There was a case in Portland a few years ago where a mentally ill guy with a long criminal record was threatening two women with a knife on the train. Three different guys stepped in to protect the women and the mentally ill man stabbed and killed two of them and almost killed the third. The women (one of them was wearing a hijab which was what set the guy off) managed to get away.

I can understand individuals being reluctant to try to restrain a big man with a bloody knife and a crazed look. A similar incident happened a few months ago (I want to say Boston) where a couple of guys did fight back and one of them was fatally stabbed as well.

What I don't understand (unless it's omitted from the video) is how no one screamed. Not even the victim. WTF? It's like everyone suddenly realized what happened AFTER he got off the train. There were other passengers sitting right next to them. Amazing how people gingerly step over a trail of fresh blood without a second thought. 30 years ago Charlotte was a hot city on the rise... is it a shit hole now?

Or, two people might have been murdered instead of one. In a better world, three brave men would have leapt up and worked together to successfully restrain the stabber but it seems that no one even noticed that the murder was even being committed.
