Have you canceled Hulu/Disney yet?

Or know anyone who has?

by Anonymousreply 168September 22, 2025 2:42 PM

Yes. I canceled today. Switched from Hulu Live to YouTube TV.

They're running a special to entice people to switch: $49.99/month for the first two months.

Fuck those Disney cowards.

by Anonymousreply 1September 20, 2025 4:46 AM

I didn't have 'em, but a friend of mine who is a major Disney fanatic canceled hers. I just saw online that a lot of people have.

by Anonymousreply 2September 20, 2025 4:46 AM

Yes, I canceled Hulu. I did not get Disney.

by Anonymousreply 3September 20, 2025 4:47 AM

I hope enough people do so I don’t have to. Hulu is like the mafia when you try to leave.

by Anonymousreply 4September 20, 2025 4:47 AM

Some good news.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 5September 20, 2025 4:48 AM

I don't have either, but did have Hulu at one point.

I'm damn sure not going to give my money to them anytime soon.

by Anonymousreply 6September 20, 2025 4:53 AM

Did it today.

Fuck them.

If they all end up capitulating I will get to read a lot more books.

by Anonymousreply 7September 20, 2025 5:07 AM

I canceled both yesterday. Didn’t expect many would do so but I gather a fair number of people have.

by Anonymousreply 8September 20, 2025 5:17 AM

Next step, with the money you're now saving, sign up for the PBS app to stream shows and docs for $5 a month.

by Anonymousreply 9September 20, 2025 5:21 AM

Cancelled Hulu, gladly. Had the cheaper subscription and therefore was bombarded with ads. Fuck them. And I got a premium PBS membership $65 for a year.

by Anonymousreply 10September 20, 2025 5:23 AM

No, and I'm not intending to. First reason: I’m not a star, or a creative, or a “major industry figure,” per the attachment at r5. Second, H'wood/TV industry figures claiming to be warriors for freedom of expression? Please. Third, I've lost track of all the companies & products I’ve boycotted, beginning with California table grapes in the 70s. Not one single boycott has announced an official end to itself and we all go on boycotting the thing long after the dispute is over. Nobody ever says, all good you can buy table grapes now.

Fourth, I’ve never even watched Jimmy Kimmel, and fifth, it was well known that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was on life support and on its way out anyway. Sixth, if I were going to boycott Hulu, there've been plenty of better reasons to do so besides their execs responding to pressure by ABC affiliate TV stations and the FCC.

Have at it, though.

by Anonymousreply 11September 20, 2025 5:38 AM

For someone who doesn't give a shit about free speech r11 , you sure use a lot of it.

by Anonymousreply 12September 20, 2025 5:42 AM

Happily cancelled Hulu!

by Anonymousreply 13September 20, 2025 5:43 AM

Hulu, yes. Today. Never had Disney+ nor cared to.

by Anonymousreply 14September 20, 2025 5:45 AM

Yes I cancelled everything Disney yesterday. This is the second time they've capitulated to Trump instead of standing up to him and saying no. So if Disney and its various companies want to help Trump destroy the US then they can do it without my money or me as a customer. If they ever have anything I want to watch in future then I will torrent download whatever it is. They don't have much these days anyway.

The bottom line is that by capitulating twice - they are helping Trump by reinforcing his imagined power and sending a clear message to other media companies and entertainers - and if fact all businesses in the US. They are pre-surrendering. I can't respect that.

by Anonymousreply 15September 20, 2025 5:58 AM

Forgot to add - I've never watched Jimmy Kimmel and will never. My decision to cancel was based on Bob Iger's/Disney's decision to bend over and present hole AGAIN, instead of saying just saying no and we'll see you in court.

by Anonymousreply 16September 20, 2025 6:01 AM

[quote]For someone who doesn't give a shit about free speech [R11] , you sure use a lot of it.

Good one r12. And who said I don’t give a shit about free speech? As you point out, I’m all in favor.

by Anonymousreply 17September 20, 2025 6:30 AM

Disney was always stupid to me anyway.

by Anonymousreply 18September 20, 2025 6:37 AM

We were using Hulu Live instead of cable (with DVR and the Disney+/ESPN+ bundle and HBO Max add-on). $113 per month. When I canceled I wrote “capitulating to fascism” as the reason.

