The official cause is sepsis, but how long until he blames the Jews?

All cases of sepsis are serious. I never heard of a "mild" case of sepsis.

The Jews, OP?

by Anonymousreply 2September 7, 2025 5:04 PM

They simply couldn’t HANDLE his star power!

by Anonymousreply 3September 7, 2025 5:05 PM

Some background for R2

Zzzzzz...

by Anonymousreply 5September 7, 2025 5:29 PM

Sepsis?! Or is it just a mild case of kidney failure?

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2025 5:42 PM

Already discussed at length in the theater gossip thread.

by Anonymousreply 7September 7, 2025 5:44 PM

Funny how disease always attacks failing performers.

by Anonymousreply 8September 7, 2025 5:46 PM

[quote] All cases of sepsis are serious. I never heard of a "mild" case of sepsis.

As someone who has had sepsis, I can tell you that although all cases of sepsis are indeed serious, some are much worse than others. I contracted sepsis after I had a bad bout of diverticulitis, but they caught it fairly early and I was treated successfully with antibiotics, and although i had to have GI surgery to remove part of my intestine, it was not so serious I had to have a colostomy.

I had a professor in graduate school whose diverticulitis was left untreated longer, and his sepsis was much worse, and he very nearly died. His GI surgery was more drastic and was performed almost as soon as he was checked into the hospital, and he had to from then on use a colostomy bag.

Thanks for the policing, Controlfreakerina, but many of us have learned to actually stay far, far away from all the stupid gurlish chatting in those threads. If information is repeated from those threads into others, then big deal.

by Anonymousreply 10September 7, 2025 5:49 PM

It was the box office that developed the sepsis.

Told ya.

by Anonymousreply 11September 7, 2025 5:51 PM

It would be a Chanel Colostomy bag, thank you very much!

by Anonymousreply 12September 7, 2025 6:04 PM

Sepsis can be caused by fudge-packing

by Anonymousreply 13September 7, 2025 6:07 PM

Billy wanted this performance to bolster his tarnished reputation, and he thought he'd go for broke and be even more over-the-top in the role than anyone has been previously in order to garner cheap attention (which he loves). But it backfired on him, as did his comments referring to Blacks as the equivalent of the Jews in the year 2025, which seemed especially insensitive in this current climate. So I'm sure he wanted to get out of the situation as soon as possible so as not to have the public humiliation of being reported as playing to tiny-sized audiences. I'm also the producers want to wrap this show up since it's probably not making money, given that the people who came to see Eddie Redmayne and Orville Peck are now staying away and Porter has been attracting bad publicity 9and at this point in the show's run there IS such a thing as bad publicity).

So the "sepsis" was quite suspiciously convenient.

by Anonymousreply 14September 7, 2025 6:12 PM

Shepshish?

by Anonymousreply 15September 7, 2025 6:25 PM

Could the sepsis please last into next year so he has to drop out of the Encores! “La Cage”?

by Anonymousreply 16September 7, 2025 6:37 PM

As annoying as Billy is I cannot imagine someone lying about sepsis. Even HIM.

by Anonymousreply 17September 7, 2025 6:44 PM

I eat bowel movements.

by Anonymousreply 18September 7, 2025 6:48 PM

Sepsis...or low ticket sales?

by Anonymousreply 19September 7, 2025 6:48 PM

That "La Cage" is doomed now. Watch for the announcement of a different show, like last season.

by Anonymousreply 20September 7, 2025 6:54 PM

[quote]although i had to have GI surgery to remove part of my intestine, it was not so serious I had to have a colostomy.

You and I have different ideas on what constitutes "serious."

by Anonymousreply 21September 7, 2025 7:15 PM

Team Sepsis, and have been for years.

by Anonymousreply 22September 7, 2025 7:18 PM

[quote]The official cause is sepsis...

Sepsis is apparently caused by RANCID reviews!

by Anonymousreply 23September 7, 2025 7:22 PM

Offering no opinion on Billy Porter, but I did have sepsis when my colon ruptured and I had my colectomy.

