People who are heavily invested in politics cannot see outside of their own world.
If you go back to 2018-2019 when mainstream was still heavily leaning hard into what we’ll simply call “woke culture”, he STILL didn’t make a splash being the first openly gay man to run for President.
People didn’t care he was gay because they didn’t care about him. Even back then, the average person didn’t know who he was.
He was competing with bigger personalities who had bigger viral campaigns whether good or bad. The only thing I can remember was the horrific “High Hopes” dance his campaign made that everyone made fun of.
And he had a negative standing with the black vote because of his time as Mayor in a black populated city.
Kamala would have never been in the running against Trump if the public had voted. She lost last time, she lost this time.
You can’t accuse people of bigotry, especially on the left, because we have a shitty group of people to chose from.
People who live in politics forget how casual voters actually think.
Back in 2018–2019, when “woke politics” was peaking, Pete Buttigieg still didn’t make a splash even as the first openly gay man to run for president. People didn’t care he was gay because they didn’t care about him. Most had no idea who he was.
He was up against bigger names with national followings—Biden, Sanders, Warren. His only viral moment was the embarrassing “High Hopes” dance. And his record as mayor in a majority-Black city killed his chances with Black voters, which made him a nonstarter in key states.
Meanwhile, Biden had name recognition and deep ties to Black voters that Buttigieg couldn’t touch. That’s why Pete flamed out after Iowa and New Hampshire.
As for Kamala lol, if the public had chosen the nominee, she wouldn’t have made it. She lost last time, and she lost again.
It’s not about bigotry. It’s that the Democratic bench has been weak. It’s just like people don’t hate women, Hillary and Kamala were weak candidates. So was Pete.