We switched to YouTube TV.

by Anonymousreply 19September 20, 2025 6:53 AM

I canceled and got the PBS subscription as well. Hulu/Disney/ESPN/HBO Max are aggressively marketing discounts on FB, so they must be feeling it. I will not re-subscribe unless Disney grows a pair, which is unlikely to happen soon. Dozens of friends on FB have posted their cancelations, even ones who I would consider to be apolitical or at least very quiet about politics. I think this boycott has legs.

by Anonymousreply 20September 20, 2025 7:25 AM

Cancelled Disney+ here. If you choose ‘other’ in their list of reasons, you can write a comment why. I wrote ‘Because of your support of authoritarianism’.

by Anonymousreply 21September 20, 2025 7:52 AM

I wasn't a subscriber to either one. Almost wish I had been so I could cancel with as much eloquence as some of you. Bravo.

by Anonymousreply 22September 20, 2025 9:20 AM

Sign up now for a free trial and then cancel it R22!

by Anonymousreply 23September 20, 2025 9:33 AM

I cancelled, but did I cancel? My experience is that Disney continues to bill two months after cancelation and only refunds after I enter their app, visit their website, google how to cancel subscriptions, look in Apple Settings for subscriptions, ask reddit how to cancel subscriptions.

Disney started as a sticky subscription service. I feel they are the Wells Fargo of media companies.

by Anonymousreply 24September 20, 2025 9:51 AM

I'm considering it r23.

by Anonymousreply 25September 20, 2025 10:05 AM

Cancelled Hulu (never had Disney +). Fuck them.

by Anonymousreply 26September 20, 2025 10:05 AM

Yes, cancelled them. Wasn't anything good on them anyhow.

by Anonymousreply 27September 20, 2025 10:12 AM

I canceled on Thursday.

by Anonymousreply 28September 20, 2025 10:21 AM

When I heard the site was down I figured there was a rush on cancelations

by Anonymousreply 29September 20, 2025 10:31 AM

Yes canceled Disney+ and Hulu on Thursday, signed up for PBS Passport that night.

by Anonymousreply 30September 20, 2025 11:08 AM

I never pay for movies or TV.

That's what my antenna and VPN are for.

by Anonymousreply 31September 20, 2025 11:33 AM

Yes, and I was surprised as this isn't a boycotting type but they said they didn't watch it that much anyway.

by Anonymousreply 32September 20, 2025 11:33 AM

I cancelled Hulu and Disney. It’s not like Only Murders in the Building has gotten anyone hooked this season anyway.

by Anonymousreply 33September 20, 2025 11:46 AM

Yes, we did.

by Anonymousreply 34September 20, 2025 11:49 AM

Yes, canceled my Disney+/Hulu/HBO Max bundle, the latter of which I’ll pick back up when my month runs out. Money is the only motivator in corporate America anymore. In times like this, you have to live your values. There’s talk of an overall economic boycott to tank the economy, to express everyone’s anger with the direction the country is headed. I used to admire Bob Iger. No more. In my fantasy, ABC goes streaming only (which the FCC has no control over) and completely fucks Sinclair and Nextstar stations. It sounds like the consumer boycott, including canceled cruises and vacations, is making an impression.

by Anonymousreply 35September 20, 2025 11:52 AM

canceled disney + hulu + hbo

also peacock & paramount

by Anonymousreply 36September 20, 2025 12:04 PM

Yep, I cancelled the night that Kimmel was silenced.

by Anonymousreply 37September 20, 2025 12:30 PM

Canceled Hulu Live TV/ HBO Max package the night Kimmel was pulled. Went back to SlingTV Orange/Blue with 2 add-on channel groups and HBO Max. It costs me less. And fuck Disney.

by Anonymousreply 38September 20, 2025 12:31 PM

Agatha All Along is so good on Disney

by Anonymousreply 40September 20, 2025 12:35 PM

[quote] I’m not a facile-minded knee-jerk sheep

There are other kinds.

by Anonymousreply 41September 20, 2025 12:45 PM

Well, you can’t explain political activism to a narcissist.

by Anonymousreply 42September 20, 2025 12:48 PM

I don't have any Disney, I canceled Peacock for the shit stream it is, and I will not sub to Paramount.

