After Wicked: For Good press wraps up, he intends to take some time off and focus on his nonprofit.
Miss Bailey is delusional.

In the old days of the movie business this usually was code for an unplanned pregnancy.

Will he be auditioning for partners while on this hiatus? Because I'm open and willing.

He may not be pregnant, but that's not from a lack of trying.

Not sure what this fund is even doing. And how you're going to support a world-wide effort?
Plus having the umbrella over L, G, B and T - let alone plus?
Good luck with that Jonathan. I think you're going to give yourself a paying leadership role while you take some time off.

Does that include movies only, or legitimate theatre as well?

He doesn’t want to become overexposed like Pedro Pascal.

Came here to say the same thing, r8. Bailey was circling the overexposure and this is clever on his side. And he is clever and talented and, you know, out (unlike alguns).

The dinosaurs should have eaten him.

You need two or three major projects out each year to be even approaching overexposure, and when did Bailey have that? No, this is something else. No one just takes an extended break when they're in their prime.

[quote]Killer shades.
R2, this is from the interview the Deadline article at the OP is based on:
[quote]Last week, the British actor took the wraps off his sunglasses collab with Cubitts, the cult London eyewear label that's worn by the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Stanley Tucci, Helena Bonham Carter, and Madonna. Made in partnership with the Shameless Fund – Bailey's charity dedicated to making life freer and safer for LGBTQ+ people – he's poured a lot of himself into this one.
[quote]“I do have 20/20 vision, but I've always had a thing for glasses,” he laughs. “And you know what? I was so desperate to have them that I faked an NHS eye test when I was younger. I know, terrible. I'm pretty sure my parents didn't believe me, but it was probably my finest performance. I ended up getting a pair of Deirdre Barlows, which I thought were cool even then.
[quote]Bailey began hoarding glasses as he grew up, some good, some… very of their time. “When I started going to music festivals, I loved those ridiculous glasses that doubled as straws. You know what I'm talking about? They're sort of deeply practical on one level, and deeply impractical in another. And don't even get me started on those chunky hipster ones from the Tumblr days.”

For R11:
[quote]With the sequel now on the horizon, Bailey's prepping for another round of promo – though his priorities have begun to shift. “I've been working solidly for about three years now, which has been amazing and mind-blowing. But with everything happening in the world right now, I'm going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on the Shameless Fund," he says. “Over the next few months, I'll be focusing on staffing and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places.
[quote]“There's this statistic: out of every £100 raised in the UK, only 1p goes to the LGBTQ+ community. You really have to dig to find solutions, and I genuinely think The Shameless Fund is exactly that. That's why this collaboration with Cubitts has been so amazing. Not only is it fun and creative, it can also make a real difference.”

He's not at risk of being overexposed
I hope whatever is going on in his head gets sorted out. He's a talented, hot gay man.

[quote]I hope whatever is going on in his head gets sorted out.
What the fuck makes you think he needs anything "sorted out"? Choosing to work with a charity that increases queer visibility – ESPECIALLY during the Trump years, but Bailey also has bigots like Jo Rowling & Nigel Farage to deal with in the UK – is entirely laudable. Also, did you somehow miss that he's really rather reclusive? (at least in terms of doing the "normal celebrity thing") I'm not sure anyone even knows where he specifically *lives*, aside from "somewhere in East Sussex," which is largely rural. I agree he's not at risk of overexposure – unlike Regé-Jean Page, who let his "Bridgerton" success go to his head (and drive him back into the closet) – but he was never a red-carpet type in the first place.
Finally, did you cunts even *read* the specific quote? "I'm going to stop acting for a bit next year." That's it. "For a bit" isn't the same as retiring, and considering he'll soon have his third massive hit with the "Wicked" sequel, why *not* take a break and focus on what's important? (Helping queer youth is way more fucking important than acting. The fact that you want to fuck him doesn't alter that reality.)

It will likely only be a short break, and the explanation he has given is reasonable. He has been working almost without a break since early 2022, and when Wicked 2 comes out in November he will be in three of the top 10 Hollywood box office releases of the last 12 months, R11. He will also have done three international promotional tours lasting 3-4 weeks each, and he was unexpectedly the primary focus of the Jurassic tour. He's also in the new Bridgerton season that starts in January. So a short break before the project that gives him leading man status in a movie is probably a good idea to keep audiences keen.
His Fund raises money and distributes it to existing LGBT charities. Fundraising has exceeded expectations in the short time it has existed, and that means he needs to ensure its governance is in order and can cope with expansion. Anyone who has been near a government grants program knows that nobody is as contentious as people who are fighting for funding, thus it's easy to get into legal difficulties if you don't have the policies, plans, due diligence, accounting and auditing systems and all that stuff in place. You pay people to do that, of course, but if your name is on it you'd better know they did it properly.
If there are also personal reasons, we may never know. His family and friends circle doesn't leak.

There is an argument to be made that he’s overexposed online due to thirsty fans. Some time away from the cameras might reduce the risk of a hype backlash.
