Israel's International Reputation is Dead To... Most People
[quote]The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs commissioned an American polling firm to perform a sweeping battery of surveys and focus groups, coupled with message-testing, aimed at rehabilitating Israel’s image in both the United States and Europe. The work remains ongoing, but a preliminary report from the firm was leaked to Drop Site News by a source with direct access to it.
[quote]Israel’s best tactic to combat this, according to the study, is to foment fear of “Radical Islam” and “Jihadism,” which remain high, the research finds. By highlighting Israeli support for women’s rights and gay rights while elevating concerns that Hamas wants to “destroy all Jews and spread Jihadism,” Israeli support rebounded by an average of over 20 points in each country. “Especially once the situation in Gaza is resolved, the room for growth in all countries is very significant,” the report concludes.

Not only is it slaughtering Palestinians, its push to dox and arrest anyone in the US speaking out in support of Palestinians is odious.
Our cherished freedom of speech is utter bullshit. Arresting and imprisoning someone who wrote an op/ed in her college newspaper is horrendous. It made me ashamed to be American.

I said this over a year ago. If Israel's approach to respond to the Oct 7 attacks by Hamas is to annihilate all of Gaza and kill civilians indiscriminately the support for Israeli will fall significantly. What they are doing now is basically offsetting the worldwide sympathy of the Jewish Holocaust by the Nazis and becoming the genociders.

Israel cannot ThinkTank its way out of this one. They're not wrong that Hamas sought (and its remnants still seek) to absolutely exterminate Israel. But that all seems like cynical, tactical "whatabout-ism" today in the face of what Israel is doing to the entire civilian population of Gaza.
Israel had the world's sympathy and support more than ever in the immediate wake of the horror Oct 7 2023. Had they pursued a measured, targeted, painstaking response against Hamas, they would still have it. Now instead, the ongoing present day horror is being perpetuated by Israel. Not the first time a geopolitical victim has miscalculated in response, flipped the script and become the geopolitical villain.

Couldn’t have said it better, R5. I also don’t think American Jews (or at least in the NYC area) understand how bad it’s gotten.

It was never that great tbh. One of the many ways the British Empire fucked up so much of the world, bartering the lands it occupied around without a fucking thought.

I saw recently that just 8% of Democratic voters continue to support what Israel are doing in Gaza.
Well said R5.

This was the Hamas strategy all along.
The left and the right are both lapping it up with a spoon.

R6 - that's a very generous view, but I think it's also, perhaps unintentionally, infantilizing and patronizing American Jews. Firstly, let's not overlook the fact that there are American Jews who are vehemently opposed to this war and, yes, even some who acknowledge the G word. But, while the majority of American Jews may still support the Israeli actions, are we really going to suggest that they don't have mobile phones? That they don't have access to the same images of absolute death, destruction and carnage that the rest of us see on our feeds every day? Suggesting they don't know how bad it's gotten in Gaza is... cute... but let's be real. Those who still support this action simply don't care.

Have they tried not indiscriminately killing civilians? Might that not also be an appropriate ‘tactic’?

Hamas could simply release the hostages and surrender. I wish Israel success in destroying every member of any terrorist organization that attacks them.

A shame this has to become "a tactic". There's rationality in fearing this...and always fighting back against it.

Thanks, Benny! All because, like Trump, he doesn't want to want to jail for his corruption and thinks nothing of destroying others to reach his objectives.
This was the Netanyahu strategy all along.

R14
Fuck. Off you genocide loving fucktard.
Israel gives as much shit about the hostages as it does your anal warts. Both Biden AND Trump have negotiated multiple ceasefire deals that included releasing all Israeli hostages to which Hamas agreed only for Israel to sabotage them at every turn.
Israel WANTS to complete the extermination of all Palestinians and annex all Palestinian lands. Only a profoundly racist fucking retard can look at what Israel has done and think Hamas are the terrorists here.

Not that vehement racists and Islamaphobes like R14 would listen to reason, but here is former Israeli negotiator himself Gershon Baskin, a proud Israeli, speaking truth to power and admitting that multiple times, in writing, Hamas agreed to release all hostages AND give up their power in Gaza in exchange for Israel ending the bombardment and withdrawing from Gaza. I suppose they'll now accuse Mr. Baskin of being Anti-S. The absurdity is never ending with the zio-cult.

Oh please the entire Islamic world hates Palestinians and wouldn't mind seeing them wiped off the planet. No help and no refugees allowed. Don't see why the white guilt trip Dems are so upset. Oh wait it's because they're white guilt trip Dems.

Israel is a land-stealing genocidal state that should be brought to The Hague and charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The U.S. must stop supplying Israel with money and weapons to carry out genocide against innocent Palestinians.

R20 Maybe it’s because none of this would’ve happened without US backing. This is America’s genocide just as much as it is Israel’s. All you braindead sheeple ass cowards who obediently allowed AIPAC to handpick your entire government are complicit.
