Delta Air Lines is quietly 'embracing MAGA'
Delta has quietly updated its operations manual, AviationA2Z reported, confirming changes to terms its pilots and crews should use moving forward. First, the airline will officially refer to the “Gulf of Mexico” as the “Gulf of America” — a move sparked by the “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness” executive order Trump signed in January.
Delta has also shifted from issuing “Notices to Air Missions” — a gender-neutral term adopted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2021 — back to the previously used phrase “Notices to Airmen.” This follows the FAA’s decision to revert to the male-focused phrasing back in February. The 2021 change had been recommended by an external committee along with other updates meant to discourage gender stereotypes in aviation like using “flight deck” instead of “cockpit,” AviationA2Z reported.
The president was thrilled to learn of the change, taking to his Truth Social platform to share an image of the operations manual update along with a message he received from a Delta Air Lines pilot. “From a Delta Captain: ‘I thought you would get a kick out of this. Delta’s official memo to employees. Big changes Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. And the liberals thought Notice to Airman was racist [s]o they changed it to Notice to Air Missions. Delta just changed it back to Notice to Airman. I think they are finally embracing MAGA,'” read the message Trump posted.

Airmen is both the masculine and neuter form for the word which makes it nonbinary.

And then the wing got ripped off a jet when two Delta planes collided at La Guardia.
Did Mr Campos-Duffy anticipate his tenure would be so harsh only nine months in?

No, I notice that Trump and many Trump followers intentionally misuse the word racist to demean the idea that racism exists. By extension, any idea in opposition to Trump is "some liberal going nuts because he thinks the 'Gulf of America' is racist... that saying the pledge of allegiance in schools is racist... that painting over rainbow crosswalks is racist...
I don't like to suggest that this bunch is intelligent, and in word meaning they are not. But in misusing words to intentionally belittle opposition concerns about racism, sexism, and classism, they are quite knowingly attempting to paint liberals as kooks with kooky ideas.

What us "restorative" about that? It has *always* been "Gulf of Mexico" from the very first time it was labeled in early modern maps (16th Century).

I always disliked Delta without being able to quite put a finger on why. There was always a certain corporate smugness to their averageness, and the couple of times when I encountered High Level Cuntitude in customer service was with Delta. I avoided them as much as possible and didn't mind paying a reasonable amount more for another airline.
Part of it I think is that there seems to be some smugness among Delta personnel, it reminds me of the cliques of pretties and jocks in a high school, the ones for whom age 18 was life's peak before cellulite and balding and premature spread.

Trump will change it back the minute a storm in the "Gulf of America" wipes out a few small towns in MS, AL, FL, and LA. It will sound better if the Gulf of MEXICO destroys these cities than saying it was done by the Gulf of AMERICA.

Incredible. America is saved. By using man words, god will bless Delta and prevent their planes from falling out of the sky. I never believed we’d have a leader who solved the real problems, but here we are.

They don’t make those decisions. All airlines go by the government. This wasn’t their call.

Who cares about this type of shit? Good lord. Stupid for MAGA to be upset about words, and stupid for anyone else to be upset that a Delta is changing the words back again. Corporations are always going to try and appease the government for various money and profit-related reasons. Same as it ever was, not a surprise.