But I have noticed a flood of ads for Disney products in my FB stream.

I am blocking every attempt to get me to sign up for a Disney Product.

BLOCK!

by Anonymousreply 43September 20, 2025 12:51 PM

I cancelled the Disney+/Hulu/HBO Max bundle, which was mostly paid by my credit card's monthly streaming reimbursement.

Now that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ended its crappy penultimate season, my free Paramount account from my Walmart+ subscription benefit will be transferred to Peacock.

Note, cancelling ad-based subscriptions hurts these providers more than cancelling fully paid, non advertiser subsidized subscriptions.

I've also written the two local Nexstar and Sinclair network affiliates to tell them I refuse to watch their channels any longer.

by Anonymousreply 44September 20, 2025 1:03 PM

R39 Ah, you're the kinda of sheep that likes to get fucked up the ass instead, well stay lubed my friend.

by Anonymousreply 45September 20, 2025 1:05 PM

I canceled Hulu this morning.

by Anonymousreply 46September 20, 2025 1:09 PM

The Hulu/Disney cancellation webpage has crashed due to all the cancellations. LOL LOL LOL

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 47September 20, 2025 8:03 PM

It may be Disney fucking around with their cancellation system to slow down cancellations, but there's also many reports that this boycott has now spread to other countries like Canada and UK.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

by Anonymousreply 48September 20, 2025 8:15 PM

Ignoramus here: I'm happy to cancel Disney, but does that mean I will cancel Hulu too (yeah, I know I should cancel both but one step at a time)

by Anonymousreply 49September 20, 2025 8:15 PM

R12, I read r11's post at least 13 times, and nowhere was there a hint of being anti free speech. They're just not into all the boycotts we're supposed to be partaking in.

In about six month's time, all of you have canceled (knee jerk reaction), please come back to this post and tell us how you re-instated your Hulu/Disney+/Peacock/HBO Max subscriptions. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 50September 20, 2025 8:18 PM

I wonder how long it will take Disney to reinstate Kimmel? LOL

by Anonymousreply 51September 20, 2025 8:23 PM

Super easy decision — canceled

by Anonymousreply 52September 20, 2025 8:29 PM

I have an annual subscription that I just renewed not that long ago 🥴

by Anonymousreply 53September 20, 2025 8:52 PM

r11 and r50 - we got it already, you decided not to cancel. You can move along now.

Or go eat your table grapes, as you keep saying (because you're undoubtedly the same poster).

by Anonymousreply 54September 20, 2025 8:54 PM

Some people are taking a more violent approach.

by Anonymousreply 55September 20, 2025 8:54 PM

I've cancelled Hulu several times, Disney once when I realized they had none of the classic films from the past I wanted to watch again. I'm getting ready to cancel Hulu again after the massive disappointment of Alien: Earth.

by Anonymousreply 56September 20, 2025 8:56 PM

[quote] Hulu is like the mafia when you try to leave.

No it's not, it's easy to leave Hulu.

by Anonymousreply 57September 20, 2025 8:58 PM

Walt must be turning over in his fridge.

by Anonymousreply 58September 20, 2025 9:09 PM

This is big. It's Comcast, Hulu, HBO, ABC, etc. etc. etc. You almost have to walk away from all of them and get onto some other high speed internet and steaming platform. My sister cancelled Hulu but I didn't. I have HBO and Hulu but no Disney. I never watch ABC.

by Anonymousreply 59September 20, 2025 9:09 PM

For the confused bitter Eldergay crowd here - Thank you AI for reminding us that boycotts are not magic wands that change everything overnight:

The California table grape boycott led to union contracts for farmworkers, granting them higher wages, better benefits, and improved working conditions like access to toilets and water, and the prohibition of harsh tools. The boycott also helped pass legislation, such as the California Agricultural Labor Relations Act (ALRA) of 1975, and sparked the growth of the Chicano movement, leading to increased Latino political engagement. The successful strike and boycott transformed the labor landscape for farmworkers nationwide and served as a model for future worker organizing.

