The final Blondie record will drop in Spring of 2026.

This is Clement Burke's last recording performance, he plays on the entire record.

Debbie says the new album will be called "High Noon".

Debbie may release more solo records, she probably will. But now says she feels uncomfortable performing as "Blondie" as she is the only original member who's still fully active.

Poor Clem.

Did they ever reveal the cancer that took him?

I'm guessing one of the usual suspects, as he went fast. And too young these days: 70.

by Anonymousreply 2September 4, 2025 10:35 AM

Founding member Jimmy Destri also disclosed he was being treated for cancer recently, apparently successfully he's in good spirits.

The title HIGH NOON comes from a lyric from one of Debbie's "ancient songs", written and recorded in 2003 with Blondie called Diamond Bridge. If the new material is as good as that then then we could be in for a treat.

In the meantime Blondie have remastered and are reissuing their 1999 comeback album NO EXIT. The album which went top 20 USA, and top 5 United Kingdom allowed them to pick up where they left in the 1980s.

This is awesome. Blondie have always spoiled their listeners with choice. It means there is a total of six classic Blondie records recorded before 1982, plus six "modern era" Blondie records released post 1999. Add to that Debbie's five solo records...

Crazy to think that Blondie has had a nearly fifty year career. To put in some perspective, it’s like Sabrina Carpenter or Chapelle Roam releasing their “final” album sometime in the mid 2070s.

I hope they treat us to a little bit of Doo-wop on the new record.

Not wanting to piss on anyone’s parade, but Debbie Harry’s voice is completely shot. As it should be at her age. She really must need the money.

I'm surprised this didn't make more waves, but Dolly Parton did a cover version of "Heart of Glass" last year featuring Debbie on a duet. Both their voices sound "elderly" yet it is pleasant to listen to.

R10 That version is not pleasant. It was a mistake for Dolly to cover this song. Somethings do NOT go together ever. Dolly and "Heart of Glass" fall into that category. I like Dolly but this vover is terrible.

The No Exit design concept of blue (and orange for the remixes) pixilated “covert” photos and imagery was pretty genius. The band looked and sounded amazing at that time.

by Anonymousreply 12September 6, 2025 10:41 PM

It’s not the final album.

by Anonymousreply 13September 6, 2025 10:42 PM

These people are senior citizens they need to stop.

by Anonymousreply 14September 6, 2025 10:46 PM

The photos in OP’s linked LA Times piece are impressive. She looks really good styled in this way.

The first Blondie reunion gigs in mid-1997 at some outdoor festivals did not go down very well. Blondie played their new, mediocre Duran Duran material during the setlist, and Chris Stein introduced the band by saying "we're overweight and underpaid". Debbie's hair was almost completely dark, with two blonde streaks running down the front.

Debbie looked great by the time she arrived in Europe a month later and wore the rip her to sheds dress at "Night of the Proms", they gained momentum quickly.

Oh I love Debbie she's terrif! And I helped her make this album while I was lying down.

by Anonymousreply 18September 7, 2025 4:33 AM

They really needed to dial Dolly's dentures back in that mix at R10.

Debbie has a very checkered fashion history.

Her looks circa Parallel Lines/Eat to the Beat were Stephen Sprouse and obviously iconic — clean, graphic, striking.

Tommy Hilfiger, weirdly, supplied the band's clothes for the No Exit reunion and they looked great. Sharp suits for the men, tailored separates and dresses for Debbie, all black with white and red accents.

Ever since, she's been hijacked by terrible tacky homos who've put her in largely bag-lady crap.

by Anonymousreply 20September 7, 2025 5:01 AM

She's dressing better since being introduced to Gucci.

Sprouse was practical for her above all else. The yellow Picture This dress was based on a stenographer's outfit they saw in a uniform shop. Debbie figured the way she held a microphone on stage was similar to the way a stenographer held out her arms to type, they just made it a bit sexier, and in multiple bold colors.

by Anonymousreply 21September 7, 2025 6:06 AM

The Picture This dress is awesome. If I were female, I would have it made in multiple colors.

I remember Debbie wore a black version in the Accidents Never Happen video.

I liked how Debbie and Sprouse would match a boldly colored top or dress with tights or color-block.

Two notable examples being American Bandstand and the opening to the Muppet Show:

There was also the purple version of that outfit during The Hunter era.

Debbie is still beautiful. Those cheekbones.

R26 Debbie looks magnificent in that performance, it really doesn’t look dated at all given it was 46 years ago.

Imagine, 46 years before 1979 was 1933!

by Anonymousreply 27September 7, 2025 7:47 AM

I read on one of the Blondie forums that it was a member of Man 2 Man Parrish, who performed the song "Male Stripper", was the one who gave Debbie the shorter hair cut for the Heart of Glass video.
