Favorite Tommy Lee Jones Performance?

Though he’d much prefer working on his Texas ranch to mingling at a glamorous Hollywood cocktail party, Tommy Lee Jones remains one of the finest actors of the late 20th century— an everyman, a true man’s man.

So, what is your favorite Tommy Lee Jones Performance?

He is good friends with Vice President Al Gore

Were they college roommates or is that a myth?

by Anonymousreply 2September 20, 2025 10:18 PM

He was a far better Howard Hughes on that miniseries than DiCaprio was in THE AVIATOR. Hughes was known to be sexy. Jones is sexy. DiCaprio isn't.

by Anonymousreply 3September 20, 2025 10:29 PM

He was on "One Life to Live."

Lonesome Dove

The Charlie’s Angels pilot.

I've only seen 3 of those movies.

He was Nancy's love interest in an episode of Family, who makes her realize she doesn't want to marry the prof played by David Hedison.

Dr. Mark Toland

R1, I think they were actually roommates in college.

Harvard poker player

by Anonymousreply 11September 21, 2025 3:07 AM

R2 a myth. He roomed with Oliver Barrett IV

Jones entered Harvard College in 1965 on need-based aid.[8] As an upperclassman, he lived in Dunster House[8] and was roommates with future U.S. vice president Al Gore and with Bob Somerby, who later became editor of the media criticism site The Daily Howler....

One Life to Live. Remember that soap?

by Anonymousreply 14September 21, 2025 3:21 AM

When he did The Fugitive, Harrison Ford was looking forward to it and thought they'd have fun. That didn't happen because Jones acted as though he was entitled to be the star of the movie. What a jerk.

Eyes of Laura Mars

by Anonymousreply 16September 21, 2025 3:37 AM

Samuel Gerrard in "The Fugitive", blew me away.

by Anonymousreply 17September 21, 2025 3:40 AM

He would have been a good Jack in "The Shining".

by Anonymousreply 18September 21, 2025 4:03 AM

I loved as Doo.

I’ve heard he’s a nightmare in real life and on set.

by Anonymousreply 19September 21, 2025 4:24 AM

I have my love to Lonesome Dove, but he was very funny in JFK.

He was excellent in The Fugitive. (Yeah, yeah, Fiennes and Kingsley were more outstanding.)

by Anonymousreply 20September 21, 2025 5:18 AM

I didn’t know he was roommates with Bob Somerby, R13! I love The Daily Howler.

by Anonymousreply 21September 21, 2025 7:07 AM

Friday Night Lights

by Anonymousreply 22September 21, 2025 7:10 AM

Gerard and Bell are my number one and two. But my third fav Tommy Lee performance isn’t on the list: William Strannix in Under Siege, one of the few times he ever played a villain.

I was always distracted by his acne scars. They were way more noticeable on One Life To Live, obviously.

by Anonymousreply 28September 21, 2025 5:52 PM

I think he is "difficult" because he demands a certain level of quality and professionalism.

by Anonymousreply 29September 21, 2025 6:18 PM

Like every other Dunster House asshole!

by Anonymousreply 30September 21, 2025 6:26 PM

[quote] [R22] that was Billy Bob Thornton

I always get the two of them confused. Also, I get Chris Evans and Chris Pratt confused.

by Anonymousreply 31September 21, 2025 6:31 PM

Special mention of "The Executioners Song" - 1982. Story about serial killer, Gary Gilmore.

Jones took home an Emmy that year.

by Anonymousreply 32September 21, 2025 9:16 PM

R31; Fat Pratt is a Trump sucking MAGA.

Quite the opposite from the hunky Chris Evans
