Puffer jackets

How warm are they. I’ve never worn one but I like the style. Who makes the best ones? Patagonia., REI, Columbia?

I love them for Winter!! Thin and light, they have replaced my bulky coats, which have sat in my closet for a decade now.

The issue is, they all give different levels of warmth. It’s so hard to tell just by looking at them. You have to wear them in your area to see if they are warm enough.

I bought about 6 jackets from different manufacturers from Amazon simultaneously. On a winter day typical of the type I needed warmth for, I wore each one outside for a few minutes. I chose the one that worked the best and returned the rest

They were so hip in 2007.

The good ones usually disclose the temperature they work in. They might have a range 20degrees to 40 degrees, etc

Puffers are UGLY. I'd sooner freeze my tits off than wear one.

If you don't mind looking like the Pillsbury Dough Boy, go to it!

Paragonia is more upmarket than Columbia or REI, but there are other brands that are even more trendy and fancy (e.g. Cotopaxi).

The best one I found is the Calvin Klein one. Very light and I can wear it to ski

OP, mine is Brooks Brothers. It's a timeless classic.

They vary depending on the quality of the fill. But, at this point, I think they should be part of anyone's wardrobe due to the warmth-lightness ratio. Plus if need be you can fit them into tight spaces. Like if you're taking it along in a bag just in case.

I have other, bulkier/heavier jackets that I still love and wear in certain circumstances. But, I'll always want to have a puffer or two of some sort.

Moncler and And Wander (I love my gold And Wander Puffer- its legit)

You cannot go wrong with Patagonia.

I have used my puffer so often that I forgot about my standard overcoats. This year, I plan to wear my overcoats more, although they are much less conveinent

We had goose down jackets in 1975.

Look for an airloft coat. They’re so light yet so warm.

Ones made lined and insulated with actual Puffin bird feathers, of course! The baby chicks’ down is always the softest. ❤️