by Anonymousreply 60September 20, 2025 9:24 PM

Apparently, Disney wants to buy Fubo -- the sports streaming platform, so they are afraid of standing up to Trump. I say fuck them. Disney does have power to take on Trump but choose not to. I have hulu and espn. I might cancel. Only show I watch on hulu is general hospital. And I haven't watched espn this year--- I only stream it for college football.

by Anonymousreply 61September 20, 2025 9:30 PM

Cancelled on Thursday. It was easy and felt great!

by Anonymousreply 62September 20, 2025 9:32 PM

Boycott my ass. I will continue to watch any platform that gives me what I want.

by Anonymousreply 63September 20, 2025 9:37 PM

[quote] six month's time, all of you have canceled (knee jerk reaction), please come back to this post and tell us how you re-instated your Hulu/Disney+/Peacock/HBO Max subscriptions

Not likely. I went cold turkey on Target and Twitter, and haven't been back.

Is it because I'm such a committed activist? No, I just found replacements and they're now part of my new routine..

by Anonymousreply 64September 20, 2025 9:39 PM

Thank you for stating your boundaries r63 which begin and end with you.

But everyone knew that already.

by Anonymousreply 65September 20, 2025 9:41 PM

Okay, R64, you get the Platinum Woke Medal, dispensing justice one cancelation at a time. Please send us a picture of you wearing it.

by Anonymousreply 66September 20, 2025 9:42 PM

[quote]Boycott my ass.

I'm sure most men have done so.

by Anonymousreply 67September 20, 2025 9:45 PM

And boy was I relieved.

by Anonymousreply 68September 20, 2025 9:48 PM

I still think we need to go after Sinclair and Nexstar. They own groups/bundles of local affiliates. There was a rule limiting how many affiliates any company could own, and the rule was waived for Sinclair I think.

by Anonymousreply 69September 20, 2025 9:53 PM

No, because I would need to subscribe first. That could be construed by some idiot executives at the company as "hey, someone supports the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel", so fuck no.

by Anonymousreply 70September 20, 2025 9:57 PM

Canceled Hulu/Disney+. Wonder if we’ll ever know how many subscribers canceled since the Kimmel suspension.

by Anonymousreply 71September 20, 2025 10:02 PM

I am going to sign up and immediately cancel. Fuck them.

by Anonymousreply 72September 20, 2025 10:11 PM

Disney will have to report their current streaming subscriber numbers during their next quarterly earnings report around Nov 13.

by Anonymousreply 73September 20, 2025 10:22 PM

r66, there's DL 's premium brand of bitchy and then there's just plain pissy irritability.

by Anonymousreply 74September 20, 2025 10:23 PM

r71 A news outlet got inside info on how many people canceled their Washington Post subscriptions back when people were doing that. Hopefully someone from inside hulu/disnety will leak that info. Cause Disney will never give it out of course.

by Anonymousreply 75September 20, 2025 10:24 PM

Never had it.

by Anonymousreply 76September 20, 2025 10:32 PM

Now we need for Frays to not renew their Magic Kingdom subscriptions.

by Anonymousreply 77September 20, 2025 11:10 PM

I get the "with commercials" version for free from T-Mobil. I'm not sure my gesture would do much.

Plus I'm appearing on a Hulu show later this month and I want to see how I look!

by Anonymousreply 78September 20, 2025 11:35 PM

Cancelled Hulu and Disney today. Why cancel HBO? They’re not part of ABC.

by Anonymousreply 79September 20, 2025 11:38 PM

Re-sign up for HBO Max outside of the Hulu/Disney bundle. WB hasn't tried to sell out our First Amendment Rights (YET!)

by Anonymousreply 80September 20, 2025 11:44 PM

I just checked around, nothing compares to the HULU tv ad free package, not Direct TV, Sling or any of the others. Would miss Steve Martin and Martin Short too much on Only Murders in the Building.

by Anonymousreply 81September 20, 2025 11:56 PM

r81, will your subscription transfer to the internment camp? I really missed Jack Benny at Bergen-Belsen.

by Anonymousreply 82September 20, 2025 11:58 PM

Yes, canceled them this afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 83September 21, 2025 12:00 AM

Cancelled Hulu years ago - never watched it.

