment is set for 10 a.m. Oct. 9, in Alexandria Courtroom 600 before District Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff.

Kash will be jerking his nubbin to that footage for the rest of his life, no doubt.
