Do you like mob / gangster movies? šŸŽ„

I like some, like Godfather 1 and 2 and Casino, Carlito’s Way. Others leave me cold like Goodfellas, the Irishman, and Scarface.

Hate most of them. They portray a suffocating lifestyle off no interest to me and the misogyny and violence are turn offs.

Some good ones, a few great ones, but there was a time when there were too many. Scorcese is a talented director but he went to the well too many times.

But I'll take them over super hero movies.

If Goodfellas leaves you cold, you don’t like gangster movies, OP.

R3 Right? Goodfellas is a masterpiece.

I liked the studio era gangster pictures: Little Caesar, Public Enemy, and the original Scarface with Paul Muni. They portrayed gangsters as creepy and nasty and not very bright. I was never comfortable with the Coppola-Scorsese-De Palma approach that made them into glamorous badass antiheroes.

No, that's a genre I actively avoid.

I like ā€œThe Departedā€ (despite a weirdly awful Jack Nicholson performance.)

I like The Godfather 1 &2 and Goodfellas. I read the Nicholas Pileggi book first and I thought the film did a good job. The first Godfather was a masterpiece in filmmaking.
