Anyone else on Repatha for high cholesterol?

I tried a few statins but they made me feel like shit.

My doc started me on Repatha injections 2x per month. I took the first injection today in my thigh—it was easy and painless! I took a look at the side effects, however, and didn’t like potential weight gain and cancer.

Anyone else on it?

OP- Why don’t you just change your diet ?

Eliminate cheese, ice cream , butter etc.

R1, you’re totally right. My cholesterol was doing amazingly up until the pandemic. I gained 10 lbs and can’t, for the life of me get rid of the weight. I think I’m eating less and exercising, but it’s not doing much.

I know my cholesterol tracks with my weight. I hope this repatha is temporary

OP, my doctor said it’s notoriously difficult to reduce (bad) cholesterol through changes in diet alone. I don’t know how accurate that is, but it was true in my case.

My bloodwork had repeatedly shown borderline or above cholesterol levels over a two-year period. He wanted to put me on statins at the first sign they were needed, but he was open to waiting and seeing if it made a difference if I changed how I eat.

My diet was always decent. But I’ll admit to loving carbs and having a bit of a sweet tooth. I did a good job of cutting back on all of that. But the effect on my bloodwork was negligible. I agreed to get the prescription. That was about a year and a half ago.

I’m on Atorvastatins. One tiny pill a day. I’ve never experienced any side effects. And almost immediately my cholesterol returned to normal.

I’m assuming I have to keep taking them until I die. That’s ok.

My doc also said that diet can’t change LDL BUT I e personally seen it happen. I became a vegan for about 5 years and, during that period, my LDL fell to perfect levels and HDL rose to perfect levels.

Sadly I drifted from being a vegan. I need to go back but the my will power has been weak
