Dubai chocolate

Ok, this has become such a thing that even I’ve heard of it. What is the big deal about this? It’s filled with pistachios?

Is it made in that awful place?

by Anonymousreply 54September 7, 2025 2:28 AM

Why disrespect this country with your white arrogance

by Anonymousreply 1September 5, 2025 4:33 AM

Because it’s fun!

by Anonymousreply 2September 5, 2025 4:38 AM

Any varieties with THC?

by Anonymousreply 3September 5, 2025 4:39 AM

If it is indeed made in that awful country I'm not touching it

by Anonymousreply 4September 5, 2025 4:54 AM

No one cares what you think, v8fascist

by Anonymousreply 5September 5, 2025 5:00 AM

[quote] It’s filled with pistachios? Is it made in that awful place?

I read this in the voice of my most sexless, nasal-voiced aunt.

by Anonymousreply 6September 5, 2025 5:04 AM

Are French Fries made in France? English muffins in England?

It was created in Dubai, but it can be made anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 7September 5, 2025 5:10 AM

Made by migrant slave labor for that superior chocolate taste

by Anonymousreply 8September 5, 2025 5:20 AM

I just bought some about a month ago, op.

It was horrible and overly sweet.

I saw it at a Korean grocery store, and the packaging was so nice and fancy, and i'd never heard of Dubai chocolate before, so I thought "Wow, this sounds really luxurious."

As I said, it was overly sweet, and I couldn't really taste the pistachios.

Then again, I am a dark chocolate lover, so I have always preferred the bitterness of dark chocolate, over the sweetness of milk chocolate.

Well, I gave it a try and I didn't like it.

To me, it just wasn't worth the price.

by Anonymousreply 9September 5, 2025 5:25 AM

R4 it's made by armies of your sock puppets .We're not eating it but you bon appetit ,dear

by Anonymousreply 10September 5, 2025 5:36 AM

I don’t understand why it’s so expensive. I think it’s to convince people that it’s luxurious and exclusive.

It’s just candy, you know.

by Anonymousreply 11September 5, 2025 5:40 AM

I’m in Greece right now, and it‘s a common thing here.. Never saw it in L.A., where I live.

by Anonymousreply 12September 5, 2025 6:19 AM

[quote] Is it made in that awful place?

It's from a lovely little town on the Lake Garda, OP.

It's not worth the price. The ingredients are subpar, but their greed is not.

by Anonymousreply 14September 5, 2025 9:35 AM

Go to bed antisemite R5. Your fascism claims against Jews are not working. You’re in the minority.

by Anonymousreply 15September 5, 2025 1:08 PM

Milk milk lemonade. Round the corner fudge is made.

by Anonymousreply 16September 5, 2025 1:21 PM

V8Fairy was unmasked as a troll with 7 different sock puppet accounts that he uses to brigade posts he doesn't like with f&fs, sending them into prolonged timeouts. He can fuck right off and so can his defenders (aka his sock puppets).

I'll get a timeout for saying this because he'll use his puppets to f&f me into oblivion but IDGAF.

by Anonymousreply 17September 5, 2025 1:30 PM

R11 - like any overpriced designer clothing or high-end luxury cars.

by Anonymousreply 18September 5, 2025 1:33 PM

Don't know how true it is but I got told it got popular because Muslims on TikTok kept posting it because it was a pretty common souvenir for people returning from the Hajj since you can't buy any alcohol or anything fun over there. Having tried it it didn't really live up to the hype. Brilliant marketing though that shits everywhere and in everything now. I can only assume the Turks are seething Turkish delight never went viral in such a way.

It's the new cronut OP. It's a white woman fad. It'll pass.

by Anonymousreply 20September 5, 2025 2:07 PM

Dubai chocolate-flavored lube? With crunchy texture?

by Anonymousreply 21September 5, 2025 2:07 PM

Saw a tiktok video of German/arab guys trying it, and learned how to say "bro, it tastes like ass". ("Dicke, es schmeckt als Arsch.")

by Anonymousreply 22September 5, 2025 2:12 PM

Dubai Chocolate is my stripper name.

by Anonymousreply 23September 5, 2025 2:14 PM

Ass good or ass bad?

by Anonymousreply 24September 5, 2025 2:15 PM

They figured out a way to recycle the waste from the Burj Kahlifa. MMMMM

by Anonymousreply 25September 5, 2025 2:18 PM

[quote] I can only assume the Turks are seething Turkish delight never went viral in such a way.

I did not like Turkish Delight.

by Anonymousreply 26September 5, 2025 2:24 PM

[Quote] Go to bed antisemite [R5]. Your fascism claims against Jews are not working. You’re in the minority.

Thanks for explaining to us that being a Jew means being a mass murderer, r15, so if you’re against mass murder and fascism, that’s being “antisemitic.”

by Anonymousreply 27September 5, 2025 2:25 PM

[Quote] V8Fairy was unmasked as a troll with 7 different sock puppet accounts that he uses to brigade posts he doesn't like with f&fs,

Yes, it’s Defacto’s latest cosplay. He’s always been big into tasteful friends, even when he was signing as Defacto.

