She’s lost the plot or she’s letting everyone know they need to back the fuck off re: the Dolittle stuff because she is very, very ill.
There’s no way a sane woman would think that wig looks good, right? Or is this like Lisa Rinna and her lips, where she just doesn’t know when to stop?

MY HAIR!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 4, 2025 1:58 PM |
The colour isn’t all bad for her skin tone. But it hasn’t been blended properly with her hair underneath. Like she tossed in on her head as she dashed out of the house. Where was her stylist?
It’s a bit Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Like the Korean wigs that Erika Jayne or Boz hawk.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 4, 2025 2:01 PM |
I love how it's claimed that her hair lightened 'naturally' during her sunny vacation in Greece. Sure, Jan. But it's not a bad idea for her to go lighter as she ages, instead of frantically covering up gray every month. With her health history she is probably reluctant to put toxic chemicals on her head on a regular basis.

She needs to cut it. Too long.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 4, 2025 2:10 PM |
She was likely going grey before the chemo. She was likely already coloring it.
Chemo might have accelerated that, so why not try something different.

by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 4, 2025 2:21 PM |
It just looks like it isn’t real. Angelina Jolie lightened her hair a similar colour but hers doesn’t look fake. A swinging, curly ponytail might have showed off the new colour better.

Not a flattering tone of blonde on her and her hair is too long.
Unfortunately, it seems like a deflection. Most women use a new haircut or color to deflect from plastic surgery but I suspect in this case it's to deflect from a decline in health. I'm happy to be wrong but sadly I suspect I'm right.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 4, 2025 3:13 PM |
Yeah. It’s a wig. Poor dear
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 4, 2025 3:20 PM |
She’s been underweight for decades though. (Before her engagement she was toned and athletic rather than super skinny).
Maybe it’s just age plus the hair.
She did say she was cancer free; and when she toured the cancer hospital she didn’t know what a cold cap was, so it’s unlikely she followed a treatment protocol that caused hair loss.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 4, 2025 3:20 PM |
The hairstyle and color age her considerably. Harshes her look.

by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 4, 2025 3:32 PM |
For some reason ash blonde color has come back in a way I haven't seen since the early-to-mid '70s, when many women still sported a bouffant. And it looks TERRIBLE on 90% of those people. My 4th grade teacher's hair was the exact color of Kate's wig, but it suited her natural coloring. Can't have ash blonde hair look flattering if your skintone is ashen, or your undertone is anything close to grey.
Kate's ash blonde wig/tracks absolutely wash her out, and that's too bad, because even with the cancer and weight loss, she's still a nice looking woman.
Like someone else said, she should fire her hair and makeup people; no reason she should look this drawn, grey and unwell in public if she's truly cancer-free.

I'm thinking she lightened her hair and added extensions for a fuller look. But, she's too skinny to carry the weight of all that hair.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 4, 2025 4:46 PM |
That’s not extensions, which she’s used for ages. That’s a wig and she is either (1) batshit and edging towards Baby Jane territory or (2) Intentionally wearing a shitty wig she bought from Kim Zolciak to let people know that she really is too ill to work and to make people think her hair used to be real (and a lot of it was, but she’s been augmenting it for decades).
There is no way that is real hair. At least not real hair that grew out of her head. I realize people have become used to seeing over the top extensions, but it’s still surprising that anyone would find that hair plausibly real. I’d like to mock it more harshly, but someone that age with three young children being that ill is pretty sad. I don’t envy her situation.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 4, 2025 5:48 PM |
She looks a damn mess, as if she just broke out of the looney bin. Did she and William fuck in the car or does her team just hate her?
I know her longtime hairstylist left, I think she’s going through a divorce, but that’s not an excuse. Kate can call up the best hairstylists in the UK, the rest of Europe, or better yet, America to come save her. They’d fall over themselves for the change to work on a royal, with mountains of cash.
But she’s too rich for that cheap, shake and wear, wig. Now, it’s a partial wig, so her real hair is in the front and even that is a mess. The coloring is trash. What should be ashy blonde looks almost green.
Fire the entire team, makeup included, because they are clearly working against her.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 4, 2025 6:07 PM |

Exactly, she should look damn good for her age, above the average, not at or below it. She’s paid millions a year to do this easy job, which includes looming the part. She’s not Anne, she can’t walk outside with a birds nest and call it a day.
Usually her wigs and hair peace’s are better then this but today she dropped the ball, rolled on the ground, did three backflips, then showed up to a royal event without a touch up.

