Claudia Cardinale Is DEAD to Me!

Stunning Italian actress of the 60's. She was 87.

We played bocce ball just last week!

Claudia was beautiful.

My grandmother called her CLOWDIA. She was from Scotland. (my grandmother not Ms Cardinale) (and she was short and stout and resented attractive women who ATE GARLIC!)

by Anonymousreply 4September 23, 2025 9:56 PM

She had very beautiful eyes (Claudia, not R4's grandmother).

She was such a beauty in "The Leopard."

My partner's dad was a big fan of hers and frankly who could blame him. If I was into women I probably would have been as well. Besides the knockout figure, she had the sweetest smile and a fabulous mane of hair.

She did a movie with Rock Hudson and they got along well

by Anonymousreply 12September 23, 2025 10:55 PM

I liked her in the original The Pink Panther.

by Anonymousreply 13September 23, 2025 10:59 PM

She has the expression, “Who farted?!”

by Anonymousreply 14September 23, 2025 11:03 PM

Cardinale couldn’t speak English, so all of her dialog in The Pink Panther was dubbed by another actress.

by Anonymousreply 15September 23, 2025 11:13 PM

A real natural beauty. rIP sweet lady

by Anonymousreply 16September 23, 2025 11:13 PM

Claudia became a star in Italian language films, but she didn't speak Italian until she went into pictures. She was born in the then French protectorate of Tunisia and spoke French primarily, but also learned the Sicilian language of her parents, Francesco, born in Sicily, and Yolande, born in the Italian colony of Tripolitania in present day Libya.

by Anonymousreply 17September 24, 2025 12:22 AM

R15 true......I couldn't understand a word she said in CIRCUS WORLD.....and later in DON'T MAKE WAVES.

The other night I started watching The Pink Panther and her English was great. I thought - something's up.....and yes IMDB tells me her lines were dubbed by Gale Garnett who later had a top ten song hit with "We'll Sing In The Sunshine."

Truly a wonderful actress who did not let her beauty hinder her as an artist. One of my favorite films is “Girl with a Suitcase” by Valerio Zurlini about a young starlet who infatuates a teenage Jacques Perrin.

by Anonymousreply 21September 24, 2025 12:37 AM

Rock Hudson was supposed to star opposite Gina Lollobrigida in Blindfold but got stuck with Claudia who he considered a poor replacement. Unlike Gina who he adored . They did not get along off screen and had zero on screen chemistry.

Love The Leopard

As "The Adulteress" in Jesus of Nazareth. Cardinale conveyed a lot with almost no dialog.

Claudia Cardinale

Have I got that right?

by Anonymousreply 25September 24, 2025 12:50 AM

Oy.

My eldergay husband just said: "She was married to Andy Williams, right?"

by Anonymousreply 26September 24, 2025 12:54 AM

She was beautiful in her youth. RIP.

R25, Graham Greene, Polly Holliday

[quote]My grandmother called her CLOWDIA.

That's how it's pronounced in Italian.

by Anonymousreply 29September 24, 2025 1:53 AM

I thought she was the young daughter that asked for the head of John The Baptist.

I knew I had seen her in some biblical epic. 🤔

by Anonymousreply 30September 24, 2025 2:08 AM

Maybe you were thinking of “Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia” ;)

by Anonymousreply 31September 24, 2025 2:17 AM

Her Eminence!

by Anonymousreply 32September 24, 2025 2:25 AM

Her pussy smelled.

by Anonymousreply 33September 24, 2025 2:38 AM

^ as do they all

She got to work with Alain Delon at his most handsome, although apparently nothing romantic happened between them.

Her bodacious tatas were the most epic thing in Sergio Leone's epic Spaghetti Western ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (68).

by Anonymousreply 39September 24, 2025 10:47 AM

Did she eventually learn enough English so as not to be dubbed? Did she make many non-Italian films?

Sorry, never really followed her career much.......

by Anonymousreply 40September 24, 2025 1:19 PM

Is it my imagination or do we see more celebrity deaths as seasons change?

by Anonymousreply 41September 24, 2025 1:54 PM

I was admiring her beauty in The Pink Panther over the weekend. I looked her up and was glad to see she was still alive. Oh well.

by Anonymousreply 42September 24, 2025 2:11 PM

Her wikipedia page describes her as an activist and politically liberal...maybe Trump's UN speech is what did her in 😄

by Anonymousreply 43September 24, 2025 2:37 PM

She was in "Once Upon a Time in the West" with Henry Fonda (playing a bad guy, great performance), Charles Bronson& Jason Robards Jr. It's a great western movie, directed by Sergio Leone

by Anonymousreply 44September 24, 2025 2:46 PM

R42 strikes again! 🤦🏻‍♂️

R42 also attended a Charlie Kirk rally three weeks ago.