Never had Disney and I sold all of my stock when they caved the first time. Fuck them. I bought NVIDIA instead.

by Anonymousreply 84September 21, 2025 12:26 AM

Go choke on a California table grape r81

by Anonymousreply 85September 21, 2025 12:27 AM

Can i keep my you tube tv on the phone? So convenient!

by Anonymousreply 86September 21, 2025 12:36 AM

Dancing with the Stars was enticing me to get Hulu. But I'm gonna pass. I'll just keep on watching Hell's Kitchen reruns on YouTube Premium.

by Anonymousreply 87September 21, 2025 12:37 AM

I did. SO many shows I’ll miss. But it isn’t worth our Constitution.

by Anonymousreply 88September 21, 2025 12:39 AM

I'll miss Marvel and Star Wars shows, but I'll miss Free Speech even more.

by Anonymousreply 89September 21, 2025 12:42 AM

Canceled Hulu. D+ is a freebie thru Verizon, so I don’t know how to get rid of it. I have a Marvel Unlimited subscription, but that runs for a year, so I don’t know if I’ll use it again. Had a trip to Disneyland coming up for October. Tickets non-refundable, so might still go, but limiting purchases to bare minimum. No merch.

by Anonymousreply 90September 21, 2025 12:49 AM

[quote]I wonder how long it will take Disney to reinstate Kimmel? LOL

The damage is already done R58.

by Anonymousreply 91September 21, 2025 3:36 AM

I saw a great comment on a podcast today. It was:

"I can live without Disney. I can't live without democracy".

by Anonymousreply 92September 21, 2025 3:37 AM

I haven't subscribed to those channels.

by Anonymousreply 93September 21, 2025 3:38 AM

Also PLEASE call your local ABC Affiliate and tell them how pissed off you are.

by Anonymousreply 94September 21, 2025 4:17 AM

Yes, I canceled Hulu hours after the Kimmel news broke.

by Anonymousreply 95September 21, 2025 4:19 AM

Like someone above said, I am boycotting Nexstar and Sinclair stations. They are the real villains.

by Anonymousreply 96September 21, 2025 6:58 AM

I canceled Netflix. they gave me a good price and then it kept going up,

by Anonymousreply 97September 21, 2025 7:30 AM

I fucking hate Disney anything. Years ago when I lived in the U.S. I had Hulu, but only briefly; now it's not available to me, but there are better ways to see TV

by Anonymousreply 98September 21, 2025 9:55 AM

Jimmy Kimmel cancellation to prison camp for people who don't cancel Hulu, ok Jan. Good to know.

by Anonymousreply 99September 21, 2025 10:42 AM

R76, moi aussi.

I consider premium cable channels little more than a con game. They play the same shows 10 times a week. I stopped subscribing to them over 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 100September 21, 2025 10:51 AM

Hardly the real villians r96. While the Nexstar and Sinclair stations are evil and greedy and also deserve boycotts, they are only pawns in the knee to the neck that the Trump administration is applying to Disney.

And since Disney has decided they will now also present hole, they are worthless to us.

by Anonymousreply 101September 21, 2025 11:00 AM

Yep. Cancelled my Hulu/Disney bundle. Fuck ‘em all & let God sort ‘em out.

by Anonymousreply 102September 21, 2025 11:09 AM

Canceling subscriptions won't matter unless people also boycott Disneyland and Disneyworld en masse.

by Anonymousreply 103September 21, 2025 11:26 AM

R103 At this pace, soon very few people will be able to afford Disney parks.

by Anonymousreply 104September 21, 2025 11:43 AM

You may also want to pay attention to who owns the local networks. Nexstar started this mess - Sinclair is right up there too. I am pissed the Nexstar is purchasing the Tegna group of stations. Tegna has been fairly liberal with clearly stated diversity policies. I guess that goes away...

You may also want to be boycotting the local station ownerships! And it keeps getting harder!

by Anonymousreply 105September 21, 2025 11:51 AM

The real question is: Has Jimmy Kimmel canceled HIS subscriptions to Hulu/Disney+?