Is it chemo or radiation that causes permanent changes to hair texture and color?
I'm not saying chemo gave her beachy waves or whatever TF that is, but a perm and a dye job presented as a "new look for Kate" would cover a lot of issues.

I can't bring myself to snark on a mum of three young children who has been fighting cancer for a few years. Yup, she's rich enough for the best cancer care and the best stylists. But nope, will not make disparaging comments about her at this point in time. I have a friend who fought cancer and made it through the other side but the treatments wiped her out for years after she made it to the "all clear." If Kate's still in remission in a few years, I will resume my critiques of her. But for now, she looks like she has been to hell and back so I'm going to lay off.

Meh - it doesn't really matter. As a practical matter, the only real differences between any of them is the prognosis and chances of recovery, but even those are so specific to the situation that it doesn't matter.
All cancer treatments use some combination or surgery, chemo, radiation, maybe stem cell or bone marrow.
Why does it matter?

R2, I don’t know where they fall on the sanity/insanity spectrum, but all I have to do to see tons of women wearing shitty ratty tacky ill-fitting unbecoming wigs is take a little walk around my neighborhood.
I imagine THEY think they look good - why else would they do themselves up like that? - but to me most of them look laughable if not hideous.
I doubt they’re insane. But I really don’t get the trend at all.
And what’s worse is (I’m really not sure how to describe this) but for some reason some of the wig-wearing women look like they’re masturbating their scalps. They keep flicking their heads with their fingertips and/or their palms like they’ve got a bad case of lice.
I can’t help feeling like they’d look so much nicer just wearing their own normal hair uncovered.

I wonder if she’s putting the wig on herself? (for privacy reasons). It’s very tempting to attach the wiglet an inch or so back to disguise the hairline, but that gives the bump effect. It needs to be attached right at the hairline and thinned out at the front by a skilled professional.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | September 5, 2025 3:32 AM |
This is clearly one of the reasons Queen Elizabeth II never changed her hairstyle. One change and people spend hours debating it. For Kate, it's the same hairstyle she's had for several years, but just a different color. I'm sure she's using extensions but pretty much everyone woman in the public eye does these days. But I don't think it's a wig simply because if she was trying to hide the fact she's losing her hair from further treatment, she would've tried something closer to her natural color. It was rainy and muggy in London today, and humidity does puff up some people's hair. That being said, the lighter tone does age her a bit.

I wondered about that too, R88. She’s worn extensions in the past and she probably hasn’t done her own hair for most public outings, but maybe the hair loss is recent or she’s had some turnover in the people who are available to do her hair and now she feels uncomfortable? Or she’s ill and simplifying and this seemed like a way to streamline her routine?
Questions for any hair stylists - 1. If someone is transitioning from using extensions or wiglets or whatever to needing a full wig, is it difficult to get a wig that looks convincingly like your previous hair? I’m wondering if maybe the unflattering color was meant to distract from the transition. 2. Is this a wig that looks bad on her and isn’t fitted/positioned properly or is this a bad wig, period?

Toppers (covering the top of the head) are much harder to get right than extensions (applied under/throughout the hair)
I haven’t followed Kate that closely in the past, but it looks to me like she’s been wearing a topper for the last year. After just utilising extensions previously. It may not even be due to chemo loss, because many middle age women naturally lose hair volume, and her thick locks have clearly been a source of pride and identity for Kate.

[QUOTE]It may not even be due to chemo loss, because many middle age women naturally lose hair volume.
Chemotherapy can cause early menopause, sometimes temporary, sometimes permanent. Radiation, too. So the hair loss can occur from this. She's only 43, about 5 years early.

I don’t care that her hair is fake and I’m sorry she’s ill, but I’ve become intrigued with how the British tabloids cover her and what her PR strategy is. The Daily Mail is still playing this straight, at least on the surface.
Does anyone know how that works? I can’t make rhyme or reason out of it. Did she actually think that wig looked good or is it a strategy? And why are media outlets playing along with it? I was shocked when the media pretended Gwyneth Paltrow’s pink Oscar dress looked good, but this is insane. It’s The Emperor’s New Clothes in real life.
I know I’m talking about tabloids and the hair of a figurehead (and yes, wrt her health she is entitled to some privacy), but geez. Can we trust anything we read, anywhere?
I’ve become a lot more sympathetic to Meghan because it’s becoming more and more believable that she got the short end of the stick wrt media coverage. I don’t like her, but I’m starting to suspect some of her gripes had merit.