And look, he’s FF bombed your post, basically proving you right. And he’s WWed his own post as well. Mortifying.

by Anonymousreply 28September 5, 2025 2:31 PM

By the way, Defacto works with cars for a living. “V8fairy”

by Anonymousreply 29September 5, 2025 2:31 PM

Expensive way to eat burnt shredded phyllo pastry and crappy chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 30September 5, 2025 2:34 PM

Someone on the NY Times recipe commented that the filling could be used in a chocolate cake, which does sound tasty.

by Anonymousreply 31September 5, 2025 2:38 PM

I have no problem with a new kind of candy, but this one annoys me because there is no reason for it to be so expensive unless you have it made by the original chef and flown in from Dubai. I doubt that applies to the $20 bar in my supermarket. Otherwise, it is made from inexpensive ingredients and shouldn’t cost much.

by Anonymousreply 32September 5, 2025 5:00 PM

It's a fad that started -- where else? -- on TikTok. It will be forgotten in a few months.

by Anonymousreply 33September 5, 2025 6:12 PM

$4.99 @ Marshalls and TJ/TJ Maxx

by Anonymousreply 34September 5, 2025 6:19 PM

It's also expensive in part because pistachios (one of the chief ingredients) are incredibly expensive now.

by Anonymousreply 35September 5, 2025 6:22 PM

Supply and demand. I bet the supply has skyrocketed as people try to cash in. Next, a Dubai chocolate glut. Soon it will be given away on Halloween.

by Anonymousreply 36September 5, 2025 6:22 PM

[quote] It's a fad that started -- where else? -- on TikTok.

It was already a HUGE fad in the UK before it crossed over the Atlantic, and of course it came to the UK from Dubai.

by Anonymousreply 37September 5, 2025 6:23 PM

[quote]bro, it tastes like ass

[quote]Ass good or ass bad?

On the Datalounge, this question must be asked.

by Anonymousreply 38September 5, 2025 6:32 PM

"I don't trust it, I have to see it being made up close before I'll eat it"

by Anonymousreply 39September 5, 2025 7:48 PM

Somebody gifted me some last Christmas. Truly I was kind of overwhelmed, mostly by the distinct taste (you either love it or hate it.) For the money I’d take a box of Belgian chocolates.

by Anonymousreply 40September 5, 2025 8:00 PM

[quote]Ass good or ass bad?

The Arab-German tiktokers involved were profoundly straight, so I'd assume ass bad.

by Anonymousreply 41September 5, 2025 8:35 PM

OK -- maybe I'm wrong, but I have a very strong hunch that you cannot grow cocoa beans in Dubai.

From where are they importing the beans?

by Anonymousreply 42September 5, 2025 8:47 PM

[quote]V8Fairy was unmasked as a troll with 7 different sock puppet accounts that he uses to brigade posts he doesn't like with f&fs, sending them into prolonged timeouts. He can fuck right off and so can his defenders (aka his sock puppets).

Every accusation is a confession. I've ignored all this posters socks, and surprise, my ignore list has blown out to half a dozen

by Anonymousreply 43September 5, 2025 9:37 PM

Fuck I never even tried a cronut. Were they wonderful

by Anonymousreply 44September 5, 2025 10:22 PM

That's not how ignore works and you're full of shit, R43. I wouldn't even know how to make a sock puppet accounts since I'm not an obsessive loser like you. DL is not my life.

by Anonymousreply 45September 5, 2025 10:26 PM

Lindt makes a Dubai chocolate bar with their own chocolate. They do charge a premium for it ($15 at the local supermarket), but that's not as bad as the original Dubai bars, so I bought one out of curiosity.

I don't know how close of an approximation it is, but Lindt chocolate is nice enough. Overall, it's sweeter than I enjoy, but the pistachio and kadayif filling is very pleasing texturally. I'd like it better if it were dark chocolate. For pistachio lovers, I'd say the Venchi pistachio chocolates are better.

by Anonymousreply 46September 6, 2025 12:33 AM

BYE R17.

by Anonymousreply 47September 6, 2025 1:05 PM

I’ll wait until the hysterical fad is over and try it when it is $3 a bar. The innards remind me of diarrhea

by Anonymousreply 48September 6, 2025 1:28 PM

There was a stack on the counter of my Korean bodega last night. I looked in the back of one because of this thread. It was made in Turkiye.

by Anonymousreply 49September 6, 2025 11:52 PM

Its treacly and oversweet. My nephews , 14 and 15 love it for it being pricey, otherwise i think they wouldn’t touch it.

by Anonymousreply 50September 7, 2025 12:11 AM

“Do buy” chocolate. Mind control!

by Anonymousreply 51September 7, 2025 12:21 AM

I think Trader Joe's has a version now.

by Anonymousreply 52September 7, 2025 2:06 AM

You could replicate the sensation by sandwiching a shredded wheat biscuit and some pistachios in between two chocolate bars.

by Anonymousreply 53September 7, 2025 2:07 AM

I was a very early adopter, and I actually love it. Like everything, overexposure and excess has made it lame.