I'm sure his kids enjoy watching Disney shit.

by Anonymousreply 106September 21, 2025 12:08 PM

Show of hands:

How many have purged your homes of tacky, over-priced, Disney licensed merch? Even the "collector's" item crap.

How many of you have canceled your plans to attend Disney Gay Days next June?

How many of you have canceled any upcoming bookings on Disney Cruises?

How many of you wil REFUSE to watch any upcoming Marvel franchise movies?

by Anonymousreply 107September 21, 2025 12:41 PM

Long ago

by Anonymousreply 108September 21, 2025 12:44 PM

I was sorry I watched the last few Marvel franchise movies, even before this. But for different reasons.

by Anonymousreply 109September 21, 2025 1:52 PM

Good heavens, I hope no one has Disney collectibles or merch their home regardless

by Anonymousreply 110September 21, 2025 2:37 PM

There are lots of ads offering subscriptions to Disney+ and Hulu on Facebook. And every one of them has disabled comments.

by Anonymousreply 111September 21, 2025 3:15 PM

r107 These kinds of things never work.

How many gays still take cruises to or visit homophobic countries (e.g., in the Caribbean)? Or shopa at Chick-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby? Or buy Goya products? Many more than you think, and even one is many more than should. Personal pleasure and benefit often outweigh doing what's "right."

by Anonymousreply 112September 21, 2025 3:25 PM

You're unfortunately right, 112. Much of this smacks of virtue signa)ing.

by Anonymousreply 113September 21, 2025 3:27 PM

This is why I have no qualms about using torrents. Through a vpn, of course.

by Anonymousreply 114September 21, 2025 3:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 117September 21, 2025 3:47 PM

You can call it a boycott and claim "these things never work," but some of us just don't want to give our money to companies like this. Sure, I canceled Hulu in response to this news, but I've also been absent from Amazon anything, Google anything, and Facebook for probably 15-20 years because was disgusted by how powerful they are and didn't want to be a willing pawn in their systems. Walmart for much longer than that, maybe 30 years. Whole foodsfor a couple of years. I've shunned Instagram (deleted my account) and Target since about 6 months ago, once I noticed they were palling around/capitulating to the incoming regime.

I would like it to serve as a statement to these mega corporations, but I know it doesn't. I do it for myself and my conscience. I don't need any consumer crap or entertainment that much.

by Anonymousreply 118September 21, 2025 3:47 PM

R92 = Ben Franklin

by Anonymousreply 119September 21, 2025 3:48 PM

R118, diaing in from the public library.

by Anonymousreply 120September 21, 2025 3:50 PM

Not sure how true it is, but I read online that a lot of people have canceled or have yet to book their 'Disney Vacation' for Christmas break and February School Vacation. It's saying prices for both go up on October 1, so most people book at the lower rates through Sept 30. Those who have already booked, had decided to cancel. Others have not booked at all. Sounds like the pandemic all over again for Disney.

Makes me wonder of Disney will keep prices low through October now, just to fill their reservations ?

by Anonymousreply 121September 21, 2025 3:57 PM

Not yet, but probably soon. It comes out of my partner's business, and we haven't discussed it yet. We won't cancel until he's watched Wednesday. Our friends cancelled the other day. My best friend's works for Disney (sales manager? currently in Norway one a work trip), so when I see him next time, I'll let him know that anecdotally, Disney is sinking fast. It will be difficult to have any conversation about it. Disney was his dream job, and he loves the company. However, I won't see him for a few weeks anyway.

Boycotts do work if it hits their bottom line. Losing just 5% of subscribers would be a huge hit to their revenue.

by Anonymousreply 122September 21, 2025 4:14 PM

Presumably Disneyworld in Florida will suffer this Xmas from reduced foreign tourism.

by Anonymousreply 123September 21, 2025 4:21 PM

[quote] These kinds of things never work.

That's right, you tell them, R112. Boycotts don't work so you should really just come back to Targ, ummm, shop as you normally would. It's much easier that way.

by Anonymousreply 124September 21, 2025 4:37 PM

I did it the day after Jimmy's show went off the air.