In late February of 2013, r42 purchased the complete DVD set of “One Day at a Time” to enjoy Bonnie Franklin’s magnum opus “while she’s still alive.”

by Anonymousreply 45September 24, 2025 2:49 PM

R40, Claudia learned enough English to get by, but spoke with a heavy accent and ended up getting dubbed in practically all her English language films, including "Once Upon a Time kn the West."

[Quote] What does 60 possess?

by Anonymousreply 47September 24, 2025 2:50 PM

R45, Are you off your meds again? You sound deranged.

by Anonymousreply 48September 24, 2025 3:07 PM

Were her and Rock Hudson friends?

by Anonymousreply 49September 24, 2025 3:24 PM

Claudia had a son, Patrizio (Patrick), born out of wedlock (some have reported that it was a rape), when she was 19 yrs old and just starting her career. This scandal would've have ended her career prospects, so she hid her pregnancy by moving to London "to learn English" and passed Patrizio off as her brother, until journalist Enzo Biagi uncovered the truth.

by Anonymousreply 50September 24, 2025 3:35 PM

Oh no, r42/r48 is showing me attention now! I’d better get my affairs in order.

by Anonymousreply 51September 24, 2025 3:45 PM

[quote]Were her and Rock Hudson friends?

by Anonymousreply 52September 24, 2025 3:46 PM

Yes, they be, r49

by Anonymousreply 53September 24, 2025 3:46 PM

R13 She was very beautiful in that charming old film, The Pink Panther. And that cast overall was so engaging. They were also styled amazingly. That film is such a pleasure to watch, even if only for the performance of the song Meglio Stacera, and of course, Capucine (playing the beautiful scheming adulteress and thief).

by Anonymousreply 54September 24, 2025 5:08 PM

[quote][R42] strikes again!

R42, it's your duty to get your ass to Trump Tower ASAP.

by Anonymousreply 55September 24, 2025 5:34 PM

There are no screen beauties like Claudia and Brigitte Bardot anymore. She had a beautiful screen presence and was lucky to work steadily over the decades.

by Anonymousreply 56September 24, 2025 6:28 PM

Claudia had a "great rack too"!!

by Anonymousreply 57September 24, 2025 6:32 PM

At her most fabulous in Visconti's SANDRA (65), co-starring the equally beautiful Jean Sorel and Michael Craig. It's fantastic Eurotrash incest drama.

by Anonymousreply 58September 24, 2025 6:45 PM

RIP Claudia. She was such a sweet and wholesome gal.

R22, you are wrong when you imply that Claudia Cardinale and Rock Hudson didn’t get along, they became great friends, palled around together when they found themselves in the same city, and she was willing to casually beard for him when they were sometimes romantically linked for publicity purposes. She knew the score and liked him a lot. A real earth mother, that one.

And unforgettably beautiful in the unforgettably beautiful film of “The Leopard.” I was amused to read in her NY Times obituary that she was quoted as saying that “Leopard” director Luchino Visconti taught her how to be beautiful, presumably by getting her to slow down, exude confidence, allow herself to be quiet and serene, therefore suggesting mystery, something hidden, which Visconti considered the essence of feminine beauty and glamor. And it worked.

Which upcoming classic era film stars' deaths will get the most attention in the USA?

by Anonymousreply 64September 24, 2025 9:35 PM

It would have to be Carroll Baker.

by Anonymousreply 65September 24, 2025 9:47 PM

I thought she died five years ago. And then I remembered that since I'm a teeny weenie gayling I always got her mixed up with Marie Laforêt, but I didn't know why. Well, until today. Today that is. Because today, for the first time, I compared the way they used to look in their glorious years and I was like "they actually look a lot alike: brunettes olive skin,,striking green(ish) eyes, gorgeous faces, soft features. Then same age, more or less the same professional trajectory in the same years. Now I get it: I would get them all mixed up even p if they were my own daughters",

Well, except for one thing: the fact that Marie Laforêt had more the Ozempic version of Claudia Cardinal's face, years before Ozempic face became a thing. Anyway I liked them both and am/was saddened by their passing.

R66, Marie Laforêt was scrawny compared to the voluptuous Cardinale. She also had a very successful career as a pop/rock/folk singer. Cardinale did not. I would have never confused the two, but that's just me, since I was dazzled by Cardinale since first seeing her in "The Pink Panther." I've only seen Laforêt in "Plein Soleil" and wasn't particularly impressed.

by Anonymousreply 70September 25, 2025 4:22 AM

How weird that TCM did not include a shot of THE LEOPARD in their memoriam.

Could there be a rights issue?

by Anonymousreply 71September 25, 2025 2:09 PM

^ it's a fan made video, not made by TCM. Hope TCM puts out their own.
