Federal Report on Drinking Is Withdrawn

Trump and RFK, Jr. are making America Healthy Again by kowtowing to industry.

“ The upcoming U.S. Dietary Guidelines will instead be influenced by a competing study, favored by industry, which found that moderate alcohol consumption was healthy.”

The Department of Health and Human Services has pulled back a government report warning of a link between cancer and drinking even small amounts of alcohol, according to the authors of the research.

Their report, the Alcohol Intake and Health Study, warned that even one drink a day raises the risk of liver cirrhosis, oral and esophageal cancer, and injuries. The scientists who wrote it were told that the final version would not be submitted to Congress, as had been planned.

The report is one of two assessments that were to be used to shape the new U.S. Dietary Guidelines’ recommendations on alcohol consumption. Its early findings were reported by The New York Times in January; a full draft remained on the H.H.S. website as of Friday afternoon.

A competing report, written by a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine panel, came to a conclusion long supported by the industry: that moderate drinking is healthier than not drinking. Some panelists came under criticism for financial ties to alcohol makers.

Around here, booze is as cheap as it has ever been. 1.75 l of Jim Beam for $21.99? Insane. I have never seen it so inexpensive. But I'd rather have Wild Turkey 101. Only the best, you know.

Does anyone really consult the US Dietary Guidelines before deciding if they’re going to get drunk or not? Why even waste our tax dollars on this?

R2, sure, don’t waste money but also don’t give wrong information.

Exactly. It’s a thing the US never got started looking at smoking. Does anyone really consult a Surgeon General’s report before lighting up?

More corruption from the orange cunt. Any super fit, healthy person will tell you, you should never put a poison in your body and that’s exactly what alcohol is—a poison. Even wine. The same health befits you can get from wine you can get from a juice that doesn’t have liquor. I drink and I know this. One day I will not drink and be healthier. If you are heavier drinker over 30, better not stop abruptly though. You might have a heart attack.

Surgeon general hasn’t been relevant since she told us to jerk off back in the 90s.

Even Jesus drank wine.

The Federal Reports are used by the federal government and state and local agencies to determine where to put public health funding. They also guide medical counseling. They’re not particularly meant for individuals to use to change their habits, although it’s fine if they do

Should be taught in every school:

Moderate drinking is okay every now and then, but drunk = poisoned liver. Drinking = poisoning.

And I say this as someone who enjoys a glass of wine or a dram of whiskey. But I’m fully aware of what I’m doing to my body.

R5 I somehow missed your comment before I posted mine at R9. Just wanted to say: My thoughts exactly!