I still have Netflix (which has been releasing excellent documentaries lately), and I have HBO Max which has a lot of great sitcoms.

by Anonymousreply 125September 21, 2025 4:40 PM

One good thing about one major company taking a huge hit, other than them being punished for their actions, is that other major companies will thick twice about the repercussions of kowtowing. The bottom line IS the only thing that matters. So this is not just against Hulu, it's also to let the other companies know - you better not... And I think a lot of companies, up until now, are taking their customers for granted, underestimating their power.

It will be interesting to see how this affects Disney long term.

The foundation of their brand is good vs evil stories. Taking Kimmel off the air is so shockingly off brand, it's hard to imagine it not changing Disney for a long time.

These aren't the Walt days anymore, people have a lot more places to go for entertainment.

by Anonymousreply 127September 21, 2025 5:05 PM

R120, yes, you're so much cooler in your choice of apps. 🥺

by Anonymousreply 128September 21, 2025 5:38 PM

Disney lost a lot of Republicans when DeSantis went after them for being pro LGBT. Then the religious nut jobs swore boycotts and pointed to Disney's promotion of witchcraft and black magic (LOL...only God and Jesus are allowed to perform magic).

Those people probably still won't come back. Once they boycott a company, they hold a grudge forever. So now Disney lost Republicans a few years ago, and now they've lost a lot of democrats too.

They fucked up worse than wishy-washy target, which is on its way to years-low numbers.

Some of you are posting that your Social media has been flooded with deals from Hulu since the other day. I haven't gotten any on my sm pages. Can anyone link to some of the deals being offered? I'm curious about what the deal is for HuluLive compared to their usual $83 rate.

by Anonymousreply 131September 21, 2025 6:47 PM

Hey you at R107 et al. You don't seem to have a real point except to accuse people of hypocrisy with no evidence and to stand on the side of censorship. How nice for you.

For the record for you, since you're certainly not a cunt:

How many have purged your homes of tacky, over-priced, Disney licensed merch? Even the "collector's" item crap.

I have none, bitch.

How many of you have canceled your plans to attend Disney Gay Days next June?

I don't do Disney tourist attractions.

How many of you have canceled any upcoming bookings on Disney Cruises?

I would never go on a cruise like that, Disney or otherwise.

How many of you wil REFUSE to watch any upcoming Marvel franchise movies?

I have been refusing to see any of those cynical and bloated messes since I saw the first one, bitch.

I supported Disney in its fight against Republican attacks on it for its pro-gay positions (a smart market to include), but selective courage is no badge of courage. Kowtowing to fascists hurts everyone.

A close reading of your posts shows that you're more of a hypocrite than are the people you shit on for seeing the problem with massive corporations falling in line with a minority fascist regime gutting the rest of the Constitution while distorting the Second Amendment, and then shitting itself when a gun nut is criminally and disgustingly shot as said regime lies about who is responsible and stages a Nuremberg rally fundraiser as a foil for a "memorial."

A long sentence. Like what was taken away from so many 1/6 criminals who now are "heroes."

Get your arguments straight if you're going to presume to the high ground, because you're standing in a sinkhole at this point.

by Anonymousreply 132September 21, 2025 7:52 PM

Did all of the boycott naysayers here just completely sleep through this whole year? Target? TESLA?? The "buy Canadian" movement? Boycotts are actually pretty much the ONLY way to get corporations to pay attention. Money is all that matters.

by Anonymousreply 133September 21, 2025 9:26 PM

Um, yeah.. it is not about being original, it’s about playing with new gui

by Anonymousreply 134September 21, 2025 10:03 PM

Cancelled Hulu this morning. Never had Disney. Thrilled to see all these cancellations. I hope they write about it in the press.

by Anonymousreply 135September 21, 2025 10:11 PM

R135, I cancelled today as well.

by Anonymousreply 136September 21, 2025 10:13 PM

It is all over the press. Did anyone notice the $2.99 for 6 months offer as you were leaving. Ha!

by Anonymousreply 137September 21, 2025 10:16 PM

r137, I didn't get that offer. they must have saved that one for when they began to feel desperate..

by Anonymousreply 138September 21, 2025 10:21 PM

R137, I got the $2.99 offer but breezed right through it and canceled without hesitation.

by Anonymousreply 139September 21, 2025 10:28 PM

If I thought anything would come of the latest boycott of something, I might do it. But it won't. It's like the news cycle. People will yell and scream about it for a bit, and then it'll fade away just like every noteworthy thing does.

by Anonymousreply 140September 21, 2025 10:54 PM

Unfortunately, people like R11 don't even understand what's at stake with a corporation bowing to the pressure from the government to censor content. Even Ted Cruz thinks it's a terrible thing.

by Anonymousreply 141September 21, 2025 11:05 PM

Did r140 pass out again before he could type up his long list of actions that we could all take that he thinks could work?

