Helen Hunt/Leelee Sobiesky

Julia Stiles, Leelee Sobieski, and Kirsten Dunst could star in My Shiksa Goddesses.

It's been mentioned previously. Donald Trump and any random orangutan. Now more than ever.

I've always thought Frances Fisher and Judy Greer could very believably play mother and daughter.

R29 Ooh, that's good! I was trying to think of who could believably be paired with Aniston as a sister because she has such a unique face, and the best I could come up with is Kristin Wiig. Tierney is much better because of the voice.

I know. BUT, OP doesn't speculate they can't already be genetically related. And having recently seen Midnight Cowboy, it was quite alarming to me how much they do actually look alike. I hadn't previously noticed the resemblance,

No, r19, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Elizabeth Banks and Rachel McAdams look like a “separated at birth?” Insert in Spy Magazine.

Also Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen could be cast as siblings!!!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 19, 2025 9:48 PM |
Separated at Birth would have made for a much better thread topic — frankly I’m not sure why DL never had one…that would be thread #158 by now.

R49 With family casting you also have to keep in mind age, similar speech patterns/accents, and comparable acting abilities which makes for a more interesting challenge.

CATE BLANCHETT (mother) and TYE SHERIDAN (son)
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 19, 2025 10:22 PM |
^ Not that most casting directors can ever be assed to do that (for example, the truly inspired casting of twinsies, Claire Danes and SJP).
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 19, 2025 10:23 PM |
Rory Culkin should play the son of Emilio Estevez. I think there is a resemblance.

Vera Farmiga and Patricia Arquette have David Bowie's teeth.

I don't think they look alike at all (Farmiga and Blanchett).
It would be helpful for people to show their work.

What -siblings can’t have asymmetrical faces?
by Anonymous | reply 82 | September 20, 2025 4:49 AM |
Asymmetrical facial features usually assert themselves in most or all of the offspring.

They are both blonde, though.

Actually, upon looking at your comparison, it occurs to me that Farmiga looks far more similar to Glenn Close.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | September 20, 2025 4:56 AM |
And Blanchett looks more like Tilda Swinton.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | September 20, 2025 5:08 AM |

I still think so.

R88 Just Googled. Yeah, they could definitely believably play sisters.

Julianne Moore in The Parent Trap alongside Lindsey Lohan. NOT Jamie Lee Curtis.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | September 20, 2025 5:18 AM |
I've been trying to think of who could have been a more plausible casting choice as sister of SJP in The Family Stone, and I seriously can't think of anyone--even a male actor that has a face even remotely similar to her.
Mayyybe Daryl Hannah?

Lauren Bacall could play Charlotte Rampling's mother.
Katharine Hepburn could have been Judy Davis's mother, (or grandmother?)
by Anonymous | reply 106 | September 21, 2025 8:55 PM |
Jeremy Allen White does look a lot like Gene Wilder, as mentioned, but since he’s dead, I think William Fichtner could play his father convincingly.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | September 21, 2025 9:07 PM |
Nina Foch and Neva Patterson probably could have played sisters. They didn't look alike but even so.

I’m going to ignore the obvious comparison with Matt Damon- I think Jesse Plemmons should play Jared Harris’ son in something. They’re both good actors and have similar, unique looks. Both have wide, round faces with fair skin and blond hair. I’d like to see it.

Re: R114, when Vivien was selected to play Scarlett in "Gone with the Wind," Hedy had already been a star for a year after her successful US debut in "Algiers." Fans pointed out how Vivien looked very much like Hedy, albeit a miniature version, what with Vivien only being a petite 5'3 to statuesque Hedy's 5'7".
After GWTW, Vivien quickly surpassed Hedy in stature, not physically, but in prominence.

by Anonymous | reply 141 | September 22, 2025 3:59 AM |
Cyd Charisse became middle-aged rather quickly. Not unattractive or matronly, just older. Granted she still looked that way and seemed younger when she was an old bag
