Top of my list is actress Glenn Close, 78. I'd like to learn more about her early days starting out (especially on stage) and I really would like to know her side of the story about 'Sunset Blvd' in 1993. We've heard Lupone's side, now it's time for Close to tell all. As far as I know, I don't think she's ever hinted she was working on a memoir or had any plans to do so. I think she'd have an interesting story to share with all.
Who do you think should release a memoir ?

I'm always more interested in writers', directors', or showrunners' memoirs because they're usually more intelligent than actors, and usually more honest.
I'd love to read memoirs by Scorsese, Spielberg, Matt Weiner, David Chase.

Rosanna Arquette - seriously.
She was the name for Toto's biggest hit Rosanna (she was dating a guy in Toto at the time). She was on Madonna's first film. She dated Peter Gabriel, Sting, she was really close/dated Paul McCartney, and many many more.
She turned down the role for The Accused - and Jodie Foster took it.
She really got around - but she never made it that big professionally. She must have something that I can see - because I wouldn't say she's exactly a beauty.

I remember when Elton's memoir came out a couple of years ago, and I was working for our public library. We were a very busy library, and patrons always wanted the 'newest releases' that had the most buzz in the media We ordered two copies of his book when it came out, hoping it would cut down on the 'wait list' we were expecting. We were surprised to see it wasn't the 'blockbuster' book we thought it would be. There wasn't much of a 'wait list' to speak of, and we certainly didn't need two books (after a couple of months we traded it for another book with a library from another city). I was hesitant about checking it out myself (I'm not a huge EJ fan, but I thought his memoir would be worth reading) and when I asked the patrons who returned it what they thought, it was mostly an "Ehh. It was okay." I never bothered with it.

I would enjoy a memoir by Joy Behar of 'The View'. For 25+ years she has shared a lot of 'memories' of her life from growing up in an Italian family as an only child to becoming a success. I think it's high time she elaborated on those stories and put them in book form.

R55 I actually enjoyed her book last year. For me, it was a nice relief after trudging through Streisand's 900+ pages covering much trivial nonsense (and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her book). Cher's was very straight-forward and to the point with a sense of humor thrown in. I enjoyed it. I'm glad she split it into 2 volumes.

R20, I believe Rosanna clarified the Toto song was not written about her, as it was written before she started dating the Toto member. I do think she has some good stories to tell though.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 24, 2025 11:11 AM |
R20 R63 This article states Arquette went on talk shows after the song came out, falsely claiming the song was about her.
[Quote] And yet, even as it was a hit around the world there was a major bone of contention surrounding Rosanna. On the television networks of America, Rosanna Arquette was informing audiences that the song had been written in tribute to her.
[Quote] “It was just an opportune moment for her to grab the brass ring and run with it,” says Kimball. “She was just starting her career, and the song was so big that she went on several talk shows and said it was about her. But I can tell you that it wasn’t. David’s line was always that he just used the name because it fitted into the song. Then she came into the picture and claimed it.”
[Quote] That sentiment that has always been supported by Paich. “Rosanna is about three girls I knew, all rolled into one,” he explains. “After I met Rosanna Arquette I just stole her name and stuck it on there.”
[Quote] As the years went by, the war of words between Arquette and Toto over the spiritual ownership of Rosanna has gone back and forth, ranging in tone from playful to hostile. In one 2006 interview Lukather openly expressed the opinion that “that bitch has ridden our coat-tails long enough”. Arquette, meanwhile, has claimed in print that she doesn’t even like the song. “That’s because it’s no longer useful to her,” argues Kimball.

Coached Streisand on Yentl and did a Romeo and Juliet production with her that Streisand said was her best piece of acting. Was Sandra Bullock's acting coach/mentor when she first got into showbiz.)

I just looked him up and wow he's 103, born on January 20, 1922.
At just 18 in 1940, he joined Glenn Miller's (then new) band, making him the last surviving member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, which disbanded in 1944 due to Miller's disappearance during WW2.
He, too, served in the military during the war, and in the '50s was married to blonde bombshell Mamie Van Doren, who is still alive at age 94.
Personally, I'd be very interested in what he has to say about growing up in the '20s and '30s. I'm drawn to those two decades for the cars, which were still archaic-looking, and the trends/fashions.
It was a transitional period between the two world wars.
Women's attire changed drastically in the '20s, which also saw the debut of radio (1920) and talking pictures (1927). The radio, in particular, became the dominant home entertainment medium, until it was replaced with television in the 1950s.
Handsome man, too.

Here's a short video of Tim Curry promoting the audiobook of his memoir Vagabond. He said it is about his "wicked, wicked life" but couldn't use that title because it was too similar to the one Errol Flynn chose for his memoir. Tim said he could give Flynn a run for his money.
I hope this is not false advertising. If it is, there will be a lot of disappointed fans, after that tease.
What do you think: will the notoriously private Mr. Curry reveal himself, after all these years?
(I could only find this video on Facebook. Link below.)
