He's not going anywhere...

R1 = Bob Iger's wife, hoping to keep the gravy train running in her direction forever and a day.

Long before the Jimmy Kimmel controversy, Iger's departure has been planned and a successor will be named in 2026.
The current CEO, Bob Iger, remains under contract until December 31, 2026, but the board has made it clear: the transition process is well underway. Helping guide this process is James Gorman, who became chairman of the Disney board in January 2025.
There are four major names still standing as Disney’s succession race narrows. All of them are internal contenders, which means they know the company—but each brings a different flavor:
Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences
Dana Walden, Co-Chair of Disney Entertainment
Alan Bergman, Co-Chair of Disney Entertainment
Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman of ESPN
Among the four, Josh D’Amaro appears to be emerging as the fan-favorite and internal frontrunner.

Disney still has a ton of problems, but at this point, it would probably be best for them to not make big changes to their transition process.
But his decisions will be getting much more scrutiny.

Vivian Vance has had sufficient.

R3, are the leading candidates all the gutless, spineless cowards that Iger has proven himself to be?

No, R6, of course not. As a nervous newbie CEO, they’ll be much more gutless and spineless.

Demons from hell

He'll ride out his contract, and Josh D'Amaro or Alan Bergman will replace him.

The whole Iger >> Chapek >> Iger thing was so strange.
Chapek was only in charge for 2 years. The majority of everything he was dealing with, including movies released and programming, was all approved by Iger.
The only big thing was the "dont say gay" Florida bill and his response. Otherwise, they frequently cite a "frosty" relationship with Iger, who was supposed to be retired from the role, as a problem. Why would he need a good relationship with his predecessor, other than the man probably still had dozens of people still working there who owed him favors.
It was all so strange.

Who cares?

I don't "do"Disney anything so they can dry up and float away for all I care.

This is the same Bob Iger that outsmarted DeSantis at his own game. I still give him credit for pulling that one off so expertly.

Other than being one of the largest media companies in the world?
You'd be a fool to ignore them. There's a reason why all the fundie nutbags are building their own studios and releasing movies pushing their political agenda.
Just look at the whole ABC affiliate/Kimmel thing. Controlling the media is controlling America.

There is no succession planning. I’m the last CEO of The Walt Disney Company. I’m selling most of the business to Apple. I’d said I wanted to in my book. I’ll spin off the parks and Josh can run that if he wants.

Hey Bob, my wife is still looking for voice work, remember?
