Banksy paints mural on Royal Court after 900 arrested for protesting for Palestine

A judge in a wig and gown beats an unarmed protester with a gavel in a new work by Banksy at the Royal Courts of Justice, which has already been covered up. The artwork, which is on an external wall of the Queen’s Building, part of the Royal Courts of Justice complex, has been concealed by large sheets of black plastic and two metal barriers.

The artist confirmed he is responsible for the work with a post on Instagram, showing the graffiti before it was covered over. The latest work comes after almost 900 demonstrators were arrested for protesting against the banning of Palestine Action as a terror group in central London on Saturday. Several others have previously been charged with allegedly expressing support for the group, which was proscribed under anti-terror laws by then-home secretary Yvette Cooper earlier this year.

It's easy to be brave when you hide behind a moniker and do all your "protesting" when no one else is around, except for maybe your well-paid assistants.

Will there be a mural for all those keyboard protestors arrested for posting their opinions online?

The law is ridiculous. The protestors see right through this nonsense. They were arrested just for writing on poster board that they supported this group.

R1, his anonymity means you don't know whether he also protests in person.

Certainly, he could be arrested anytime if sprung while doing his works.

I love Banksy.

R4 I forgot that a lot of people think it's Rob Del Naja from Massive Attack, an amazing group.

Go read the lyrics to Parry's "I Was Glad."

R8, what utter cowards.

It's not his best work, since judges in the UK don't use gavels.

It’s symbolic—if that’s not too difficult for you to comprehend

They’re removing it from the building currently

It’s a great work. The country is just embarrassed that it hits the nail on the head

by Anonymousreply 14September 10, 2025 4:48 PM

Shameful.
