Why is much of the media ignoring questions about Trump’s health?
Prestigious news organizations gave scant attention when, for several days recently, Donald Trump faded from public view. Other than some social media posts and some blurry golf-course images, the normally ubiquitous president seemed almost to disappear.
But most of Big Journalism gave that subject a pass.
Given Trump’s obvious health problems – swollen ankles, an uneven gait, bruised hands and instances of verbal confusion – the media silence struck a lot of people as hypocrisy.
“Why are the biggest newsrooms silent?” demanded John Passantino, who writes for the media newsletter Status. “No front-page write ups. No broadcast packages.” Trump’s health problems and near disappearance “barely registered in mainstream coverage”.

Because they're afraid he'll sue them if they tell the truth.

One word explains it all: fear.

And the worse part is that because the media has failed to cover Trump's rapid decline, it will give space to conspiracy theories when he dies because "no one saw this coming!"/"If he was so close to death, why didn't the media say something?"/"Another mainstream media cover up!"
American journalism is dead. It's time we bury the bodies and move on.

News outlets couldn't shut up about Biden's so-called "cognitive decline," which, compared to Trump's, is a mild case of forgetfulness. And they felt comfortable continuing to hammer at Biden because they knew Biden wouldn't retaliate or seek retribution for their reporting.
But now they're so goddamn afraid to tell the story of Trump's obvious nonsensical word salads, his dangerously bloated cankles, his meandering walk, and his unsightly hand bruising because they know Trump will go after them and sue them if they do.
Yes, American journalism has died in the darkness.

This really is true unfortunately.

Anyone who's worked at a legacy news outlet knows you do the stories the editor assigns you in exactly the way you're told to do it. And the editor does what they're told, all the way up to the owners. It's always been that way. "Citizen Kane" is still in effect.

The Media embarrassed itself with their bullying of Biden. They don't want to do it again. Their corporate minders won't let them. I think it's important to focus on Trump's failing health but couple it with the lack of preparedness of Vance. That was how they helped sink Kamala. There was almost a news blackout on Harris when she was VP. She traveled to foreign countries and met with leaders, she traveled to cities in America and had SRO crowds...all while VP and unless you were following the story on Twitter or Insta, you never knew.

There's more money to be made with pretending all is well.

But it's good articles like this are appearing, because this gives a precedent for other articles.

R8 but it's a no win strategy. This is an old man in obviously poor health and one day, sooner or later he will be in crisis mode and unable t o cover it up. So they ought to at least begin toacknowledge that.