I wouldn’t wish that on Billy Porter. I mean, I’ve been on line with him at a cruise ship buffet once.

by Anonymousreply 24September 7, 2025 7:28 PM

How does box office sepsis even work??

by Anonymousreply 25September 7, 2025 7:28 PM

[quote]I wouldn’t wish that on Billy Porter. I mean, I’ve been on line with him at a cruise ship buffet once.

"I'm gonna see it twice more! My husband works in the area!"

by Anonymousreply 26September 7, 2025 7:32 PM

Wow. He's the most bizarre casting choice for Sally Bowles ever.

by Anonymousreply 27September 7, 2025 7:39 PM

You're mistaken, r27. Billy actually plays the part of Fräulein Schneider.

by Anonymousreply 28September 7, 2025 8:24 PM

He's septic AND toxic!

by Anonymousreply 29September 7, 2025 8:31 PM

[quote]Wow. He's the most bizarre casting choice for Sally Bowles ever.

True, but why do I think he could maybe pull off "Woman of the Year"?

by Anonymousreply 30September 7, 2025 10:08 PM

[quote]As annoying as Billy is I cannot imagine someone lying about sepsis. Even HIM.

You're so naive.

R8/R11/R19/R23 are right.

The sepsis excuse is just to let him save face, because he wasn't the box-office draw they promoted him as, and for them to close the show earlier than expected instead of admitting defeat.

by Anonymousreply 31September 7, 2025 10:12 PM

Didn't that ugly fat girl do this when she pulled out of Funny Girl?

by Anonymousreply 32September 7, 2025 10:22 PM

I have always thought it would be very bad karma for a performer and the press people for their shows to lie about a serious illness or injury as a way to save face when the performer has to drop out of a show. I think that was R17's point.

by Anonymousreply 33September 7, 2025 10:45 PM

Sepsis is what they call can’t sell tickets now.

by Anonymousreply 34September 7, 2025 10:47 PM

Took too many loads at Ptown.

by Anonymousreply 35September 7, 2025 10:47 PM

God, R35, who'd look at THAT and think golly, I can't WAIT to ejaculate inside that!!!!

by Anonymousreply 36September 7, 2025 10:49 PM

Sepsis= BOX OFFICE POISON!

by Anonymousreply 37September 7, 2025 11:07 PM

Andy Sepsis?

by Anonymousreply 38September 7, 2025 11:14 PM

Sepsis! Did she have one of those "illegal" operations to rid herself of the child?

by Anonymousreply 39September 8, 2025 12:57 AM

I don't think loads cause sepsis in most instances, no?

by Anonymousreply 40September 8, 2025 12:57 AM

R32. To her credit, Beanie didn't make up a fake story. It was announced that she was leaving. When she found out they were bringing in Lea she left a month sooner.

by Anonymousreply 41September 8, 2025 5:01 AM

He basically ruins everything he touches. That revival/reimagining of Cy Coleman's "The Life" a few years ago was dreadful, with its completely unsubtle "trans" retrofitting and boring staging. It was never a great musical, but it was also not boring in its original run.

by Anonymousreply 42September 8, 2025 5:19 AM

Do we think the production of La Cage (a really lousy show to start with) will try to weasel out, or just go ahead and flop hard?

Has the public finally had enough of Billy Porter?

by Anonymousreply 43September 8, 2025 5:28 AM

Is it recuse sepsis?

by Anonymousreply 44September 8, 2025 5:37 AM

No, this sepsis is the kind that sticks around.

by Anonymousreply 45September 8, 2025 5:41 AM

Sepsis is serious for anyone. It is even more serious for someone who has HIV. He is annoying as fuck but I pray for the best.

by Anonymousreply 46September 8, 2025 5:46 AM

[quote]He is annoying as fuck but I pray for the best

In other words R46 is virtue signaling but otherwise doesn’t give a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 47September 8, 2025 12:18 PM

Sepsis is the new “exhaustion”.

by Anonymousreply 48September 8, 2025 12:22 PM

[quote]To her credit, Beanie didn't make up a fake story. It was announced that she was leaving.

That's a very good point. When these things happen, the performers, producers, and press agents are rarely so honest as they were on that occasion.
