Jordan and Salish Matter -- CRAZY 30,000 screaming girls turned out here for Salish's makeup brand launch

We're with my 7.5yo daughter at American Dream here in NJ and it is wild. The mall is packed to the rafters, every level, families turned away. This moment is truly like a girls' version of the 1964 Beatles. The 360 degrees of screaming EEEEEEE!!!!!!!! And the main event is simply a public announcement of this girl's makeup brand, Sincerely Yours, to be sold thru Sephora.

The manic girl energy in this place is floor to ceiling HYPED. I had no idea. This is also (pivoting to my known territory) a piece of how Trump won. These niche subcultures and youthful fandoms are intense, and mainstream politics totally ignores them. Both candidates tried to tap into them last Fall, Trump did a better job, it needs to be said.

She’s a nice enough girl as these top YouTubers go… pleasant, upbeat, not a brat. But this turnout and excitement are insane. For just a product launch!

Cops just shut it down.

Next time, take earplugs. Thousands of shrieking girls can be painful.

Did she sing “I Think We’re Alone Now” too?

by Anonymousreply 5September 6, 2025 3:50 PM

I blame the mothers.

Lol R6, we’re two dads and were part of the problem. I naively thought for sure it would be 1K to 2K max, crowdwise. But our daughter’s fervent insistence on showing up was replicated across Jersey.

Torta, 7 year olds can’t vote

by Anonymousreply 8September 6, 2025 4:39 PM

15 year old young women should not be wearing that much makeup, let alone launching their own line. Little whore!

Kid making marketing slop with AI edited thumbnails (psyop) - pure demonic EVIL

This is so weird to me. I don’t recall anyone getting this excited about makeup or skincare when I was a teenager. Sephora is overrun with preteens now, their moms in tow, spending hundreds of dollars.

My 8 year old niece uses expensive Korean skincare. All she wants for her birthday is gift cards to buy more. It’s out of control and nuts. How did this nonsense even start?

by Anonymousreply 13September 6, 2025 9:53 PM

Wow that mall looks like something out of a Tiffany music video!

by Anonymousreply 14September 6, 2025 9:57 PM

Korean skincare is excellent and usually quite affordable, but it’s overkill for an eight year-old. I’m not sure what skincare products an eight year-old kid actually needs apart from a mild cleanser.

The salish are a tribe aren’t they?

by Anonymousreply 16September 6, 2025 10:00 PM

I don't get it either, R13. I can see them suddenly caring about skincare when puberty kicks in, peer attractions/crushes come in strong, and their formerly childhood skin goes through turbulence. But age 8?

So far our kid isn't interested in the products, she just likes the prank/game type of videos with Salish and her dad.

by Anonymousreply 17September 6, 2025 10:04 PM

If the dad were hot I might be interested in this story. But he's not.

by Anonymousreply 18September 6, 2025 10:05 PM

I’m glad my nice isn’t retarded

by Anonymousreply 19September 6, 2025 10:07 PM

Here is a video of what OP is talking about. That screaming crowd is insane for a kid's makeup brand...

Young girls are now so incredibly vapid. If you have not been around girls 7–15 in the past few years, you would be shocked. They spend as much as they can in both skincare and makeup beginning around second or third grade. They dress in a way that even “fast” teenagers didn’t dress when I was younger (and I’m not that old). Worst of all, they all look like clones of each other—middles parts, athleisue or slouchy sweats, hoodies and uggs. Sure, young people have always followed trends, but now the lane has narrowed to like one or two acceptable looks. It’s freaky, and a lot of the social media obsessed mommies seem to love it.