She needs to smoke copious amounts of pot and send staff out for curry, pizza, and burgers.

Yes R130 the daily fail is running a big “Why won’t anybody admit the TRUTH about Kate’s new hairdo” which is extremely provocative, but links only to a piece on the blondeness which is not what anyone is talking about
by Anonymous | reply 132 | September 6, 2025 1:44 PM |
That hair looks like it weighs more than she does
by Anonymous | reply 133 | September 6, 2025 1:48 PM |
I saw the article on the color, R130, but I don’t pay for the + features (that would be admitting how lowbrow I really am). So it didn’t say anything critical about her hair or hint about deteriorating health?
This hair and that doctored photo make me this there is either some intentionality by Kate and her advisors or that something has changed and Kate longer trusts and listens to her advisors.

“Clearly putting on weight” R128?

Cancer treatments can make hair lighten. It's clear she's going through another round of cancer treatment which has caused this and she's supplementing with extensions.

Wills looks like he’s stifling his laughter in the pic on the main article.

Stay pressed, Kate!

Are we looking at the same pictures my dude?

If you click on the link in OP's post, you'll see more pictures of Kate in which she looks positively skeletal. She used to just look too thin, in these pictures she looks very scary thin.

[quote] Clearly putting on weight
How much does the wig weigh?
by Anonymous | reply 141 | September 6, 2025 4:09 PM |
She was out today at the women's rugby game....she's not wearing a wig...hair extensions maybe. I'm guessing she's starting to grey and is dying her hair lighter.
Side note, William needs to wear SPF and use a moisturizer.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | September 6, 2025 4:32 PM |
She’s wearing a wig with her front hair pulled back over it
by Anonymous | reply 143 | September 6, 2025 4:37 PM |
Her personal assistant and stylist recently left her position and is also divorcing her husband, a Getty Images photographer.
So maybe Kate is being styled by her mum.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | September 6, 2025 4:44 PM |
Cute outfit and she obviously got the message about the wig, but why is she wearing a pirate blouse to the rugby?
by Anonymous | reply 145 | September 6, 2025 4:45 PM |
OK, I'm convinced now that it's her real hair and it just looked puffy in the OP's photo because of the humidity.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | September 6, 2025 4:49 PM |
A puffy shirt?
by Anonymous | reply 147 | September 6, 2025 4:52 PM |
She looks fantastic at r142
by Anonymous | reply 148 | September 6, 2025 4:55 PM |
She didn't take Charlotte? She's been to football/soccer matches.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | September 6, 2025 4:55 PM |
Nah, that wasn’t her real hair. But she does seem to have a decent head of hair, even if the length and fullness are being supplemented with extensions.
Other outlets are treating today’s hairstyle as though it’s the same color as the big wig, but People doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo.
She looks a lot better and the blouse/jacket combo is really nice on her.

The bit where her part ends is where the wig is attached
by Anonymous | reply 151 | September 6, 2025 4:57 PM |
She should call Beyonce's wig person. There is no excuse for this mess.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | September 6, 2025 5:14 PM |
Isn't that what used to be called "a fall"?
by Anonymous | reply 153 | September 6, 2025 5:16 PM |
The hair is maybe an attempt to distract from the fact that she looks unwell. I really like Kate and hope she is getting better, though.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | September 6, 2025 5:26 PM |
Two different wigs or hairpieces. "Blonde" and brown. She didn't dye her hair back, she never dyed it blonde in the first place. And when her hair is brown it's not all her hair. Come on.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | September 6, 2025 6:07 PM |
She needs dozens of wigs in radically different colors and styles, like Moira Rose in "Schitt's Creek." And then she can wear two wigs at once, wioth one as a hat over the fake hair, again just like Moira.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | September 6, 2025 6:52 PM |
I like that idea r156. If she could do it once she is more confident with her recovery and then use her unavoidable celebrity status to stress early detection she would be an icon.
