Let's discuss "Adaptation" (2002)

"A lovelorn screenwriter becomes desperate as he tries and fails to adapt 'The Orchid Thief' by Susan Orlean for the screen."

Directed by: Spike Jonze.

Written by: Charlie Kaufman. Based on "The Orchid Thief" by Susan Orlean.

Starring: Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper. Co-starring: Cara Seymour, Brian Cox, Tilda Swinton, Ron Livingston and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

At first glance, it seems kinda slow and tedious with, perhaps too much phylosophical/metaphysical stuff in it. But it's totally exhilarating after the 1st 40 minutes. Chris Cooper totally deserved the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

I guess this film is widely used for academic purposes by people who want to be writers/screenplayers.
