Have you ever tried this??
I never did until recently. It’s really good!
It’s made based on a. Biblical phase that lists whole grains like wheat, barley, etc. That gives it a craggly texture.

I refuse to eat anything biblical.

I’ve tried it. Got it at Whole Foods.
No bueno. Will not buy it again. Taste like crap

You had to add a lot of butter but I assume the bread is better for you than the processed stuff on shelves

It's wonderful! I've been eating it for years. It's great for you! Low glycemic and made from sprouted grains. Keep it in the refrigerator. You can get it at Trader Joes's, too (at least in CA you can).

To R1-You don't know what you are missing. Some Biblical foods taste DELICIOUS, like confused young priests or 20-year-old seminarians from the old St Charles Seminary off of City Line Ave in Lower Merion.
Some of them are ever more delicious when they are crying at the private altar in St Charles Seminary asking God why he has abandoned him& their tears taste yummy while you are performing the most horrible acts on them knowing they are "being touched for the very 1st time".
BTW-I booked into HELL early!!

You all seem fat.

I love it. I found it a good choice over most other breads when trying to lose weight. For some reason I thought it was made by a cult.

Flourless bread is better for you since it has more fiber. I buy this from time to time but it's pretty crumbly.

Agreed, Mother Theresa's beef curtains had the taste and texture of a finely marinated and dried biltong.

My mother turned me on to it. She got into eating more natural foods a few years ago. I really like it. It's great for sandwiches.

Sounds like an old hippie I used to know

Seems like hippie bread I made fun of in my youth. Turns out the hippies were right

It's better than Dave's Killer Bread - that shit is so goddamn sweet. If I want sweet bread, I'll buy challah or cinnamon bread. It's not my favorite bread, but it's a decent choice for off-the-shelf.
I like bread with "stuff" in it - seeds, wheat berries, etc. And when you get bread with "sprouted grains" it has a higher protein content because of the fact that it IS sprouted.
Back in the 70s and 80s, Orowheat (or Arnold in some areas of the country) honey wheat berry bread was what my parents bought for our family and it was really good. It's not so good anymore, but the idea of it still is good. When I get a hankering for it, I will make it from time to time, usually in the fall and winter. It's delicious toasted with melted butter or peanut butter in the morning.

^^and yes, my parents were hippies.

I buy the Low Sodium version. I put slices of seasoned tofu with lettuce 🥬 tomato 🍅 and Vegenaise and a bit of horseradish mustard on three slices of the Ezekiel bread for lunch on Friday- so tasty and healthful.

I'm fine with bread made from white flour but look up how flour is treated in the US and how bread is made here. Read the ingredient lists, they go on forever.
I refuse to eat that stuff. I lived years in Europe and am used to good bread.
My town's supermarket (ShopRite) has a wall of shelves with all kinds of bread, except bread that's simply made. Even the Dave's bread has sugar in it.
So I buy the Ezekiel brand.
First I tried the bread and found it dry and tasteless, but passable if well toasted.
However, their English Muffins are a whole other thing. They're not dry and they have a nice texture. I find the flax seed version to the the best.
And that's practically the only bread I eat. There's a guy near me who makes his own handmade sourdough bread, and I'll sometimes buy that too.
Anyway, if you're not happy with the Ezekiel bread, try the English muffins.

r18 you're absolutely right about the flour in the U.S. It's why there is an uptick in gluten intolerance...it's because some people's guts can't tolerate the shit for flour we have here.

Is that like Scripture Cake?

Brought a loaf home yesterday, thanks to this thread. My partner is a very bitter, recovering Catholic and atheist. I was raised with zero religion and am ignorant of biblical/XTian stuff. We're old hippies who sometimes wake N bake. I made toast. He took one bite and said "well, Christ on a cracker, this isn't bad!". I spit coffee through my nose and just giggled. I really like it. As someone mentioned above, it isn't sickeningly sweet. But I wonder if the bakery is Mormon or MAGAt owned?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 8, 2025 5:08 AM |
It’s great for avocado toast
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 8, 2025 5:25 AM |
Couldn't find much about the owners. They seem to be intentionally vague.
We'll stick with our local hippy bakery
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 8, 2025 5:31 AM |
Does it have sugar in it? That’s the main reason I buy plain old white, it’s not sweet like so many grain and whole wheat bread. I don’t want my bread sweet.
