Kirk was a repulsive, disgusting person but I have to agree with Newsom.

This should never happen because it provides a permission structure for anyone with political views who someone else doesn't agree with to be killed.

The very first thing I thought is how this is going to be twisted to either blame the dems or take away some personal liberty we enjoy.

I saw the video of his killing before it started getting blocked on the Internet.

I expected to be shocked and horrified and repulsed, but I felt nothing. While I feel bad for his children, who will forever be scarred by this, the bottom line is that Kirk was a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, hate engendering blowhard who brought nothing of substance to the table.

The world is better off without him.

I gotta say, whoever carried out that assassination did it with some incredible Lee Harvey Oswald-style precision.

I know there aren’t many people on here who use TikTok, but I look at it a lot. This evening as I’m scrolling the feed, almost every video I’m seeing is from young men, a lot of whom don’t ever discuss politics, and they’re bothered by both what happened and about comments they’re reading from people who are celebrating the murder and the loss to his family. It seems to have affected that demographic a lot.

Yeah, I saw three different videos of it. Only one is particularly graphic.

The closer the video the worse it got. It was disturbing.

I hate that people are being stupid enough to give to right ammo.

Charlie Kirk was a sacrifice. There is a huge riff on the extreme right over the Epstein files. And no matter what he did Trump couldn’t shake the dogged pursuit of their release, galvanize his base and get them back on message. Now he can.

For a party known more for their strongly worded letter, it’s quite a jump to think they would use radicalized sharp shooters in Utah to take out the opposition. Is this the second time in a year Trump has used murder to rally people around him?

I wrote a comment to the piece mentioning how Kirk called Paul Pelosi's attacker a patriot on his podcast and solicited funds for the attacker's bail, which Klein failed to mention. The comment hasn't been approved...

But Ross Douthat's column was downright grotesque (even for him) in its whitewashing of Kirk's views. The Right wants to continue to normalize their most egregious rhetoric and this canonization of Kirk is just what they needed to achieve that end.
