DLers who claim to hate Trump but love everything he does
What's with these people? There seem to be so many of them on DL.
I mean y'all seem to love his policy on immigration, deportation, transes, Gaza, DEI, tax cuts, etc. I guess there's the implied risk of him going after gay marriage but gays aren't even in the top 20 on his list of minorities to screw over. So what exactly is your beef?

His personality is very off-putting to many of us, so that's one reason. Another reason is that at the DL it makes you feel like you're with the popular crowd if you crucify Trump publicly.

You're talking to different people with a variety of different views. Most people are not 100% leftist and that's why you're seeing what you think you see on a site that is very anti-Trump.
I hate Trump and think a lot of his policies are stupid and/or evil. And the reason he's doing his policies is always self serving.
At the same time, I've made comments supportive of Israel and not supportive of trans women in women's spaces. I'm opposed to affirmative action, but am also opposed to the racist way the Trump administration has used anti-DEI sentiment to remove achievements by minorities from museums and as justification to fire people opposed to his regime.
Others may disagree with me on those, but have their own issues where they are not totally in line with the left.
It's not that we are conservative or supportive of Trump in any way. It's that you're seeing different comments by more moderate folks and kind of treating it like everything is coming from the same people.

We voted for him to save our Social Security, Israel and stocks & bonds. The rest of it who the hell cares?

[bold] Trump is proving that 95% of the time he's and idiot with stupid ideas---but sometimes he gets it right.[/bold] I hope he keeps blowing up DRUG BOATS.....Not kidding. After blowing up 10, or 15----we will see a dramatic drop in drugs rolling in from other countries. And no other modern president has done more to take control of the border than Trump.

Where is the proof that they are blowing up confirmed "drug boats" and what makes you think they would stop there, or never make an "oopsie"? With fucking Kegseth in charge? What would stop them from blowing up any boat full of brown people?

Wise words R3.
In theory I can see the need for border control, but not the disgusting way Trump is doing it with ICE - not like THAT!
Its like the old infinite monkey theorem, a thought experiment stating that a monkey randomly hitting keys on a typewriter for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type any given text, its the same with Trump, he occasionally and randomly blunders into doing the right thing, and its purely accidental

"'Being suspected of carrying drugs' doesn't carry a death sentence," said Adam Isacson, Director for Defense Oversight at the Washington Office on Latin America, in a post on X.
Exactly. This isn't the good news you think it is, r5.
I can't think of one single issue Trump has handled even competently. Why trust that the people and boats blown up had anything to do with drugs?
By withdrawing aid from vulnerable communities within the US and abroad, he has created a lot of suffering to those who benefited from the aid, including those agencies and companies who had been providing it.
How are the people who previously received the aid going to survive? Are they now in environments where crime and violence are flourishing? Has their quality of life drastically declined as they have to focus more on survival? Do they feel unsafe?
