What are the Covid vaccine rules in your state?

New York State Dept of Health put out a statement that it recommends the vaccine for everyone above 18. It references FDA’s restrictions but then. Says both pharmacists and doctors can override them.

Yet, a friend (66 years old) went for a Covid shot and was told she needed a prescription.

So fucking confusing

Was able to get an appointment at CVS in CA by signing up online and self-certifying as having a higher-risk condition.

I'm in Georgia, and I went to Costco for mine as I usually do, and was told that even though I am 68, I need a prescription, and that my 54 yr old sister who is obese may not qualify without a prescription.

I live in MA where the lunacy of the federal government is counteracted by educated and medically sound decisions on the state level.

[quote]COVID vaccines will be more widely available in Massachusetts this fall and winter than in many other states, with Gov. Maura Healey’s order Thursday that health insurers must cover all state and federally recommended vaccines with no out-of-pocket costs.

Are these shots the updated fall booster?

by Anonymousreply 5September 7, 2025 1:22 AM

Yes, the new shots

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2025 2:04 AM

California here. 65 and older are eligible, as well as those with certain health conditions at any age. My nephew got his booster today. He’s 38 and has lung issues. He didn’t have to prove anything at Walgreens.

I need a prescription in my state even though I qualify. May go to a neighboring state unless my provider will provide one electronically.

by Anonymousreply 8September 7, 2025 2:20 AM

Yes, you can go to any state assuming your insurance pays for it

by Anonymousreply 9September 7, 2025 2:31 AM

NJ. Same as R1. I’m under 60.

If there’s any pushback from my pharmacist I will go full Karen and raise utter fucking hell, and I will 100% film it and put it on TikTok. I don’t give a single shit about what that fucking MAHA moron says about anything regarding my health. He is not a doctor. And any doctor folding to this fucking creep should be removed from the profession. The science community in general needs to fight back much harder. I’m genuinely shocked by the total fucking reticence of big pharma. Where did all their money and power go??

by Anonymousreply 11September 7, 2025 1:04 PM

RFK, Jr specifically said in the recent hearing that ANYONE can get the shot if they want

R4 And we have a Governor who doesn't take any shit. Governor Healey is an acquaintance of a friend of mine. I spoke with her at a party that my friend gave when Healey was the Attorney General of MA, but I didn't realize it was her because she was wearing sunglasses, and I had forgotten about her connection with my friend. There was no winning a difference of opinion with her. She was tough as nails. I was taken aback for a while until I realized later who she was.