Maybe when he regains consciousness he'll realize where corporations get their money from.

by Anonymousreply 142September 21, 2025 11:34 PM

Your response doesn't make much sense R142. I didn't type up a list of actions we could all take that could work, because I don't think there is one. I know where corporations get their money. How many boycotts have done much of anything? Bud Lite? Yeah I guess. But that company is no danger of collapsing.

by Anonymousreply 143September 21, 2025 11:43 PM

It's about making a statement r142.

Mine is to no longer economically support a company that I believe does not support my right to free speech. Your statement is to present hole, which thankfully, is still your right in this country.

by Anonymousreply 144September 21, 2025 11:53 PM

if we all thought and acted as r140 does, nothing would ever change in the world. It also reminds me of this:

[quote] There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

[quote] Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

[quote] Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.

[quote] Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.

[quote] It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

by Anonymousreply 145September 22, 2025 12:05 AM

R114 Which trackers do you use?

I’ve give up on Pirate Bay. I still use 1337xx.to for most media and myanonamouse.net for ebooks.

Anyone else use an IPTV service? I use NeroIPTV, plus I fall back on a USENET service for some easy quick media grabs, too.

*not even funny

by Anonymousreply 151September 22, 2025 1:08 AM

r151, the point is that SOME PEOPLE like his show, because Disney would have cancelled his show long before now if they didn't. There used to be a time when the Rescumlicans were all about "let's have the market decide instead of Big Gubmint". They've turned 180 degrees on that.

by Anonymousreply 152September 22, 2025 1:15 AM

Is r150 trying to say that it would be a greater assault on our free speech rights if they thought Kimmel was funny?

I'm now realizing more how we all got to this place.

by Anonymousreply 153September 22, 2025 1:19 AM

Why do people on this thread keep saying HBO is part of the Disney/Hulu network?

HBO/Max has nothing to do with the Disney Company. It is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, a separate company.

Just cancelled my Hulu but there was no "other" option to tell them why, the only choices were

But if you must, can you tell us the main reason why? Survey Options

Technical issues (buffering, devices, features)

Due to personal reasons (life change)

Payment or other account issues

It's temporary, I'll be back

I don't like ads

Cost is too expensive

Content availability (shows, movies or sports not available)

I'm using other services

I was only paying 99 cents a month for Hulu, it was a one year deal for Hulu for 99 cents a month for a year, pretty good deal but it was going up in November to the regular price, I don't think I have even watched it this month.

by Anonymousreply 156September 22, 2025 1:41 AM

Disney now offers a Hulu/Disney+/HBO Max bundle, which makes it seem like they are all owned by the same company, which they are not.

Those who still would like HBO Max can re-sign up though them.

by Anonymousreply 157September 22, 2025 1:44 AM

R156 HA! They must have JUST changed that today because they were getting fed up with all the comments being submitted. Yesterday, when I canceled mine, the 'other' option was still there.

by Anonymousreply 158September 22, 2025 1:45 AM

Once I finish watching Designing Women in 4K. I’ve waited a lifetime and begged for a proper remaster. I’ve finally gotten it.

I’ll boycott afterwards.

If people were buying a Disney package that included HBO/Max, Disney was getting some financial benefit out of that, they were not offering their competitors service without getting some money out of it.

R159 Understandable.

For what it's worth, of you just paid your Hulu bill, it will let you keep watching for another month even after you cancel.

by Anonymousreply 163September 22, 2025 1:48 AM

[quote] [R156] HA! They must have JUST changed that today because they were getting fed up with all the comments being submitted. Yesterday, when I canceled mine, the 'other' option was still there.

I guess the 99 cents I was paying wasn't enough to get the complaint option.
