Anyone Watch the Netflix Documentary "The Manhattan Alien Abduction?" What Do You Think?
In 1989, 41-year old Linda Napolitano claimed to have been levitated out of her Manhattan apartment and into an alien spacecraft to be experimented on. As outlandish as it sounds, the story becomes more compelling when it appears 23 people witnessed the event and an odd device is found in Linda's nose during a routine x-ray.
But was Linda really just a shrewd, camera-friendly hoax perpetrator? Carol Rainey, filmmaker and wife of UFO investigator Budd Hopkins, started digging and became convinced Linda was a fraud, setting off a bitch fight of epic proportions and destroying Carol's marriage.
What do YOU think, DLers?

Lying hoe. Carol was the victim in this case. May of the testimonials were fabricated. Linda lied about being stalked. The Netflix documentary is very good

The documentary never really pursues the alleged witnesses, except for a couple of them. And why wasn't the odd device ever removed from Linda's nose for examination?
And the whole "kidnapping" thing by the cops, allegedly captured on voice recording by Linda, seemed like something out of a bad spy movie.
Being as Linda was once a promising singer with a big career in front of her who ended up as a nobody housewife tends to convince me she was looking for a path to fame again and took advantage of a very naive Budd Hopkins.

What about Linda's son? Do you think he's in on it with her, or was she able to manipulate him into thinking he had really been abducted, too?

I’ll watch this. Thanks for the recommendation, OP.
I remember this story.
Obviously, Linda is full of shit, but I hope it’ll be a fun watch, nevertheless.

There could have been at least one more episode to this docuseries. As it is, it leaves a lot out.
For instance, why don't they ever talk to the husband for more than a few seconds? He was allegedly there when Linda found herself in the middle of the woods in the Catskills with a bloody nose. Why don't we hear what the husband has to say about that? The only really telling thing he says is that Linda was the "star" in their marriage.
And why does no one ever seem to pursue the identities of "Dan and Richard?" Linda even points to a video of "Dan" on TV, but it seems no one tries to find him.
And what happened after Carol exposed what she thought was a hoax? Did Linda's abductions stop? Did "Dan and Richard" stop trying to kidnap her? We hear nothing about what happened between the early '90s and today, yet when Linda was being put in the spotlight by Budd, something seemed to he happening to her every other day.

I feel sorry for Carol. I think she knew Linda was destroying her husband's credibility and Carol was truly trying to salvage his reputation, even at the cost of her marriage.
